beautiful hotel, full of character and with excellent service. added bonus was an escalator, not always available in an old building. breakfast was a buffet of cheeses, meats and omelettes and breads, all fresh and delicious.

We stayed at the Alcoba del Rey de Sevilla for two nights during New Year's celebrations. The hotel is located in the Macarena district, a 20m walk to the historic centre. The neighborhood of the hotel is very nice and full of good restaurants and bars where you can find mostly locals. The rooms are original, cozy clean and comfortable. The staff is very very nice and helpful. Overall, a very good option and we would recommend it if you are in Sevilla. Do try the restaurant, el Rincón de Rosita!
This small hotel with a Moorish-inspired design emphasis is located in La Macarena, just across from the regional parliament and next to the Basilica, and easily accessible via taxi or city bus. It’s in a bustling neighborhood (outside the tourist zone and not quaint), but the street noise was not intrusive inside the hotel. Fun, little neighborhood shops are nearby—a sherry shop, flamenco supplies, a churros-and-chocolate stand, the terrific Lonja de Feria market, and the Thursday flea market. Rooms are upstairs, around a central patio (covered with a glass roof). Beautiful plaster work and arches are evoke the Moorish era and Arabian nights. The design concept is eye-catching, but the property suffers some maintenance issues (e.g., the tired rooftop terrace) and noise from the lobby does funnel upstairs quite a lot. Our room (Caid Axafat) was colorful, spacious, and had filtered natural light (no views). The bathroom looks quaint, with brass sconce lights, metal basins, and arched-frame mirrors. But the tiny shower stall has no curtain, so the entire bathroom area quickly became slippery (and required sacrificing one of the small towels to dry it), and a repair work patch on the tiny shower floor was painfully rough. A switch blew a fuse and we lost all lights the one morning we needed to leave early for a reservation (it was repaired within a half-hour). Nice details, but a bit rough around the edges. The staff is friendly and helpful—especially the young woman who runs the breakfast in the attached café (kudos for great service, a friendly smile, and a nice assortment of breakfast foods). They offer nice touches—fresh flowers for the room and a bottle of cava.
We stayed at Alcoba Del Rey on our honeymoon and this hotel is a gem of a find! The entire hotel has a very Turkish feel and decor which makes you feel like you are in an Arabian Nights story. The rooms are whimsically fabulous, the washrooms are clean and exotic and the service is impeccable! The food at the restaurant is mouth watering ... I am running out of adjectives in praise of this property. Thank you Alcoba for a wonderful stay!
This friendly little economy hotel has a very authentic feel of Moorish Spain from the moment you walk inside, an impression which is added to by the individuality of the bedrooms located off two galleried corridors. There are nice little touches everywhere, from the fountain in the lobby to the horseshoe arches and atmospheric decor. Our double room had a wonderfully decorative plasterwork ceiling and sunken bath/shower area, and although it was a bit gloomy it was also very restful, with a truly comfortable bed and soft pillows. There was very little noise from the busy street. Breakfast was varied and good, served in a room which becomes Rosita's restaurant in the evening - we dined here twice, and enjoyed both meals (the house Rioja was excellent). The hotel is about half an hour's easy stroll from the historic centre of Seville, and is close to an area called Alameda de Hercules, where there are bars and restaurants. It is also virtually next door to the church of La Macarena, which is truly beautiful. The staff at the hotel speak good English and are all friendly and helpful, ensuring that we enjoyed our stay with them. Oh, and the wifi was good, too.
Booked this hotel through the reviews I had read and was jot disappointed. The hotel is in Macarena district but very easy to walk into the main centre. I loved the authenticity of the hotel and the area. The staff were extremely helpful and we loved our room. The beds are extremely comfortable and the breakfast very good and proper coffee. Also the showers are like having a rain shower falling in you. Very good value and we would stay here again in a heart beat. Tapas bars abound in the area and you are mixing with the local residents as opposed to tourists.
We were in Sevilla for a conference but decided to skip the conference hotel for something rather more authentic and closer to the centre, and we added an extra day for sight seeing. This hotel was perfect. The staff could not have been more welcoming. The Morish decor was fun, and the bath was pretty much a swimming pool! There was a pleasing roof garden with a jacuzzi which was fine for sunbathing, and there was an inexpensive small resto/bar which was used to serve the fine free breakfast in the morning and served a good range of tapas and racione's, and a good selection of fresh fish at meal times. Excellent atmosphere and friendly staff. The hotel is a 20 min walk from the centre, but there is plenty of life in this area of town too and it's 5 mins from the river. For us this hotel was infinitely more pleasing than some generic chain hotel without atmosphere.
This small hotel is made spacious by a central lobby, decorated in beautiful plasterwork. The rooms are set on two galleries around this. I believe that the rooms are all different. Ours was certanly very nice, with an open shower set between two beaten metal basins. The location is at the northern edge of the old town, about two kilometres from the central tourist district around the Cathedral and Alcazar, so it is best suited to folk who aren't afraid of a bit of walking. The hot tub on the roof terrace is a splendid place to recover from a long day exploring the many narrow streets of the old town.
We were given a warm welcome and shown to our room. It was beautiful and spotless. It was at the front with windows on two sides giving get views onto the street. The room was lovely, the bed comfortable and the shower really good. Unfortunately I am an extremely light sleeper and it was a bit noisy for me. When we went for breakfast I asked if they had a quieter room. I was anxious about doing this but the concierge was amazing and after breakfast we were moved to a room at the rear of the hotel. Again the room was beautiful. This room had its own small courtyard space and was so peaceful. Every day the room was cleaned with sheets and towels changed. The breakfast was varied and copious. I would also recommend the restaurant which is attached to the hotel, Rincon de Rosyth. It was full of locals and we were made to feel very welcome and not tourists. Our stay was amazing. I would definitely recommend this hotel. The only suggestion I would make is that you advise of any personal preference when you book. As each room has its own character and the features differ. This will enable you to be given the perfect room.
