The hotel is conveniently located. The rooms ate average at best. In fact feel a bit dated. What is strange is the number of people who can communicate in English. I assumed that being a brand that would be a basic. Reception, concierge, helpline, housekeeping, gym reception, stewards at all restaurants - none can understand English or even basic sign language. The breakfast is average and it looks like this hotel is designed for large tourist or business groups from within China. If an expat suggest you look for another hotel.
Hi, all. I want to share our experience there. We were expecting that this brand of hotels has good quality. But exactly this hotel is horrible. We got one room at the old part of the hotel ( as we guessed) where there is everywhere smell of cigarettes ( even those smoking is not allowed anymore)... you can’t even breath there... This is the first. Second, cleaning of the rooms... horrible!!!! I know you can’t expect to have the same standard in Asia as in Europe but this was awful!!! So we didn’t stay at this room and asked to changed. This is the only one good point- the room was changed but still the same problem with cleaning... Breakfast... it’s ok... but the stuff doesn’t bother to clean everything properly... so you will have dirty table to sit there.... So... I will NOT recommend this hotel!!!! Try to avoid this place....
Overall the hotel is good for short stay. We stayed for 5 nights in early Oct. It is within walking distance to Shanghai West metro and Railway station. It is convenient to take the bullet train to Suzhou. Breakfast foods are good and lot of varieties. Specially the noodle and eggs prepared by the Chef in charge. Anna and Sunny from the Lounge are fantastic. Their services are exceeded expectations. Bathroom (2109) has room for improvement. The hotel is quite far from the People Square.
Our agent recommended and booked our party of 6 into this hotel, two adults and a child in each room. Greeted civilly by cold and unwelcoming reception staff. On check in we are placed on two rooms, each with two single beds. How is this to work was our obvious question? If we want an extra bed brought into the room we would have to pay another 180Y. Where would the bed go, there is no room? Apparently we could have put "3-4-5 people in the room" in the two single beds without paying extra, but for another bed we would have to pay. "Then we can move you to a room with a king size bed, but you still have to pay". After inspecting the king room we did this, at least there was room for another bed. The room was reasonably comfortable and had everything expected, and there was a complimentary breakfast with the extra bed. Not for the room occupants but for the one in the extra bed. Next item was food by the time this got sorted, it took over an hour and we were all starving.. So we venture into the lobby cafe, open to late afternoon for lunch. Pizza took over an hour to come through, was very average, and the large pizza no bigger than the small. The bill included a service charge and a 6% tax. These were unexpected, however, we thought, this must be how it is here. It turned out that this was the only restaurant in the city in three days that included a service charge and tax on the bill. Never recommend this particular hotel - it looked like value for money but not at all. For what it cost us we could have stayed much closer to the city. And don't bother replying Radisson, there is little to be said that can impress us now.
I have been staying in Radisoon Blu Hong Quan for my business trip since 2012. The staff are very friendly and professional. I enjoyed the executive lounge for business meetings. I had a group of students staying in Radisson Blu Hong Quan in 2015. They enjoyed it so much that we are returning in Nov. 2017.
It is 5mins walk from Shanghai West Station and metro also this line goes straight to Disneyland, Carrefours supermarket is 2 mins walk with some good eateries on the ground floor, There are lots of local shops around. The hotel is modern and very comfortable and safe, the rooms are big and comfortable and clean with fast wifi. Didnt eat in as there was some good eateries all around.
Seeing the lobby from the outside for the first time, may be the only good thing about my experience at Radisson Blu Shanghai Hong Quan. What I've noted in my few days at this hotel. The staff seemed "cold" on reception whilst I was checking in. It's like they could not be bothered to notice me. Check out process mirrored it. All the towels have tattered edges. On the second day, the cleaning staff forgot a bath towel and forgot bathroom mat. It gets slippery stepping out of the bath without the mat. The carpets are somewhat stained. The toilet is not entirely white; it is stained. My ODM team I am visiting mentioned to me that the hotel is listed as 5 stars locally. I have stayed in hotels half the price with much better amenities and services. Why didn't I request a room change? Not sure, too tired from all the meetings. My room was around 640RMB per night. I stayed 4 in total. Two twin beds with south side facing windows. On my next time around, I will not be choosing Radisson Blu Hong Quan. Oh Carrefour is near, and so is the subway. Thumbs up on the slight conveniences, but I am not impressed. Booo
The rooms are comfortable. The bathroom is clean (has a bath tub). Very near to the West Shanghai Railway Station (Metro station). This helped us to commute every easily to any part of the city. House cleaning staff was very prompt. The swimming pool was quite decent. Wearing a cap is compulsory; in case you dont carry your own, you can rent for 10 RMB.
Hotel advertises access to Disney, but it took 1.5 hours each way to get there! One of our rooms had a stale smoke smell in the old carpet. Each of our two rooms had noise issues, one a toilet, the other the fan vent.
The rooms are clean and comfortable. Service is good. The staff are friendly. Breakfast was good. There are iron and boiling kettle in the rooms. You can even find an umbrella in your room (In some hotels you have to pay some money to borrow an umbrella, and when you turn the umbrella back, you can get your money.) Lobby is designed well. I really enjoyed staying in Radisson Blu Hotel!
