Shallotte Cottage

Quaint cottage on the river. Very peaceful. Clean and well furnished interior. Nice pier for fishing and relaxing. Quiet area. Just put your blinders on when arriving and leaving the property. We would visit again.

It was very peaceful after getting past the deceiving entry to neighborhood, which was quiet. The road into the neighborhood could use some repairs. No channel guide for TV, no coffee filters for coffee pot

Shallotte river house

As stated in other reviews, driving through the neighborhood made us feel a little unsure. After we got to the house it was better. There had been a rainstorm sometime before we arrived and tree debris was all over the driveway. We had to clean off before entering the house with a shovel, the drain was not working properly. The house was nice, clean, and had all the needed amenities. The pier was nice, we did some fishing but didn’t have any luck. The gas grill worked with no problem. It was a pretty view to look out in the morning and evening. It was pretty quiet too. Vacasa was very responsive to my concern about the driveway.

Not safe & disappointed

I do not recommend staying at this property or engaging with this property host company. The interactions are mostly automated and any problems you have the individuals on the phone are very scripted and can’t address your concerns. I arrived and found that a window off the master bedroom would not lock. I did not feel safe since I was traveling on my own. I did not stay for either of the two nights. They did not budge from their no refund policy without 30 days prior notification. Not sure how I could notify them in advance of a safety concern that you can only discover onsite. No refund for either night was issued, no refund for the extra I paid for a late check out and no refund for the cleaning fee that they wouldn’t have needed since I didn’t stay at the property. I do not feel they genuinely care about the safety of their customers.

Excellent for fishing

Had a very pleasant experience staying here. The house was clean, well stocked and in a convenient location. We loved the dock and spent most of our time fishing and crabbing. The house comes with 2-3 crab pots and is located in an ideal spot for fishing. Would for sure come back again!

Loved the home...perfect size for my husband and I and our dog. Very unique home...could be in a much better neighborhood but its on the water and not an issue once you get to the house, unless I was paying more.
