Location was great , concierge team was really helpful she tried to get a taxi for me however no one take the call she was all the way of the hotel stood in the sun and tried to flagged down a taxi for me Appreciate the gesture Internet speed was great
Positives: great English speaking service, large clean rooms, amazing dim sum restaurant, late check out time. Cons: if you check in past mid-night the service drops substantially, the area isn't the most luxurious part of town (10 min walk from subway in some harsh conditions), breakfast buffet is expensive, and they occasionally seem to lose receipts/reservations (just an organizational thing I think). Overall, nice place to stay.
We stayed here for one night in June. It's a bit out of the way from the centre, but the metro is not too far away. It's as you would usually expect from a Holiday Inn, but we had an executive suite which was large and comfortable. Everything was clean and in good condition. The hotel had a convenience store in the main lobby which was handy. We had access to the executive lounge which was pleasant and had a fair selection of food and drink on offer.
Holiday Inn Vista is in a central location just outside the downtown core with easy access by cab or the 2 nearby metro stations. Staff was very friendly and helpful especially their front desk manager Eva who just happens to be one of my International Business students from my tenor in Shanghai several years ago. My wife and I stayed for 2 nights before we flew onto Xiamen to see family and were very impressed with our treatment during our stay. The room was spacious and clean with a nice view of the surrounding area and because we were not right downtown it was considerably quieter. There are a number of shops and restaurants in the area but if you need to get into the heart of Shanghai you are a couple minutes walk to 2 metros and you are downtown in a matter of minutes. We had drinks in the lobby bar one night and watched the people pass on the street outside and relaxed to the sounds from the piano next to the bar. Breakfast was excellent with enough to keep a western traveler satisfied with familiar items albeit a little different from home. Wifi was never an issue as we had a good strong signal during our stay and it was free, pool was nice although we never had time to use it, will try on our next trip. We will be going back again this year and plan on staying there again for a few nights as we catch up with some old friends. Lived in Shanghai for just over a year and when we go back this hotel is always our destination of choice. You have lots of choices but you can't go wrong with the Holiday Inn Vista.
Holiday Inn,Shanghai Vista is an excellent property with a plush room & an attractive large lobby.Restaurant is great.Buffet breakfast is excellent with options of delicious dishes. The Chef is friendly & helpful. Concierge is very helpful & sincere.Unfortunately all the good points are negated by the front desk, who are too stiff with absolutely poor service. Overall a good place with excellent amenities, centrally located & easily accessible.
This Holiday Inn is getting a bit aged, but I still found the rooms clean and the service good. It's not in downtown Shanghai, but if you don't mind the 10~15 minute walk, you get a quite central hotel within walking distance to good nightlife and restaurants.
My company use this hotel as corp one as close to office, years ago we stayed there many many nights and after years i come back recently. Feel like home and although not much surprise i got what i want here. Worse is like i cannot find good stuff to eat nearby or i do not know well the place. Will stay here again and explore, will swim this time as well.
This is a standard 3 star level hotel. It's clean and functional, and that's it. It's convenient location to the Metro is great. Breakfast, like everything else, is so so. Reception is so so as well. No emotions. Not unhappy to help, but not happy to help as well. Maybe they are robots? Rooms are so so. Bathrooms... So so. Nothing terribly wrong, but really nothing great.
As the previous reviewer has mentioned, the room was way too hot. Did not even bother to complain as we checked in late and we were leaving the next day in the morning. Had to open and close the windows to control the temperature throughout the night. Things got worse from that point. Noticed stagnant water in the drain hole but decided to ignore it and have a shower. Midway the bathtub filled up to my knee as the water was not draining. Had to call for help. The only saving grace was the breakfast, which was acceptable.
Having stayed at this hotel many times, I recognize the need for opening windows. It is often hot before the A/C has been turned on in about June. They will tell you that the A/C is working, even when it is not even switched on. This stay the Chinese management of the hotel is becoming more apparent. I would not be surprised to see the Holiday Inn name disappear as so often happens in China with franchises. It is marginally Holiday Inn standard.
