Courtyard by Marriott Shanghai Pudong

4.0 out of 5.0

Recent guest reviews

Front desk personnel and concierge spoke very little english. Hard to get information or answers to questions. Breakfast outstanding.

I know this is a Courtyard and not a full service Marriott, that being said service was great and staff was very friendly and helpful. Rooms are a bit dated, the bed extremely hard and uncomfortable and the room smelled awful. This is not to mention that the "King sized" bed was two twin mattresses put together. Probably the worst night's sleep I had on this trip. Additionally, its very difficult for Orbitz teams to communicate with the local hotel so we were unable to resolve a request.

Everything about this experience was perfect & the fact that they upgraded us to an opulent suite didn't hurt at all! The breakfast, staff & location were superb too. Great first days in China!

The hotel is located two subway stops (line 2) from the LuJiaZui CBD of Pudong New Area, Shanghai (think Oriental Pearl Tower/Jin Mao Tower, SH IFC). The hotel is quite modern with all of the normal appointments. Be sure to mention you are a Marriott Rewards member for FREE INTERNET. The area surrounding the hotel is brand spanking new, so don't expect much culture. Shanghai itself is quite pretentious and shallow, but the hotel served its purpose. Wonderful bed, great/rather large room, refrigerator with appointments (that you can move outside if you need to use the refrig itself), flat panel tv with western channels, balcony (they require signature to come and open), bathtub!!!! with shower, in-room safe and large closets, bathrobes and slippers. We were only disappointed in that we contacted the hotel prior to departure for them to hail a taxi and have our bags preloaded so we could make our flight (via MagLev), and they didn't do a darn thing. ... The tip or lack thereof to the bell hop spoke the words I felt because of this.

I enjoyed the breakfast and the fitness room the most. The people were very helpful and friendly.

We stayed at this hotel for a conference. It's just a short walk from the subway, which made it very easy to get to the convention center, and anywhere else we wanted to go! The hotel staff were also very friendly and helpful.

Would stay there again.

I had stayed in this hotel about 15 days ago and sent another good review. I just want to add it has a good location. I just found out that approx 3 blocks behind this hotel is a road full of great places to eat and shop. I also found out that there are other rooms in some floors that are much nicer than others. I stayed in a much nicer room this time (also a double room). The area is also very secure to walk during day time or night time. I would definitely stay here with my family if they come with me to this city in the future.

The hotel is well located and the people that work here are very friendly and helpful. The food is good, not great but good. The last time I came to Shanghai I stayed at JIN JIANG at Mao Ming Road, and the food at that hotel is superb, so my expectations where very high because of this. However I consider this HOtel (Courtyard) to be an excellent option, better than Jin Jiang if business is the objetive rather than leisure.

Great hotel and extremely helpful Concierge and Bell staff.
