The Hotel was great, the breakfast was amazing and it was in the centre of the city with most attractions within easy access. The Shanghai Metro is the cheapest way to get around, the Maglef train is very fast, Avoid taxis because they are very expensive. Shanghai is a lovely city to visit, clean, safe & very organized☺👍
This hotel is mid range level. There's good and bad about this hotel. For the price, its worth it but do stay in their refurbished rooms. Its an old hotel with six elevators which is fast servicing all floors. I suppose they will refurbish all rooms at some point. Room size is acceptable. Stayed during summer 2017. Central air condition was bad and you cant adjust. I noticed it's hot in the daytime and you couldnt rest in the room. As night falls, it get cooler and its colder in the middle of the night. Lightings in the room was not well thought of. Too many spot lights in the room, feels hot. And spot lights are wired together with ceiling lights. Its either too bright or too dark. Bed is comfy. Bedsheets and towels were clean. I didnt like showering in the bath. Prefer standing shower because its dangerous to step in and out of the bath. People could slip. Breakfast spread was alright and tasty. Pretty much standard varieties for China hotels. Service in the restaurant was very good. In fact overall service for this hotel is excellent. They have sufficient staff and staff are all well manner. Noticed its difficult to get a cab from this hotel somehow. Its about 10mins walk to Jingan metro station. However, its too hot during summer to walk. Prefer to cab everywhere. Did not like the local Chinese patrons holding a lit cigarette in the lobby. Even shared lift with one Chinese man holding a lit cigarette inside. Smelled and Disgusted! Cant they wait till they get outside? What is wrong with these people??? Totally inconsiderate! Overall, this hotel is good and worth the price. I would stay here again but not during summer.
The location are centrally located and near to Chin Ann Temple within walking distance. I take the upgraded new room with extra CNY 100. The room are very new and very nice. The minus points is there are no much Taxi and need to wait for a while in peak period. Overall experience are good.
I stayed here for three nights. The room was quite spacious and clean. Beds were very comfortable. There is an Iron, a hair dryer and an electric kettle in the room. Staff were very polite and helpful. The price was very reasonable compared to other hotels in the area. Also, the hotel is a 5-10 minutes walking distance from the West Nanjing road and Jing'an temple. There is a subway station 3 minutes away from the hotel. You can pretty much access everywhere vey easily. Something to have in mind about the hotel:all the rooms are non-smoking. (which was great in my opinion.) Overall if I ever go to Shanghai again I will definitely stay in Eqatorial.
This is a great alternative to the Hilton. The staff is quite pleasant, the rooms are quite nice and they won't charge you for WiFi. Each time I stayed there, my room had a nice view. The walk from the metro to the hotel is just long enough to be a sweaty one from Exit 5 at Jing'An, but it is still a few steps closer than the Hilton as well.
Stayed here twice - in 2017 and 2015. Both times staff was particularly helpful. Two restaurants in the building. Concierge very helpful with directions. Comfortable beds. Close to Xintandi. Would stay again.
Room was quite small but clean, good amenities, and comfortable bed. Internet mostly work (hotel did shut it down during prime evening hours for maintenance). Breakfast included in price with reasonable options for a Western breakfast. Very conveniently located.
We spent 5 nights at this hotel and enjoyed every minute of it. Rooms are comfortable and clean. Staff are very helpful and have a great level of English. Location was ideal for us as it is only a short walk to the metro and also to some restaurants that stay open late *difficult to find in Shanghai). Gym and swimming pool were fantastic too!
I was literally surprised by the very good improvements undertaken by this hotel compared to last time visited more than 4 years ago. The check in was excellent the receptionist spoke English and for 20 euros more a night I could enjoy a bigger room and the breakfast included. Room has been completely renovated and it was very comfortable and silent. Had a massage in the parlour on the 4th floor and the service was professional and most of all clean. Pity customers from the hotel need to pay to use the sauna and steam bath of the spa and the cost is not cheap 288 rmb.. Gym and pool above average A weak point was the breakfast still too Chinese with no possibility to self served water and need to continuously ask for that. Staff is kind but aside reception they do not speak English so for someone could be an obstacle. There was a only expat staff I had the chance to see, young kid more concentrating in biting his nails than saying good morning or smiling to the guests. Check out service very good and fast
On a recent girly visit to Shanghai, a group of 7 of us booked into the Hotel Equatorial, for a 3 night stay. The reception staff were very friendly, and got us all booked in very swiftly. Our rooms were all on the same floor, with lovely views of Jing'an Temple and park. The rooms themselves were very clean and modern, with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Breakfast was buffet style with a vast selection of food. We tried out the pool, which was very quiet and clean (swimming caps must be worn, which are provided by the hotel). I would definitely recommend this hotel to others, and would stay here again without a doubt.
