The hotel is dated. If review was just on room condition, I would have rated the place " Poor". Our room ( on executive floor) was very stuffy and air conditioning was not working. The staff acted fast upon our request to change room. We were assigned another executive room in which we could open a window to let fresh air coming in. That helped. However, the room had a slight sewage smell. Not a very pleasant stay. The staff was very polite and helpful. Location of the hotel is good.

The hotel is in a convenient location, very close to a subway station. The staff were easy to communicate. The furniture in the rooms we reserved was quite outdated. The breakfast had a lot of options but quality was not good. Some bowls put out there for soups were not thoroughly washed.

The fasility of the hotel is old but well maintained. Doors are made of heavy wood, and the forcet is made of thick real marble. In my stay I felt rich history of this hotel. The location is wonderful. A brand new shopping center is right across the street. Subway station which has 3 lines running through is just 3 mins walk. Though I do not see many of western people, Marriot carries good service in Shanghai still.
