The hotel is well located for the Exhibition Centre. Room are small but efficient in layout. No wardrobe and limited shelf space. Good shower. Breakfast is definitely Chinese except for toast and jam.

I was in Shanghai for a huge conference held at the nearby Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC) that had some 20,000+ attendees. Most hotels in that vicinity were charging a hefty price but I was lucky to book into bis early and enjoyed a very attractive rate. Since this is a business budget, one cannot complain too much so long as the rooms and sheets are clean and changed. Choices at breakfast were limited but for that price, no reason to make noise. I stayed a total of 8 days. The train stations are not that near and require some walking.

Ibis is part of the French chain Accor. This morning I arrived at breakfast and they have a security guard as the person who takes your room number and registeres you for breakfast. I've never seen something so unprofessional at a hotel breakfast. Then the first thing I did was I went looking for a black coffee. They only had milk coffee in a jug/flask. When I asked the breakfast staff for black coffee they said they only had milk coffee. I argued with the staff in the breakfast area to no avail. I then went to the hotel reception and spoke to the only member of staff who has some low level of English. She came to the breakfast/kitchen area and then also told me they have no black coffee only milk coffee. I asked that they make me a black coffee from the kitchen but this was refused. I then decided that I would go elsewhere for breakfast and I tried to get the reception staff and security guard to registered me for breakfast to take my name off of the breakfast list (as this was not prepaid). They did nothing and likely I will be charged for breakfast and checkout and have another fight on my hands. How can Accor group claim that this Ibis is an international brand hotel when at breakfast you cannot provide black coffee? Secondly, I need to plug in my laptop. My laptop is bought in Asia but has and Asian 3 prong plug. I asked reception where I could plug it in or if they had a charger. They have no charger at at 7am they directed me to walk to Carrefour supermarket one or two blocks away. My computer plus is not European or American, it is Asian. How can an International chain hotel in Asia not be able to accommodate plugging in of an Asian type plug. This hotel has comfortable beds and my room was quite. However corridor carpets are dirty, my room is not properly clean (see photos), but the worst thing is the attitude of the staff who canont provide me with a black coffee at breakfast and the ability to plug in my Asian plug, and not just that, but their very bad attitude while not being able to provide these things.

The Ibis is normally a reliable hotel for a cheap, but non-frilly stay, right? Not when in Shanghai. There just happened to be serious maintenance going on over the 4 days of my visit, with constant noise throughout the day. As such it meant having to go out (in 39 degrees of summer) and spend ing lots of time in air con shopping malls. The whole hotel had a grubby feel about it. I would not stay there agai, despite the competitive price and great location.

Nice location in the Pud dong area ,many shopping center around. From the hotel there is a shuttle bus to the Shanghai New Exhibition Center. The staff speak English. The rooms are clean and tidy. There is breakfast on request.

The property needs deep changes. Lobby: floors and windows could be cleaner even if the small repair in progress Staff: no smile, poor English, gadget gaming in front of the guest, not willing to help. Everyday sex-cards slided under the door (there is a warning of that in the room) - lack of security? Very poor breakfast The in-room phone set is not connected, loose wire. The room-fan switch broken Huge spot on one of the towels Sink leakage Absolutely poor management! Just roof. Shame on Accor

The property is in the middle of a major renovation. So no restaurant and hence no breakfast even though I was allowed to include breakfast while booking. There was no notification about this renovation during booking or later when the renovation started. The room tariffs during my stay were about 25% lower than what it was when I booked (I booked about 6 months in advance). So even though I booked well in advance, I paid more. This is weird!

Room is okay with basic amenities. There is no wardrobe, Safe deposit locker available in the room. When I checked-in I am surprised to see that they are already having renovation work going on due to which No Breakfast is offered even after booking. Nor they have disclosed the status while making booking. There was water problem too due to renovation work.

Now the lobby and canteen are under remodeling and too dusty and noisy. The phone was not connected, water was not hot enough in the evening. They couldn't fix anything about the room although I made complaints on those. Far away from the subway station so it is only worth you have some businesses near there.

Yes this is cheap but there is no internet, the foyer is being renovated and it is noisy, it is dirty and the bathroom smells of urine. Cannot think of any positives except that it is close to Starbucks.
