City Hotel Shanghai

3.5 out of 5.0

Considering the price and the location, this hotel is pretty good.

Hotel smells of cigarettes which is not uncommon in China, location is amazing. Policies are problematic- You need to pay to use the Pool!!!

overall it's good and above average. wifi is not good enough and bathroom is small

Slow check in & check out, went I wanted to exchange Money had to come back later because the staff on duty wasn't trained how to. Decent breakfast selection, many staff working but no service, no music made for an uncomfortable setting. Room nice, cleanliness good great shower. Staff service traing would go a long way in increasing the guest experience. With in walking distance to Shopping but not a lot of stuff immediately around hotel.

Did not mentioned clearly breakfast option in online booking . we knew that Our booking didn't include breakfast when we check in.

This hotel is in a great location. It's right in the heart of the French Concession and it's about a 7 minute walk to the metro. They were doing renovation while I was there so there was no view from my window. Staff was attentive and spoke English. Swimming pool and wi-fi in the room is not free (I think wifi was 60rmb for 24 hrs). Non-smoking room available.

My brother told me. don't stay there, but I booked in this hotel thinking my experience would be good, but it wasn't. Old, cold air through windows, odor as street on bathroom.

We paid extra to have access to the gym and pool but the elevator didn't even stop on that floor. When we asked about going to the gym and pool area, we were told that it was closed for repairs until May (three weeks after our stay). They also raised the price of the breakfast 60% during our stay. Only one breakfast per day was included with our room. (they did refund the difference at checkout when I asked).

Overall staff was good, except checkout clerk, didn't seem to know what she was doing. Room was satisfactory but found long hair in bed and all over floor, I have crew cut. Don't think they vacuum the floor.

Very good value. The hotel was quite clean, and the staff was uniformly friendly and helpful. It was a bit distant from the nearest subway station, but still walkable.

If you really need help, they always there and help you;If you don't need, they won't bother you.Good price, good location. what do you expect more?!

pretty nice, especially, super Location!!!
