The staff were kind and efficient, and the location of this historic building is perfect for going to many key spots in Shanghai. However the room was certainly old, stains on the carpet and the bed was just boxsprings with a mattress topper on top. The bathroom was very nice with both a shower and tub, and the amenities were nice. This is an older building but it’s in a great location.

Exceptional customer service. We were checking in late so I tried to ask for a room with good view and newer condition. The staff at reception gave us upgrade into executive suite with excellent lake view, beautiful room and plenty of space. Overall customer service is excellent. This hotel is a historic landmark but is in need of a renovation. Although the room was spacious it had an odd layout and was slightly run down. Carpet is worn down and the room had an odd smell. The bathroom was clean and spacious but wasn’t that usable due to strange design and maintenance issues. The staff was good and the afternoon tea was nice with a good selection of cakes and savoury snacks. Location is good but will require some walking time to get to a metro or convenience store.
