Le Royal Meridien Shanghai5.0 out of 5.0

This place was great. It had a complete gym, attentive staff, and excellent location. The only weird part was the design of the bathroom - where you would shower next to the bathtub, but not actually in it - but this is still pretty normal compared to some things you might see at the local hotels. Elevators were a little slow going to my block of floors. Not sure if a few of them were out of service that week. Also, it's a little weird when you have four hotel service attendants waiting by the elevator doors on the lobby floor waiting to help you push the down button before you could do it yourself. But as long as you're only flattered and not annoyed by this kind of follow-you-around service, I suspect you'll quite like this joint.
A great hotel with guest room views over Shanghai city. Very well decorated interior with all the amenities that you could want. Very friendly and helpful staff that are always happy to give directions (they can speak English too). Restaurants are great (again, great views). Could have more vegetarian options for dinner though! The Bund is within walkable distance and took me about 20mins to get there (almost 1 straight walk, and I didn't get lost which is a first). Located right by Nanjing Road in the heart of the city, I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Shanghai.
Stayed at Le Royal Meridian for two nights. Excellent location. Efficient service. Spacious rooms with stunning views of the Bund......Room 3516 Value for money. On Nanjing Road walking distance to Bund. Highly recommended. Highly recommended.
My 2nd time back here and am delighted that the hotel tracked and acknowledged that. Always heartwarming to know that the hotel remembers you as a returning guest. Location is excellent as always, being near to People's Square metro station which is connected to 3 different metro lines, so that means easy access to many places. I was there for business at the SWEECC so this is just 5 stations and 15 mins metro ride away. Service at the front desk and concierge is excellent as always. Room is comfortable, spacious and clean as expected. This time, I was surprised to notice that the phone on the bedside table came with USB charging ports and cables. Don't know if this is new or I just didn't see it the last time I was there. I also finally got to try the swimming pool this time which was wonderful! Indoors with full glass, so one can swim without being affected by the weather and enjoy a scenic view of the surrounding. Water is also temperature-controlled, so that means no freezing waters for early morning swims. Another excellent stay once again.
My stay at Le Meridien has been really great so far. It started with Sunnie Zhang arranging my reservation to meet specific requirements and followed by great customer service from Vicky in the Club Lounge, explaining the different room options, making sure my room is ready early and taking care of my temporary registration with local authorities for my extended stay in Shanghai. Overall, the hotel stay so far has been effortless and staff is always willing to help if needed!
Stayed on the 58th floor. Awesome views of the cityscape. Great place to stay. Breakfast was underwhelming however. Would stay again. The service is good, and the dry cleaning was good. The rooms are small but efficient and clean
I stayed here for the 1st time on business for 2 nights. Although the hotel is old, it's well maintained. The bond view was very good. The breakfast is full of variety, taste ok, just not very delicate type of breakfast.
Good location as it is located along the shopping area, but the rooms are rather small and old. Affordable pricing for room service and the food taste pretty decent. The hotel also goes to an extra mile to book taxis for hotel guests waiting at the taxi queue.
A nice hotel on a busy street. After a night a Radisson, I moved to stay in this hotel for couple nights. It's difficult to compare the two, but I loved them both. Le Royal Meridien is also a good choice for a reasonable 5 star hotel in Shanghai compare to Marriot .... My room view is spectacular, staffs speak decent English, service is consistently attentive. It is close to Peoples Square and Nanjing Road shopping mall.
We did some research to trying to find a nice 5-star hotel in a central and convenient location with good city views…. and this was it. For a little extra money, reserve a Grand Deluxe Bund View room so that you can enjoy amazing views of the Pudong skyline. Room was spacious, well designed, with nice attention to details. The bed was comfortably firm, room had good air conditioning and a nice sitting area to enjoy the view. Bathroom sink area was open to the rest of the room so no privacy there, but toilet and shower were private. Hotel location is excellent. The back of the hotel faces Nanjing Road, a great pedestrian avenue full of stores, restaurants and food markets. The front entrance is about a block from Peoples Square. There is also a subway stop on Nanjing Road by the hotel (about a 5-minute walk) making it convenient to get around town or over to Pudong. Hotel staff was very friendly, helpful, and spoke good English. They arranged for our airport pick-up transportation as well as taking us back to the train (to go to Hangzhou).
