Good location. Many of our favorite restaurants are <1 mile away. Staff speaks English well, but most of the restaurant staff in Le Havre is not so good at English. Standard breakfast spread with breads, cheeses, sliced meat, juices, and English breakfast items. No macaroons, unlike another French Mercure I visited. Amenities were minimal: literally just soap. The shower had the combined shampoo and body soap attached to the wall; the sink had a personal tube of soap. My shower was wide open and water got all over my sink every time. I don't understand why Mercure showers are always so minimalistic in their splash prevention.
We arrived around 11pm and were welcomed by the most friendly receptionist in Le Havre. Matthieu thank you for your hospitality and great advice about the neighborhood and where to visit. We enjoyed your company and are grateful for the time you invested in us. When we arrived in our room, there was a bottle of cidre waiting for us as a birthday gift to my husband. Much appreciated! The rooms have recently been renovated and it shows, nothing to comment. The only issue we had was with the air conditioning as it is generally regulated throughout the hotel, there is no on or off button in the room. You can only change the temperature but we felt like that wasn't really effective either. Continental breakfast has everything you can expect. Fresh fruits, different types of bread, yogurts, bacon, sausages, beans, boiled and scrambled eggs, different kinds of cheese and ham etc. Everything was fresh and tasty except for the scrambled eggs, they were not my taste. Drinks included tea, coffee, milk, fresh orange juice,... Great location, extremely friendly staff in all departments. The restaurant and bar are currently under construction but there wasn't any noise at all. The temporary reception, lobby and restaurant are nicely designed and do not feel like a temporary solution at all. However I do believe that once the rest of the hotel is completely finished it will be an extra added value. If you are looking for good value for money paid, than this place should definitely be on your list.
Stayed here four nights at the end of a trip around France. Stayed in a suite. Convenient for the station, though we got lost on our way there, and very handy for the the town centre and attractions in Le Havre itself. Very good service overall. We had our drinks in our fridge replenished each day (not sure if this is standard). When we needed to relax we enjoyed watching the ferries docking and departing from our room window. A short walk to the ferry port. Would stay again.
We stayed here for business during July 2017. The area where the hotel is located seems very worn down, including the parking garage which you enter through a backyard that gives the impression of a garbage storage, it is not a very inviting first impression of the property. I understand that the lobby undergoes renovation, so I won't comment on the area. The rooms itself are pretty small and despite a recent renovation I lacked several things: the light in the rooms is extremely low due to very small windows. Further, the room does not have individual air condition units but a ventilation that apparently can be adjusted by temperature: it was 22 degrees outside and to be honest I didn't feel any difference when regulating the room ventilation: the room was constantly hot with a very bad air quality. Opening the window doesn't help because it is so small that no sufficient air exchange is happening. Further, you will then be awaken by constant seagull noise, which made me eventually close the windows again. This negatively impacts the sleeping quality quite a bit, and it is unfortunately something i discovered with many Mercure properties in France. This is why i take off 2 points from my review. The renovation is done at the surface and gives the room a nicer look, but it does not improve the overall quality experience I am afraid. I'll try another property in Le Havre next time.
We stayed 6 nights and booked the largest room with a view... maybe we should have chosen a standard room and keep our expectations low... On our arrival we discovered that our largest room didn't get a king size bed (explanation of the receptionist: largest rooms get a queen!!!). So we had to insist a lot to get a king size the day after (they put a king size mattress over the queen base!!!). On our arrival we reserved a parking spot for our all stay and that same day, coming back after dinner, we realized our spot had been sold to someone else and there was no more spots for us. The largest room has quite a small bathroom with no shelves and a pretty small closet good enough for one person staying 6 nights. Wifi was very poor and finally fixed the day before our departure, the TV command didn't command the sound and depending on the channels it was impossible to hear anything (this wasn't fixed). Being in a Mercure we expected higher standards than what we got.
We had an excellent 6 day stay in the beginning of July 2017. The hotel lobby was under construction and restaurant was placed to a meeting room area. Still - this did not bother at all. The staff was kindest and most helpful, breakfast was good, beds were comfortable and even restaurant food was - against all expectations - tasty. The hotel is not 5-star shining luxury, but extremely well worth of money.
The hotel is well sited and is about 10 minutes walk from the station. It is fair to say that it is being renovated - on arrival at "reception door" it was locked and no obvious way into the real reception It has 7 stories and we were in a good room. The bed was huge and in many ways too big in that it took up floor space. French TV + shopping channels but no catering to UK etc. There was just one chair. The bathroom was spotless but in my view a very awkward design, The shower was lovely but sprayed over the floor. Check in was friendly but far too chatty with the previous guests. When you arrive [and we had checked in on line] you just want them to give the key and be off. The receptionist seemed to have too many people to talk to. The breakfast was a large buffet. Lovely coffee with a nespresso machine. On the first day when it did not seem particularly busy stuff ran out but was not replaced. The food was fair but - I suspect - much was bought in. Flavourless fruit salad, citrus fruit and so on. Certainly not home produced; out of a bag? Excellent bread. Lovely jam. Basic croissants and pastries. This is obviously an old building. The curtains - blackout, excellent - cover the whole wall while the windows are small
Pleasant enough hotel, with good food and comfortable room. I stayed here for one night on a business trip. The breakfast was available early which is a bonus if you have to be out at the crack of dawn. The bacon was to die for!
We stayed 4 nights at the Mercure. The staff is super friendly and even gets to know you. We got a renovated room with a view to the Bassin. The room is small but דאןךך spacious. The bathroom is really comfortable. Thank you for listening to our needs. Please note that the hotel is currently under renovation so it may get quite noisy during the day and you might get blocked when using the free parking of the hotel (3 places but very handy). This renovation is a must knowing that the Pasino is right next door and is really new and modern. Moreover, the Mercure has 4 stars until next year.
Rooms are basic but contains all the important items. breakfaat spread is good. its a good stay in terms of business trips and thats the purpose its made for. but being a commercial port area involving international visits...suggest to include few more english tv channels.
