Quiet 2-bedroom mountain cabin overlooking Shady Valley
We recommend a 4WD or AWD vehicle for winter. Getting up here isn't difficult, but the road can be challenging to descend until it has been plowed. We usually get 30 inches or so each winter (though a single snowfall only lasts a few days).
Originally built as a tiny house, the home has been thoughtfully expanded to 550 square feet to create a more welcoming space. The one-acre fenced in yard works for dogs or kids, though very little of it is level. The front porch has attachment points for leashes, making it perfect for the dogs to be outside, but able to move under the porch into the shade should the temperature warrant. Speaking of the temperature, the summers here are very nice, and we'll average a handful of days each some that reach 90 degrees. In general in the summer, we are 10 degrees cooler during the days that down in Bristol or Kingsport.
One of the best features of this elevation is the ability to sit on the porch and truly enjoy the view. Thanks to the consistent breezes and cooler temperatures, mosquitoes and other bugs are rarely an issue. The entire house is available for your enjoyment. We've updated everything but the utility room/closet. The washer and dryer are available, though we'd ask that you use the non-perfumed detergent provided if you need to wash something. This helps us ensure that we keep smells as neutral as possible, to be considerate of the needs of a broad range of guests.
Outside the house, you may also use the fenced in yard. There are also a couple sheds, but there shouldn't be anything in them that you need. Be careful walking about, since portions of the property are steep or covered in long grass/weeds.
