Me and my Business Partner took a quick trip to Majesty Plaza Hotel in Shanghai after our business meeting in Xi'an China. The location of the Hotel is at the West End of Nanjing Road. As soon as you step out you find everything you need. The hotel is clean and the service is Satisfactory. The hotel staffs were polite and spoke good English. The conceirge booked a day tour of Shanghai for us which cost higher than expected but was worth the price. Overall a good experience and is recommended.

Near people's square and pedestrian shopping street, 10-15 mins walk to the bund, really good location, impressive when you walk into the hotel reception area, staff friendly and efficient! Rooms comfortable but a bit tired, over bath shower ok if under 5'6" (1.65m) tall, but as i am over 6' not very good. Originally booked for just one night, decided to extend for a second night so went to reception and asked if it was possible! "Computer said NO" we were told we would have to book on line with the company we booked our 1 night stay with, when we did, the deals on offer showed the hotel next door to be cheaper than the plaza, so we checked out and checked in to the Meriden - not great customer service!

The hotel building is big but room condition is not satisfied for me. Should you know that this hotel is old. and check-in staff was not so friendly. When i arrived, there was 2 man in the room for fixing shower head and they came again during the stay. The room size is just enough but old furniture and equipment. Little bit of smell and fluffy carpet in the room. Not many choices in breakfast. Only thing i like is the location near to the subway line 2.

This hotel is ideally located backing on to the Nanjing Road Shopping Mall, 1 easy block walk to People's Square, hop on/off buses and train making it very easy to get around Shanghai. Plenty of food options nearby. Reasonable breakfast options. Old world style furniture adds to the ambience. Comfortable bed and bathroom, reasonably priced. I arrived well before check in time but they allowed me to check in early at no extra cost. I would have given a 5 rating except that the weekend evening concierge was incredibly rude and lazy. I will definitely stay at the hotel again and hope that the concierge has been moved on!

For the price and location this is a great place to stay in Shanghai. A few of the staff speak English, and try hard to make our stay the best possible. Free breakfast was good. A few Western choices but mostly was Chinese food.

No coffee or tea in room! Not many staff speak English! Good location it's near lots of shops! Breakfast was enjoyable, but no room service and booklet re hotel room wasn't in English! TV wasn't the best! Needs some more shows which should be televised in English

This hotel was such a luxury treat on our 2.5 week trek through China. We recommend this place. Beautiful comfy beds and gorgeous bathroom.... the staff aren't the friendliest but don't be put off. The location is fab, go down East Nanjing Road and you reach The Bund.. amazing!

Summary: staff not friendly, everything broke (see photo's) . Airco broke, towels broke, electricity broke, shower dirty, bathroom old. The outside and foyer looks great But After that..... ripoff and a waste of money. Asked For iron board, deposit 100 rmb. Also broke.....

I definitely consider this hotel below average for a business hotel in a number of key areas. There are positives as well, however the fails are important PRO - location - breakfast CONS - in room coffee not refilled - no room service - no wine in the room - no iron and ironing board unless requested - restaurant closes at 9pm. No after hour food service - external construction not factored into room placement - A/C of poor quality. Struggled to keep the room cool

No complaints. Wi-Fi worked well. They'll make you buy a swimming cap if you want to use the pool. Great location for exploring Shanghai by foot, and close enough to a metro station. Service wasn't particularly poor, but wasn't stellar either.
