Very impressed, helpful staff, great location. You can take a short walk to the closest metro station. I have stayed here 4 times and would come again. Revolving restaurant is a must, the food is superb and good value.
This is a great hotel for a quick stay in Shangai, very Luxurious, good food, great service, we discovered it last year and now it is a definite staple during our Shangai visits. It is well located and near the underground market for some last minute shopping before going home.
This is a wonderful hotel that exceeded our expectations. The lobby is beautiful. Our room was very nice. It was spacious and our bathroom had a lovely shower and separate sunk in bathtub. The bed was very comfortable. We ordered room service several times and it was extremely prompt. The breakfast buffet is very good. The staff is exceptionally helpful in assisting you with navigating Shanghai. Unlike some American hotels we frequent, there is a real attention to detail. I also noted that no matter what time we left our room for the day we always came back to a clean room. We never had to call to have the room made up. Also, the fitness center was very nice and always stocked with bottles of water and towels. My son attends school in Shanghai and we will definitely return to this hotel upon our next visit.
When you walk into the hotel, you think "WoW, this looks great". Well the lobby does look great. When you get to your room, it's a different situation. I have stayed there twice on 2 different occasions in the last 2 months, and both rooms I was assigned were bad news. Carpets in both rooms worn, dirty, and stained. Light bulbs were dim, heating system did not work properly. Walls dirty in rooms as well. Same in hallways of the hotel. There is no way this hotel is a 5-star rating, and there is no excuse for DIRTY carpets in a hotel of this brand (Hilton). This place needs to be cleaned immediately. Cannot recommend until the management of the hotel cleans the carpets....no excuse !
Arranging a private car was very simple and the car was waiting when I cleared customs at the airport. Hotel staff was very welcoming when I arrived and acknowledged my HHonors participation. The type of upgrade I received was totally unexpected.
Excellent services for HH DM member, the only one choice for my Shanghai stay ~ Always try their best for guest needed, nice lounge with various dishes in HH time. Thanks to Angela >_< You are the best on DT Shanghai.
DoubleTree by Hilton Shanghai-Pudong is always my first choice in Shanghai. Good room, staff and food! Decent hotel, beautiful lobby area, clean rooms, and very helpful and polite staff. Thanks Maggie, Ann and other friends for your kindly help!
Stayed overnight with my wife and young son, before catching a morning flight from Pudong Airport which is about 30-40 minutes drive away by car. Check-in was smooth and efficient - although disappointing that the first thing we discussed with the receptionist was the mandatory charge for using the car park. We have driven to many many hotels in different parts of China, and have never had to pay to use the hotel car park - it left us with the feeling of the DoubleTree warmly welcoming us with free check-in cookies, and then almost immediately demanding money back from us. Its not a good first impression (as the advert in the lift/elevator states "its the little things which matter," Yes, agree). The room itself was a good size, very clean and well-appointed - the views across Shanghai were quite impressive, despite the overcast foggy weather. However we found many of the fixtures and fittings a bit dated and could do with replacing, For example, the control panel next to the bed for operating the lights, air-conditioning etc beeps loudly when you activate any of the controls. So if you wish to adjust the air-con in the middle of the night... BEEP! Want to put the night light on to go to the bathroom - BEEP! Not great if you have a young child and a partner also sleeping in the room. There are no plugs next to the bed, therefore overnight mobile phone charging necessitates plugging in at the desk on the opposite side of the room. Furthermore the shower unit is in need of updating - there is no actual handle on the inside of the cubicle door, therefore trying to pull the door closed from the inside to prevent water leaking on the bathroom floor is a challenge.. additionally the shower controls/shower head were confusing to operate. Breakfast was extremely good - the DoubleTree staff in the dining area were friendly, happy to assist and efficient. The range of foods on offer was very good, with a good mix of Chinese and international breakfast options, washed down with nice coffee and a range of fruit juices; the dining room is comfortably presented and set-out. For its convenient location to Pudong Airport, the DoubleTree clearly represents a good option at a reasonable price- however as a base for exploring the many attractions of downtown Shanghai, there are perhaps a lot more up to date, spectacular and central options available.
Where do I start? Let's see... I've stayed in MANY hotels around the world. Some good, some bad. Let me just say this: This was my nicest hotel stay EVER! The walk from the metro station? EASY! The hotel is beautiful inside and the room was MAGNIFICENT! What impressed me the most was the STAFF. (I'm sorry I didn't get their names.) Their politeness and professionalism was OUTSTANDING! After a long flight from Los Angeles, it was nice to be treated the way your front desk staff treated me. The next morning, I went downstairs for breakfast. Once again, the staff was EXCEPTIONAL! The layout of the breakfast food and the ambiance of the whole area was very nice! Everything was good and the price is NICE! I feel bad because I was only in Shanghai for one night. I KNOW where to stay when I go to Shanghai again!
Decent hotel, beautiful lobby area, clean rooms, and very helpful and polite staff. If you have business in the new Pudong area, it’s very convenient, it’s also not far from the bund and Century city area with shops and restaurants.
