It was my first trip to Bali. After visiting Ubud for a couple of days I decided to move to Seminyak. Therefore, I popped in to Woobar for an evening cocktails before flying home that night. What a great to see sunset while sipping your favourite drinks and listening to a perfect mix! Special thanks to Pally, the manager and also other staffs there for your hospitality. I will come back! Lots love! Shina xo
I’m just putting another shout out to my favourite hotel the W Seminyak. While Seminyak and Canggu have just kept growing over the past few years, this hotel holds its own. It’s so settled and comfy in its own skin but by no means complacent. It’s relaxed glam at its best and I can say that the staff are easily what makes the difference. Absolutely nothing is too much trouble and even on a short stay you walk away wrapped in a doona of W love. We will be back. Xx Julie and James
I have been visiting the W Bali at least once a year, sometimes 3x I’m Canadian but have lived between Tokyo and Sydney for the last 20 years. I’ve not always resided on the properly but whenever I always make a point to visit Woo Bar for sunset drinks or taking a moment to myself in the lobby lounge). I celebrated my 40th birthday in August 2017 and 7 of my closest friends flew over to celebrate and Mr Lee couldn’t have taken better care of us (it was the champagne brunch). And since then he has always made an effort to help me with booking daybeds / sofas during my visits. The real standout at the W has to be Rika. I think I first met her in 2005 during my first stay and she couldn’t have been more hospitable, professional, warm and engaging. I am extremely brand loyal (admittedly I was disappointed Marriott was taking over Starwood as I was such a Starwood loyalist) but was impressed nothing seemed to have changed during my 4 night stay this past week. I would also like to mention Polly, Sukara and Fairy - every time I come they remember me and always take the time to have a chat, I have stayed at many W’s but I believe the staff at W Bali are the best of any property I have visited. It's not the most economical property in Bali, but it is definitely worth a visit, in particular the ocean facing rooms or the villas, so private and extremely spacious. Never, ever disappointed when I have stayed or even popped in for a drink at Woo Bar if staying elsewhere.
GM Craig and his wingman Andreus deftly manage a lively hotel staff that provides exceptional service with a smile. As as Titanium Bonvoyager and MVC owner, I requested a room upgrade through the BV chat line two days before arrival. They gave me the name of the Bali W's loyalty staff. I opted to email the GM instead. He had his ambassador Ale handle everything with me via WhatsApp before we left home! Our hotel driver Gus deftly wormed his way from the airport to Seminyak. Ale was waiting for us when we arrived. It was like meeting a long lost friend. Andreus upgraded us to a gorgeous one bedroom villa with its own private pool and cabana. Housekeeping was fantastic. Although the beach is wide and clean, the surf is too rough for any activities including surfing. However, there are plenty of heated pools on site, plus cabanas. We enjoyed the massages and relaxing environs at Away. Same treatments available on the beach front. The Woo Bar was beautiful, but not hopping like other W's. Maybe the repetitive amorphous techno thumping was a turnoff most nights. The real highlight for us was the restaurants. Cusine Director, Beryl Adler, an affable refugee in Paradise from the USA, ensured that every guest on any diet can enjoy his recipes from around the world. We spent time talking and joking about everything from pastrami sandwiches to ikan bakar, to various Bonvoy properties around the world. His Fire breakfast buffet was bigger than it looked. Check the separate table menu for goodies made to order. Seafood is always fresh and prepared any way you want. Grilled fish Balinese style was our fave, even better when dining on the beach at Starfish Bloo. Be sure to engage the friendly Balinese waitstaff, especially Surfer AK in Fire. They all speak English and love conversing with guests. Suggestions: Use the hotels buggy service to/from the villas to avoid a long walk on cobblestones to the main building and to the Seminyak main shopping and more outside the W. Use Grab or Gojek instead of the blue taxis. Taxis are famous for overcharging tourists 2x-3x more. They all can pick up and deliver at the hotel's reception area. Use your Bonvoy points to avoid the steep 11% tax and 10% service charges. Give yourself an hour to drive from the airport to hotel or back. Traffic is a nightmare from 3pm to 6pm every day.
From the moment you walk into the hotel lobby you are greeted with smiles and positive energy and Bali Vibes! As a business owner, it is important to recognize incredible team members of this well-run establishment! W Lounge- Oka, Ari, Asti I literally spent half a day with Tri Sulistyowati who runs the W gift shop, she was such special company! She made my stay! Lastly, Mike’s Zakharia Novihelen was the epitome of what customer service should be. This man needs to be moved up to the top!!!!!! What an asset this man is to this W hotel! Thank you again for such a memorable stay! :)
I stayed at this hotel with my husband to spend time with family staying nearby. The rooms are huge and very cool and modern. The pool is also great but it can be quite hard to get loungers because people put their stuff on them so early in the morning to reserve them. The food was just average and because you can walk to many places in seminyak I would just eat outside of the hotel. We did their famous Sunday brunch at Starfish Bloo and most of the food was disappointing, especially for the price. My main complaint was that I felt I was being questioned all the time about whether or not I was staying at the hotel. My brother and his family were not staying at the hotel but had a pass to use all the facilities. The staff kept coming over and questioning us and they never did it to the others around us. I felt that because we were Chinese we were being targeted. They even told us that we couldn't reserve loungers for too long if we weren't using them but I saw so many other people doing it without a word being said to them. Overall, the treatment marred the experience and I wouldn't stay there again.
What a wonderful place. Stayed in Pool Villa (Again) and had great privacy and when feel like action out to W Bar and pool. Best of both worlds. Food is great in both restaurants. Thank you Rai, Eddy and Jack for looking after us. Thank you Craig. You definitely know what you are doing. Will be back.
This place is amazing! Stayed at the one bedroom villa! Just beautiful .... great service, friendly staff.. everything was just magnificent! Especially like to Thank Dharma and Ho (concierge) who made our stay even more special. We definitely come back! Thank you
3 words... OH MY GOD! I love, love, LOVE this place. The staff, the place, the cleanliness... the service and amenities available... EVERYTHING! You're central to pretty much everything (or a least a short walk) and the in-house restaurants pretty much have you covered in all culinary quests you may be on. The pool is amazing, with an abundance of sunloungers and day beds available which are only allowed for guests staying at the hotel. There are a few day beds at their WOOBAR which are available for booking for "outsiders" too but these are set back from the others. On Sundays they hold a bottlemless brunch event and it can get quite busy but otherwise you're in for a treat when you stay here. A must - opt for the breakfast as it's bloody delicious and make sure you try FIRE out one evening for a delicious steak and wine. I can't go back to Bali without staying here again.
Coming almost to it’s ten years old anniversary since the W Bali opened in 2010, my wife and I were a little anxious about our next upcoming four night stay at this resort, amongst other hotels, over two weeks on Bali pondering whether the resort may have reached its time for rejuvenation. We need not to have been concerned. Our fourth stay at this iconic W met every expectation and they were indeed high ! Over the last twenty plus years, we have stayed at dozens of hotels on Bali in all areas including from Sanur to Jimbaran and Nusa Dua to Ubud and the W continues to be right up there with the very best. Many hotels on Bali claim to have the best breakfast including some excellent ones such as the St Regis, The Legian and Ritz Carlton however sitting outside for breakfast metres from the beachside with the roaring surf at Starfish Bloo and Icebar with the stellar service with its abundant buffet, multiple cooking stations and a la carte options is an absolute highlight and an event in itself and demands a lingering first meal of the day. The location of the hotel is again prime and the buggy service to the main street of Jalan Petitenget avoids the need for your own transport and our habit is to return the rental car we normally rent on arrival. An abundance of high quality restaurants are within walking distance including our new favourite Sangsaka. Recognition for Titanium Elite status is excellent from the inclusive of breakfast, prompt attention to pre-arrival emails , flexible approach to check out and room upgrade. The stars of the hotel are its service team notably the boys around the pools from setting up your umbrellas for shade & towels on lounges, serving cool canapés, cleaning your sun glasses etc. Special mention must be made about the hotel’s manager Andreas and front office Manager Rika who made my wife and I feel truly welcomed and valued returning guests. Searching for minor negatives, I would encourage the GM Craig and his management team to consider - a “no reserve” policy with cabanas and pool lounges (it’s frustrating at peak times to see so many lounges reserved with the ubiquitous magazine and sun screen and not occupied for hours); - providing a proper coffee machine in all rooms and - priority to hotel guests accessing the golf buggies on returning to the hotel at the main entrance
