Trollhaugen—Enjoy Spring and Summer in the Great Smoky Mountains

'Ahhh…' guests exhale upon returning to Trollhaugen after strolling the sidewalks of Gatlinburg, taking-in the excitement in Pigeon Forge, or shopping the outlet malls in Sevierville. Enjoy the serenity and quietly wonderful views of Mt. LeConte and the woods while relaxing in the deck rockers, deck and patio chaise lounges, or the private hot tub. It's a welcome counterpoint to the day's activities. Twilight approaches, and the softly romantic light from under the railing invites grilling and dining on the deck. The truly sharp eyed might even spy a troll in the woods just as dusk turns to darkness!

Romance in the air? Trollhaugen has hosted a number of weddings on the deck, with the woods and mountains as the backdrop, and it makes a wonderful honeymoon chalet. Or, perhaps you’re looking for a family vacation—then Trollhaugen’s child-friendly yard and 1.8 acres are especially inviting. Planning for a getaway with friends? Having a bedroom, bathroom, and sitting area on each level, Trollhaugen allows for the occasional sense of solitude and a chance to read or just relax.

For those persuaded that golf is something more than “a good walk spoiled,” Trollhaugen lies just 7 miles from the beautiful mountain Gatlinburg Golf Course, 10 miles from Bent Creek Golf Course, 14 miles from the Sevierville Golf Club, 23 miles from River Islands Golf Course, and 30 miles to either the Dandridge or Patriot Hills courses. If you prefer your walk without clubs, Trollhaugen sits just 8 miles from the nearest entrance to the Great Smoky Mountain National Park with extensive hiking trails. If you also enjoy your sports without the walk, each LCD TV in the cabin receives DirecTV’s HD Sports Pack.

With an enchanting open view of Mt. LeConte and the woods across a wonderfully landscaped large yard, Trollhaugen is a beautiful three bedroom, three bathroom, Heritage log cabin—clean and tastefully furnished. Situated on 1.8 acres of gorgeous Smoky Mountain seclusion and quiet, yet the Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, and Sevierville attractions are all easily reached from Trollhaugen.

The living area on the main level features a stone gas fireplace made of river rock, surrounded with a comfortable sofa, swivel reclining chair, and hassock, arranged around a unique stone coffee table. The fully equipped kitchen also has an enclosed washer and dryer. The adjacent dining area has an expandable dining table with eight chairs. Two wrought-iron dining tables with umbrellas, rocking chairs, two chaise lounges, and a gas grill sit on the wrap-around deck reached though a pair of sliding doors on this level—providing a wonderful place to dine outside or just to enjoy the great view. The bedroom on this level has a queen bed, a LCD TV with DirecTV Genie 2 HD and DVR, and a full bath.

The loft has a pleasant sitting area with a computer desk, Humanscale task chair, swivel reclining chair, ottoman, and windows with great views in all four directions. The loft bedroom has a queen bed, a full bath, LCD TV with DirecTV Genie 2 HD and DVR plus a DVD player.

The lower-level family room—with a pool table, LCD TV with DirecTV Genie 2 HD, DVR, and DVD player, and a DVD movie library, board games, and books—also contains an upholstered recliner chair, ottoman, and queen sleeper sofa. The private hot tub, two bistro tables, wrought-iron chairs, and a chaise lounge occupy the patio which is reached from the family room through a sliding door. The bedroom on this floor features a king bed, LCD TV with DirecTV Genie 2 HD and DVR, and full bath.

Each LCD TV in the cabin receives the 330-channel DirecTV HD Premier package. The HD Premier package includes the Sports Pack, HBO, Showtime Unlimited, Starz Super Pack, Cinemax, and satellite radio music programming channels. The DirecTV Genie 2 also provides On Demand programming for each TV. AT&T U-verse provides free domestic telephone calls plus high-speed wireless Internet access throughout the cabin, deck, and yard. Each bathroom in the cabin provides a wall-mounted hair dryer, illuminated makeup mirror, and tub with personal shower and ARC shower rod. Each bedroom contains a phone and alarm clock AM/FM radio. The living and family rooms also have phones. Lutron Maestro dimmer switches control lights throughout the cabin. An answering machine records incoming messages while you’re away from the cabin.

Concerned about an electrical power outage? Never lasts more than ten seconds at Trollhaugen, which is equipped with a full-house standby Kohler generator and automatic transfer switch. It detects any loss of utility power and automatically generates electricity for the whole house until power from the grid is restored.

Reached by paved roads, Trollhaugen provides ample flat off-street parking. There’s plenty of parking space even for your visitors.

Not very clean

We really loved the house at first glance. Very cute, lovely area, however my linens in the master smelled of cigarette smoke, the beds were quite uncomfortable and we are all covered in bites, so although we can’t say for sure, possible bed bugs were present. The plumbing is very poor-toilets barely flushed. I’m really disappointed because there was so much to love about this property.

Beautiful scenery

We had to change our original booking due to a family emergency and Sue was wonderful in working with us. We were able to rebook for the same amount of days a couple months after. The cabin was everything we hoped for. It was peaceful and private. It was my husband, son and my mother. We each had our own space and our own bathroom. I saw reviews about the stairs being narrow and might be hard to navigate, pictures showed the stairs and they were a little tricky for my mom who has balancing issues and arthritis. She stayed on the main floor but was able to navigate the stairs. The kitchen was stocked with utensils and cookware. We truly enjoyed our stay it was beautiful. There were paperbacks available to read in all the rooms, as well as board and card games downstairs. Those touches made a difference as we had family game nights which was a nice way to unplug and just be. Would definitely recommend.

We Loved It!

It was a great place to unwind and laugh with the family. We used the hot tub and pool table frequently! It wasn’t to far to the attractions we wanted to go to. We loved discovering all the trolls and troll pictures that were in the cabin! Will definitely reserve that cabin again.

Great weekend getaway!

We really enjoyed our stay at the Trollhaugen cabin in Sevierville. The cabin was beautiful, as well as the location. It was very well equipped with everything we might need, and the sunrises and sunsets viewed from the back deck were gorgeous! The owner was very nice and informative about our upcoming stay and we would definitely stay again!

Great Location for an Epic Vacation

Trollhaugen is a beautiful little cabin in the mountains. The location is perfect if you're looking for quick access to the excitement of Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge and/or a quiet, serene getaway. We comfortably fit 4 adults and 1 child, although I wouldn't have added any more. The kitchen is well stocked with most necessities, which made cooking for our group so easy. There is a large selection of books in case you forget to pack one, as well as board games for some family entertainment. They have helpful signage and instruction cards/books around the house to assist with appliances, policies, etc. We found the answers to our questions within those instructions. Sue was timely in providing the basic check in information, including helpful directions, property address, and wifi password before our arrival. As other reviews have mentioned, there is a significant temperature difference from the loft to the lower level, but we managed it with the fans and extra blankets in every room. Due to the large windows above the sliders and skylights, there is a ton of natural light in the loft area all day, starting as soon as the sun rises. It's not a problem, but something to keep in mind when determining sleeping arrangements. Having morning coffee on the deck was easily my favorite part! The view is gorgeous and there is plenty of seating. I fully intend to return to Trollhaugen for future Tennessee vacations.

Quiet getaway

The house was in the perfect location to Gatlinburg. We really enjoyed being surrounded by the woods. The neighbor was very friendly. For being a small kitchen it had everything you could imagine to cook. You don’t have to bring a thing. The house was very clean, modern but yet still giving you that cabin feel.

The cabin was not quite as big as I expected. The bathrooms were a little cramped. The stove had an issue with the warming burner which caused an issue with being able to cook like we had planned. We had a great time being together. Having a pool table, books, games, WiFi, and multiple TVs made our time at the cabin more entertaining and relaxing.

Beautiful views, well equipped kitchen

I knew the views would be wonderful, and they didn't disappoint! The biggest surprise is how well equipped the kitchen is. Plenty of kitchen gear for cooking some great meals. Not a big kitchen but plenty of room for the chef! The property manager was very quick to answer questions, and they provided lots of helpful instructions throughout the property to make things like the hot tub easy to use. I'll definitely be back!

Simply just send me the wifi code

We spent the first night without internet just because she didn’t have the curtesy to send us the wifi password. Kept replying to my inquiries with copy paste with the same first message which read “find the wifi code in BOOKS up in loft main level and basement ” We looked in all the 6 BOOKS WHICH INCLUDES ALL THE APPLIANCES INSTRUCTIONS BUT NOTHING ABOUT THE WIFI CODE. Disappointed. Despite all of that we left the place cleaner that it was and we recorded all of that before leaving early 😌

Smokey mountain vacation

The property and cabin was a bit smaller than we realized and we were a little cramped but overall we made it work. It could have been cleaned better, the details in floors and corners looked untouched, and some bird droppings outside the kitchen door on the deck when walking outside, not sure what that was from. The drive was outside of town with mountains all around. The beds were comfy and the cabin provided all the essentials. It was a good location to everything and overall we enjoyed our stay.
