Hotel good location for moeslem. Mosque can reach by walk to yu palace. And around hotel have halal food. Cross the street have hypermart. Walk, maybe, about 200 - 300 meters to Yu Garden Station Line 10.
This hotel is well placed for the Yu Garden and surrounding area, but a bit out on a limb otherwise. Next to a busy dual-carriageway and with an apparently empty building to the side (which is what's pictured as the main entrance - odd!). Rooms fine, well-equipped and clean, though not really special. Staff helpful though.
We stayed at the hotel during our August visit to Shanghai. The hotel is well located and was easy to find, it is only a short walk from the Laoximen subway station. The hotel staff do not speak great English but were very friendly and helpful and we managed to get by. Despite not being Accor members , we received a room upgrade. On our last day, there was a typhoon heading our way and they were able to check that our train to Beijing was running. The room was nicely decorated and modern , the bed was comfortable and the air conditioning was excellent. The shower and toilet facilities are great , I love Japanese bidet toilets 😀 We did not use the breakfast service, there is a mall only a few moments away and they had great food options and also a large Vanguard supermarket. We ate breakfast at Yangs dumplings most days. If I was returning to Shanghai, I would definitely stay here again. The hotel is well located for all the sights such as the Bund and is close to the subways.
We have chosen the hotel because of the membership in AccorHotels and a very good experience with other hotels. Not in this case. Biggest disappointment ever! There is no service! During check in we felt like bothering the lady, she was very unfriendly and she didn’t provide us any information about the hotel, breakfast, just threw the key and that was all. She didn’t provide us any benefits related to the gold membership. There is no room service and the restaurant closes at 9 p.m. and the reception is not able to advise other options for the dinner. The bathroom in the breakfast area is just disgusting and dirty. Not recommended at all!
Happy to be here..!! Mercure Hotel Yu Garden looks better after renovation.. Everything is good. The location very strategic, near market, temple, etc. The rooms isn't too big, but it's enough for me and mom, clean and comfort. Toilet using technology, so we just need a remote to control it. And for ordering something from our room, a robot will help us to bring it, that's cool.. So, for me this hotel very recommended if you visit Shanghai. I used accor member for get the best price..
I don't know why so many people whinge about petty little things with different hotels all around the world. I guess they have nothing better to do then complain, complain, complain. This is a great 3/4 star hotel in a great location. Shopping mall across the road with a supermarket and plenty of eating options. Yu garden close by and METRO stations a 5 min walk away. Yes English is limited with the staff but you show me anywhere in China where you can have a fluent conversion in English. YOU CAN'T. Breakfast was good and rooms modern and cleaned very well. If you are anal about every little thing then stay at the Peace hotel. I'm sure you wallet will really appreciate. P.S. GO PORT ADELAIDE 🍐
From the inflexibility of the check in staff to the partially cleaed rooms daily this place is not up to the standard I expect when I"m travelling. I"m an accor member for a reason and I would like to be able to trust that my accommodation is sorted and a little bit of extra care and attention is applied. Also why is the complimentary drink have to be a coffee, tea or soft drink? I want a cold beer at the end of the day. That's not a deal breaker but the service at this hotel is very poor. The rooms are never cleaned properly and they had 5 rooms booked for me when all I booked was 4. But because it was in their booking system they could not and would not change it. Made me very angry after a long flight and all I wanted was my room a feed and to go to sleep. Don't know how much longer I"ll be an ACCOR member.
The hotel looks modern and newly renovated. The rooms even has those Japanese type bidet. They provided the basic toiletries, slippers and laundry bag. The location of the hotel was great! There's a mall nearby, which has supermarket and a lot of restaurants and cafe including Starbucks, Dairy Queen, Coco Milk Tea and many more. The hotel is accessible via 2 Metro Station, Line 10 (Light Purple Line) Laoximen station take exit 6 and Yu Garden Station take exit 3. There's a nearby ICBC atm as well.
This hotel is newly renovated 2018 The hotel is a bit strange (see below) The picture you may see on booking sites looks grand, though it’s not the front entrance? The hotel entry is to the left side of the building, the front is a private restaurant not connected to the hotel + the grand fountain as I understand has not worked since around 2011 If it’s wet take care on the entrance steps & if you have bags lug them up the 3 stairs yourself Then go to the reception desk and when waiting to be attended to glance to your right at “The Lobby Bar” yes the smallest bar fridge with 4 bottles of wine?? That is it!! But it gets better Get checked in, your room number will be something like 8570 no problems except every room starts with “8” there is no 8th floor Now # 8 is a lucky number for the Chinese, the # 5 is your floor number The # 70 is is your room number Then go to the elevator The electric signage is “G” ground floor Get into the elevator there is NO “G” button to get back to the lobby you need to push button # 1 to get back to the lobby, you will need to swipe the room card to get the elevator to work (check in staff forget to tell you that) this confuses the locals also and I did see a few going up and down in the elevator OK get to your floor and try and find your room, signage is garbage if your room is not next to the elevator Now I am taking it you are travelling alone or with your favourite squeeze!! Open the room entrance door Look at your bathroom doors 1 x shower + 1 x toilet frosted (sort of) glass doors side by side cubicles and vanity unit and bedroom with NO other dividing door?? Strange yes Our room was a”city view room” well I expect any exterior room would have a city view, great vistas freeway, under river tunnel entrance, hutongs, etc now did I say great vistas Did you check that your self locking entrance door is closed as most do not, but will beep if your close you may hear it Light switch’s could be confusing Double glassed windows nice Flat screen TV nice (access to USB & HDMI points???) Better be friendly with your room mate Take your passports with you as most tourists attractions will require it to be scanned Close to the hotel (good) shopping centre across the road with a supermarket in the basement, Old Shanghai & Yu Gardens 1x block up the road, The Bund lower end walking distance, look for the Tourists Information center for good maps etc at Old Shanghai & Bund areas - Hotel map is only in Chinese useless to most westerners If you’re an AccorPlus member I think you are out of luck for benefits Don’t use taxis that don’t use the meter just get out Bargain hard most places as the treat you like an ATM
I was on a business trip and I've selected this hotel because of the 'brand' and of the location. The staff is friendly and tries to help! Nevertheless, the reception was always crowded - more staff was required. Moreover, most of the staff members do not speak English. This is an issue. Last but not least: the hotel does not offer room service, breakfast, etc. Many shops are around yet not 24/7. The laundry service was also OK.
