better place than o lot of other famous hotel in Shanghai , specially one closed by. I really enjoyed staying there 3 nights. Personal is very friendly, breakfast buffet good and they have good coffee too. Rooms are very clean with good towls.
I had a fantastic time in this hotel. My room was amazing, and very comfortable. The location of the hotel is great, lots to do nearby. Staff was very pleasant and the hotel was very clean. I definitely recommend this hotel.
First the positive side of the hotel: Cheap price considering the central location, good variety of breakfast buffe and comfortable bed. Girls worked at breakfast entrance always greeted us friendly. Then its the downside: I am a Chinese and when I entered the hotel with my huge luggage, no one bothered to help me, however, 1 min later, when my western husband came into the door, the concierge guy instantly came forward and help him with the luggage. The young guy at the front desk was slow and like a robot. It took him almost 30 mins to enter the guest information and to find a room for us and we just stood there waiting and he said nothing. He never smiled and he talked as if he was programmed. He had an intern badge on him, so he probably just graduated from school. I could understand the slowness since he was new, but one could not see the agility and passion a new graduate should have. I guess he didn't like this job. In all, the hotel has good hardware, it is a pity that the attitude of some staffs ruined this whole staying experience.
I have been coming to this hotel for over 10 years and I can always rely on a good stay. The hotel, the facilities and the staff are well up to standard and it's very nice to be recognised on repeat visits. One word of caution just at the moment. There is a lot of construction work going on in the area and they don't stop at night so it can get pretty noisy. It looks like a major transformation so it mat take some time.
This hotel is located in a great location. Allowed us to mingle with the locals. Very friendly. Hunter Hu (dining room manager) was very helpful. He acquired a paper the had our desired excursion locations in Mandarin and English to show cabbies. Made travels quick and easy. Many thanks to Mr. Hu!!
nice hotel with good rooms. nothing really special, but solid indeed. the wide choiceo of european and asian foods for breakfast. pleasant park lwith thai restaurant nearby and good price and cheap shuttle bus to Pudong airport helped....
I enjoyed staying here, it was a work trip, but the location was good, close to Jing'an station, close to the french concession and nice traditional and western foods/cafes, lovely little park over the main road overpass. The hotel was nice, big room, nice gym, welcoming and helpful staff - I didn't eat here.. too many other places to visit and eat at.
Stayed at hotel equatorial for 5 nights. Got an upgrade to newly refurbished room at 10th floor. Noting the hotel situated about 10 minutes diagonally across Jin An Temple (Line 2 subway) by walking via the overhead bridge. Cons are: (1) concierge staffs were generally not friendly when we try asking for directions to some destinations; (2) breakfast selection not too fantastic amid there's western and Chinese but quality is of average; (3) house keeping such as toiletries and mineral waters didn't replenish timely. Last but not least, we request for wake up call for the whole stay but ended only the first day call was activated. Shall the management can enhance on the mentioned cons, hotel equatorial will be excellent.
The hotel is in an old, dated building but that's just the exterior. My colleague was on level 7, which is renovated to a very high, modern standard. We were on level 18 which looked like it was last renovated 10+ years ago. The staff couldn't be faulted and most spoke great English. Breakfast buffet was fine with a mix of western and local cuisine. We tried the dinner buffet on one night which was also good. A short (4 min) walk to the Metro which is an interchange stop for lines 2&7. Line 2 takes you to both airports & the NECC which is the venue for a lot of trade shows & exhibitions. The Metro also takes you to the famous Bund and city shopping mall. The pool & gym are also fine, modern & clean. There are half a dozen good restaurants that'll appeal to westerners in Huashan Rd, about 50m south of the Hilton (which is literally around the corner). Had some wifi problems but these were solved by resetting the wifi. Overall a decent hotel.
The hotel is situated very close to the metro 2 allowing to easily move to the center in a couple of stops and to both airports in 1h. The hotel is a 5 star hotel with several services inside like the free access to swimming pool and the gym. View from the room was fantastic towards the bund skyline. Breakfast has a wide range of options including also western usual food. There are some improvements to be done to the rooms.
