Abanico a great place to stay for Semana Santa. Several processions right by the front door, and most can be viewed within a 10-15 minute walk. The front desk staff very helpful with the procession routes, times, viewing locations, as well as anything else you might need. Rooms are relatively small, with little storage space, but pretty much par for the course for a small Spanish hotel. Bed was comfy. Good hot water, and room very clean. Temperature is not directly controlled - there's an on/off for cool air, but it pretty much is kept off during the day, on in the evening. So the rooms can be chilly at bedtime, and warm by midday. Not a huge deal for us, but less than optimal. The room was very quiet, little street noise and only occasionally could hear the middle of the night procession bands, faintly. Breakfast I thought was super - lots of choices, albeit not too many hot options. But fresh fruit most days, yogurts, pastries and breads, meat and cheeses. And the coffee machine is available most of the day, and is pretty good. The public spaces of the hotel are nice, especially if you need to spend time doing any work activities or writing. The internet connection doesnt drop, but the speed is not particularly fast - and i think fluctuates based on the number of users. Not high speed but good enough for email. Would stay here again!
A very nice little hotel within walking distance of the sights of downtown Seville. The hotel is nothing fancy,, but has a distinct and charming look. The staff is very nice and accommodating. The breakfast was OK, but nothing special. We had construction workers starting up next to our room at 0800 hrs on a weekday. The work was not connected to the hotel and only affected a couple of rooms (we had 104 I think). We were getting up anyway, so it wasn't an issue. The cab ride from the airport was 25 euros and taxis go by the front door frequently. We stayed there 4 days total and would do so again.
Great locale in Santa Cruz within walking distance of most tourist attractions. Lots of character and friendly staff. Would definitely stay there again should I be fortunate enough to return to Seville.
Started off ok. We had a large room on an upper floor, two singles and a day bed for my 18 year old and I. Old building so things a bit musty. I had a complaint the next day on the state of our room on checkin and I was met with disbelief. I wish I never said anything. I rarely actually complain to a proprietor, but this was a significant matter. We paid for breakfast in the morning and we could have done better outside the hotel for less money. We had to leave luggage for a few hours and when we returned, we were told to just stand outside and wait for a taxi, the hotel would not call one for us. This seemed really unfriendly and strange. In the end, very glad I got the room on a flash sale price.
I can't speak highly enough of this comfortable, spacious hotel with its friendly staff and excellent breakfast. My single-person room was huge and included a bath, shower, separate toilet and a safe. The lobby has an area where guests can help themselves to free hot drinks, biscuits, mand even sample local orange wine. The location is great, about 10-mins walk from the Alcazar and Cathedral. The staff will advise on other local amenities and will also book you a taxi. I will definitely come back here've the next time I visit Seville.m
The Hotel Abanico was very friendly and welcoming. It served all our needs for a short break as It is well situated for the centre of Seville. The taxi from the airport (€32) dropped us at the door in a very narrow cobblestone street, so it is a case of drop and go. Double room on first floor was comfortable. Bathroom clean and tidy. Very nice complimentary coffee and biscuits are available in the foyer. 3 stars is a fair grade.
As others have said, the hotel's in a great location in the maze of the old Santa Cruz area. Most of the main sights are within an easy walk. It's a lovely old typically styled building with a fabulous inner courtyard. Interestingly decorated with quirky antiques. Beware when stepping out of the front door - the street is very narrow and very busy, and you virtually step out straight onto the road! When we arrived we really didn't like the room we'd been allocated, which was on the ground floor. It was very dark and smelt a bit musty. Luckily they had another room available on the top (2nd) floor which was fine. Pretty basic but comfortable and with a nice internal courtyard outside the window. The breakfast was very disappointing however - not much choice and pretty basic fare. I really don't get the rave breakfast reviews from other travellers - they must have fairly limited expectations or experiences. On the other hand the staff were very friendly and helpful, certainly as much as we needed them for info, etc. Not sure if we would stay here again when in Seville, but certainly a good basic choice for a short stay.
We only had two nights in Sevilla, so appreciated how central this was and how easy it was to walk to many great parts of Sevilla. It's on a narrow street, with many good restaurants, bakeries, and bars seconds and minutes away.
This pretty hotel is perfectly located within walking distance of all the historic sights of Sevilla. The room was quite comfortable; clean and quiet and a nice bathroom. There is coffee available all day, and the breakfast is very tasty and a good value! The staff are quite helpful and friendly as well. There are many bars, restaurants, and shops within an easy walk. A great choice in Sevilla.
Well located hotel in old section of Seville. Walking distance to major sites and good restaurants nearby. Staff very helpful. Hotel is nicely decorated and very comfortable rooms. Coffee and cookies available in lobby is a nice touch
