It‘s a very good starting point to get around in Shanghai, Nanjing Road is just a block away and subway line 2 and 7 also. And the bus route 71 (stops at many attentions) direct in front of the hotel. The indoor pool and SPA are big and nice. The rooms are clean and modern furnished. The standard rooms are small, good for one, too small for two.
I chose this hotel due to its convenient location reasonably near the Jing'an Temple stop on Line 2 (with access to both Pudong Airport and the Hongqiao Rail Terminal). Getting there off the metro did involve a small amount of hauling luggage up and down some steps as the escalators to the elevated path over Yan'an Rd only go up and have a few steps at the bottom. I was a bit concerned about the position next to one of Shanghai's main arterial roads, but although you can certainly hear traffic from the rooms, it is a continuous white noise so didn't affect my sleep at all. The rooms are very comfortable and well-appointed, at least to the standard you'd expect in an international hotel anywhere, and at half the price of the Hilton next door, very good value for money. This is a great area to stay in Shanghai - high end malls if you are into that north of Yan'an Rd, and the most interesting part of old Shanghai to the south.
This was a great hotel in a very good location so you could walk too many places. The hotel itself was very nice and the beds were the softest we had on our whole trip. The breakfast that was provided was huge, you had your selection of a Western breakfast or you could go with Chinese breakfast which was so much to choose from.
better place than o lot of other famous hotel in Shanghai , specially one closed by. I really enjoyed staying there 3 nights. Personal is very friendly, breakfast buffet good and they have good coffee too. Rooms are very clean with good towls.
I had a fantastic time in this hotel. My room was amazing, and very comfortable. The location of the hotel is great, lots to do nearby. Staff was very pleasant and the hotel was very clean. I definitely recommend this hotel.
First the positive side of the hotel: Cheap price considering the central location, good variety of breakfast buffe and comfortable bed. Girls worked at breakfast entrance always greeted us friendly. Then its the downside: I am a Chinese and when I entered the hotel with my huge luggage, no one bothered to help me, however, 1 min later, when my western husband came into the door, the concierge guy instantly came forward and help him with the luggage. The young guy at the front desk was slow and like a robot. It took him almost 30 mins to enter the guest information and to find a room for us and we just stood there waiting and he said nothing. He never smiled and he talked as if he was programmed. He had an intern badge on him, so he probably just graduated from school. I could understand the slowness since he was new, but one could not see the agility and passion a new graduate should have. I guess he didn't like this job. In all, the hotel has good hardware, it is a pity that the attitude of some staffs ruined this whole staying experience.
I have been coming to this hotel for over 10 years and I can always rely on a good stay. The hotel, the facilities and the staff are well up to standard and it's very nice to be recognised on repeat visits. One word of caution just at the moment. There is a lot of construction work going on in the area and they don't stop at night so it can get pretty noisy. It looks like a major transformation so it mat take some time.
This hotel is located in a great location. Allowed us to mingle with the locals. Very friendly. Hunter Hu (dining room manager) was very helpful. He acquired a paper the had our desired excursion locations in Mandarin and English to show cabbies. Made travels quick and easy. Many thanks to Mr. Hu!!
nice hotel with good rooms. nothing really special, but solid indeed. the wide choiceo of european and asian foods for breakfast. pleasant park lwith thai restaurant nearby and good price and cheap shuttle bus to Pudong airport helped....
I enjoyed staying here, it was a work trip, but the location was good, close to Jing'an station, close to the french concession and nice traditional and western foods/cafes, lovely little park over the main road overpass. The hotel was nice, big room, nice gym, welcoming and helpful staff - I didn't eat here.. too many other places to visit and eat at.
