The good: - The location - Good price, given the location - Clean room. The not so good: - Bed was a bit stiff for my taste... found this to also be the case at a more expensive holiday inn, in a far off neighborhood, so maybe this is just a China thing. - 200 RMB cash deposit was a bit of a surprise when I checked in, and was a challenge because I had yet to find an ATM that would accept foreign ATM cards (suggestion: look for the Citibank on the bund promenade ~2 blocks from here) - Power, internet & phone went out for half a day. This sucked when I had tried about 12 different ATMs at this point with no luck, and was trying to skype call my bank to see if the issue was on their end (I later found it wasn't). This is probably not an everyday occurrence, but really put a damper on my stay. - Staff's english is pretty limited, which isn't surprising. Just don't expect to have a conversation outside of their prepared checkin procedures. Have a cell phone app downloaded in advance for those kind of things.
The best about this hotel is how close it is to bund. The Bund is very beautiful at night and day. The buildings look spectacular. The room it's self is big and the bed comfortable. Though lots of maintenance needed in room and bathroom. Smells, water overflow and not cleaned fully. The hotel is situated close also to some nice restaurants and cafe. Overall an ok stay because of location
We stayed at the elegance bund hotel while visiting shanghai. Location is the main selling point for this hotel. It is withing walking distance from The Bund/ East Nanjing Road etc. The window in our room opened into a staircase which was quite noisy when people walked past. Rooms were neat and spacious enough. There are many restaurants selling western food and Chinese food nearby. Convenience Store just across the road from the hotel. Staff were helpful, friendly and spoke enough english to answer questions and assist. Overall a good choice. Good value for money for this hotel. Good for those on budget but still looking for a decemt level of comfort. I would definately reccomemd staying at the elegance bund hotel
Had booked Park Hotel for a night but called me to say booked out and recommended here. I was dubious but pleasantly surprised. Had a 5th floor room which was pretty nice and basic but associates on 3rd floor said too noisy. Great location, very short walk to Bund and quick taxi to Nanjing or Huahai road/Xitandi. I have booked two more nights there later in the month requesting 5th floor room.
Came for the second time as location is amazing for sightseeing and party (best clubs on the Bund within short walking distance, go to Bar Rouge for an amazing view and a drink or take a short trip on a ship!). Was here in summer before and had one of the rooms on the upper floors that are supposed to be fancy, and sort of are with interesting furniture, but quite old and with really dirty carpets. This time I stayed on the ground floor and the room was completely differnt. I got upgraded to a family room with no carpets and simpler furniture, in total the room was more clean and pleasant. If it was summer, this room would have been gold. As I stayed in winter and the only source of heating was a very weak aircon, it was just as cold as outside and didn't get warm. Had to sleep in my jacket and got a bad cold from taking a shower in the freezingly cold bathroom. So wouldn't recommend staying there in winter for more than 1-2 nights, but in summer any time if budget is low.
I slept in two different rooms in this hotel. the first one was a business room on the not .second floor. the room was noise and not that great than I moved into the fifth floor, I got a small room, but is looked good and it was clean and in great shape. no view, and the breakfast is not good, but generally the hotel is great
Location is very convenient for sure. Can walk to Yu Yuan, Bund, Nanjing pedestrian street. No free parking though as indicated on website, but staff suggested place near by from 5 pm to 8 am ( which does not correspond to check in and check out). Also was given non smoking rooms as requested and clearly its not non smoking floor. Rooms beside ours had smokers and it came into our room. That was disappointing. Very strong smoke smell all night. Would I stay again? No, only for the smoke issue (very sensitive to smoke), but staff was nice and helpful.
We picked this hotel for its location as its less than 2 blocks from the Bund. It is also only about 10 mins walk from the metro so location wise, it's hard to beat. The room was more than adequate and had everything we needed. A bit more attention to cleanliness would help but overall it was a good experience.
Great location. Walked to top tourist attractions within minutes. Room was clean and staff was friendly. Wifi was decent in room. The security lock box didn't work in the room and it didn't get fixed during my stay. 30-45 minutes from airport without traffic.
Staff is friendly and speaks English (don't ask too complicated questions though). Rooms were spacious and bathroom modern. Great shower! Everything was very clean. At night you could here some streetnoises, so my suggestion is to take earbuds with you. This depends on which room you have of course. Walking distance from the main attractions of the city (Nanjing Road, the Bund, Yuyuan Garden, People Square, ...). About a 15 min walk from subway station East Nanjing Road (exit 2). Didn't book the breakfast, but there are enough Starbucks, Pacific Coffee and others in the neighbourhood.
