Location is great as other reviewers said. However the hotel is not five-star, but 3-star, I would say. And there are many hotels in the area with similar great location, as well as good price in Shanghai. First the room is not clean. I had to ask to change the room due to the dirty toilet and it is the first time for me to do this in my hotel stays. The new has clean toilet, but smaller and with similar dirty carpet as the first room ( even worse than the first room), and it is a smoking room. We did not ask to move to another room because we were tired and hungry just want to settle down as soon, and did not want more hassles. Then I have to say the service is not five-star. If the hotel room does not meet the basic criteria of cleanliness, guests should not be downgraded to a smaller room. We booked and paid for a room with king size bed and non smoking room the new room only has queen size bed and is smoking room. Anyway, I wouldn't recommend the hotel to others,as it is not the only hotel in that area.

This hotel has amazing location, and has charm (built in 1934) that you don't find in big chain hotels. If you've never been to Shanghai before, I highly recommend staying here given the proximity to the Bund, and to Nanjing Road.

This Hotel is very good located, in front to the Bund and many interesting places to visit I do not recommend the breakfast bufete is very expensive and it is not so good. the Staff service is average, but they do their job well

Great location, close to everything, good food, very convenient

This hotel is located at great area, the bund. And this hotel is classic, old and luxurious. Great nigth life at walking distance. I would definite recommend it to my friend.

Great experience. Would stay there again Great location , super comfortable beds

We stayed here overnight to go to dinner and shopping. Walk distance to the Bund (waterfront area in central Shanghai) and Nanjing Rd. Also walk to small commodities market (Qipu Rd) for various products. Room is a little old, but still clean with a view of the Bund ...nice! However, the foods here is slightly over priced. Anywhere, would recommend and would return.

I stay at this hotel pretty frequently, when I am in Shanghai. Its affordability and location makes this an attractive choice.

The room and hotel were fine. Dining in the hotel was very expensive. The breakfast was over $20 and not very good. The price was reasonable. I requested a non-smoking room and I got a smoking room which smelled. I asked for a single bed and got doubles.

Great value for a 5 star hotel in Shanghai. I only paid 90 dollars a night. However, upon arrival, notified no more king beds and instead got two double beds even though it was just me traveling. The breakfast tastes very mediocre to bad for 148 yuan or w.e it is. It's on the bund so there's not much good restaurants around. A small shop next door open til 4 am is OK. If you want good food and is a traveler to Shanghai... Good luck, better ask a friend. It's on the bund so there are some really nice bars around, you can walk in the direction of the hyatt all the way down to a super classy bar / lounge. There are lots of other ones right across the bridge like bar rouge, club vueve. Overall GREAT price for its value.

The hotel was well above my expectations. It is in probably the best area from which to explore Shanghai. The staff were extremely attentive and friendly and the room was huge and spotless. The view out over the river was amazing. Not a single complaint.

The hotel is at the end of the Shanghai Bund with river view rooms that have great views down the Bund. I upgraded to the executive level and I suggest that others consider doing so. The views are better and there are additional amenities (breakfast, internet, tea time) that you must pay for in other rooms. The room was clean, but the carpet had been shampooed recently and was still damp. The air conditioner did not turn on so we asked for help. It was explained that the building had not turned on the air conditioning yet. It was May in Shanghai with temperatures regularly in the 80s. Other than that it was a good place to stay.

Location good, but carpet in rooms consistently dirty. Great updated bathrooms, but carpet is a real turn off.

I stayed at the Broadway Mansion three times before this visit and really enjoyed the hotel. So when my daughter said that she was coming to China for a visit, I booked rooms at the hotel. She was coming during the October holiday, a very busy travel time in China. So I contacted the hotel three times between making the reservation in August and our arrival in early October. Each time I mentioned that we wanted king size beds and that we would arrive at 5:00 PM and would the rooms be reserved for us. Each time I was guaranteed that this would happen. When we arrived we were put into rooms that did not have a king size bed and were just not very nice. I was told that they defined king size beds differently than my booking agency and that there were no other rooms available. We were promised that we would be moved the next day and they did. No offer of a refund of any kind was made. So, after three good experiences in the hotel, we had a disappointing experience. I will definitely look for other hotels in Shanghai after this experience. I would caution any friend about the hotel an dgive the hotel a luke warm recommendation.

Smoky hallways, my room had at least 4 feet high stacks of dirty laundry next to the door every day, was above the kitchen, very noisy.. View of a dirty ledge outside the window (condom wrappers) and a small slice of sky. When I approached the manager, his reply was to "stay at a different hotel next time." There are many good hotels in Shanghai...next time I will stay at one of them.

Great location, perfect for walking. Clean, comfortable room and bathroom. No free internet access. It didn't occur to me that a hotel would not have free wireless access to the internet. Instead, they want to charge you some outrageous per day rate to access the internet or upgrade your room for a significantly higher rate than initially purchased which would include internet access. Very disappointing.

Excellent location, beautiful view, comfortable room, but rather expensive breakfast for the limited selections.

Great location, helpful stafff Beds are uncomfortable

I first visited Shanghai 25 years ago and the Broadway Mansions Hotel has been around since the 1930's - still my favorite place to stay in Shanghai. The location is excellent - right at the top of the Bund with a great view of the curve of the river. The breakfast was great. We upgraded to get the internet and a higher floor, but that probably wasn't required. The beds were good, room was clean, shower was great. We were glad to have a room on the non-smoking floor.
