DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Shanghai - Pudong5.0 out of 5.0

My family and I had to find a hotel that was convenient to Shanghai city and the Pudong airport, and the DoubleTree Hilton Shanghai-Pudong was absolutely perfect. The staff met us in the lobby and took great care of us all the way until the check out process. The food was delicious and the hotel gardens were bright with spring colors. The rooms were spacious, quiet, and comfortable. I highly recommend this hotel.
Stayed here for a business trip. Hilton status got me a room in the East Tower. The hotel is starting to look it’s age. From a distance it still looks fine but the rooms are getting a little dated. Still a decent location with a good breakfast and dinner buffet if you don’t feel like venturing out to explore.
Nice hotel, though a bit aging nowadays. Decent size rooms, clean and bussines oriented. Staff not so proficient in English. Very nice breakfast and decent room service, with international and local choices.
We enjoyed a family stay at this property for 3 nights. There are 2 towers - we stayed in the east which I think is older but had an upgrade to a suite which worked fine with 2 kids (one on the couch the other on the roll-away). They even sent up a fruit basket on the first day. We enjoyed a nice breakfast in the Executive Lounge (Diamond) but they certainly ensure you pay for any non-staying guests...as we had a friend join us one morning and they were all over that. Others have noted that the bathroom privacy shade button is hiding behind the toilet paper..so thanks for the heads up. The room in the east wing had very dated carpet but that's about the only negative with the room. The pool was nice but cool - the hot tub was not turned on. We found the staff to be overall great...much better than Hilton staff in Beijing or other China properties so that is a credit to this team. The only other hints/helpful hints might be around trains: The MagLev dumps you off at Longyang Rd. Station and you'll need a 5 min cab over to this property. The closest metro station is Lancun Rd. which is a 10 minute walk away. When traveling with 5 in your party you'll get some push back on taxis with 4 sitting in the back (2 kids for us) as they claim the police are cracking down on that. Usually a 10Y tip will get around this...of the 10+ rides we had only 1 absolutely refuse us.
Nice hotel with easy 30 min drive to airport. Have stayed here 3 times and check in and out quick and easy with no problems. Nice breakfast, nice staff, nice rooms. I will be back! Did not fiend time in area so not much comment on things to do.
Staff are friendly and polite, and the rooms are comfortable. Power points were a bit of an issue, either not close to bed or intermittent. Executive Lounge had a wide variety of food available and staff were pleasant. Heard a few complaints from customers about lack of available tables during the breakfast rush hour but business people all hit there the same time, so its to be expected. The executive lounge is more like another restaurant area, than the executive lounge you see in other Hiltons. If you have rooms in the renovated tower then it is quite a hike from reception to your room.
This Double tree is right next to our office so I like to stay here when I visit. I was here for five nights this last time. The lobby is beautiful and the check-in staff are courteous and efficient. The tower I was in required quite a long walk to the back of the hotel. The rooms are well appointed with Western style amenities, clean and convenient. The restaurant facilities in the hotel are fantastic. From the lobby restaurant to the rotating restaurant on the top floor the experience is good. The only complaint I have is the room service. The time it took between ordering and receiving food was ridiculously long. I would order breakfast and when it didn't arrive within an hour and a half, I would have to leave and usually pass the room service person on my way out. This was very frustrating. Also, the quality of the food has gone way downhill since I stayed here two years ago. I used to love their unique take on steak Nachos. However, this time they had virtually no meat on them and used green olives that ruined the whole dish. Overall this is a nice business class hotel with decent service. Just make sure you give yourself plenty of time if you order food to your room.
Stayed here for two nights, the location here is a bit too far to the downtown. It takes around 10 mins to the metro. The building and the room looks old but clean. The highlight is their croissant in the breakfast buffet, very delicious!
This hotel has very helpful, friendly staff and good facilities including a gym, cafe, bar, restaurant, sauna and pool. The rooms are very large and comfortable with good tea and coffee making in room. There are not any power points by the bed which can be a pain when you need to charge your phone at night and what to use it as your alarm/check the time when you wake in the middle of the night.
If there is something that I look in hotels is to do the check-in and then, tell people at home that I'm alright. In order to do that, I appreciate the free WiFi from the hotels. In this case, I couldn't. The service at the restaurant was slow and with no many options, the breakfast buffet thou, was very generous and with a lot of choices. The mattress in my bedroom was hard as a rock, it did let me sleep, but it wasn't a pleasant night.
