This is a secluded location on a dead end gravel road across from the trailhead of Indian kitchen in the Shawnee national Forest. The house sits on 63 acres and has no visible neighbors. This is located in the heart of the Shawnee national Forest only 30 minutes from garden of the gods also 30 minutes from ferncliff. The Indian kitchen trailhead gives you access to 32,000 acres of trails that can be used on horseback or foot hiking.
The cabin is air-conditioned and features a kitchen and 2 bathrooms, and there's space to spread out with 4 bedrooms. Other standard amenities include a washing machine, a fireplace, and a sofa bed.

Turkey hunting trip

The cabin, location and owner were great during our Turkey hunting trip. We had plenty of room for ten guys. Owner was great and responded immediately when we reached out. Found out the owner also owns Shotgun Eddie’s, which had excellent food and cold drinks. We will be returning and would highly recomend.

Fantastic

We had an amazing stay in the cabin. It is so nicely updated. Plenty of beds for our family. Has all the basics you could need for cooking. Used the fire pit out back. Stars were incredible! Beautiful property. We were there to visit the Shawnee National Forest and the location was great for us to hit all the popular spots. Would definitely stay again

Beautiful property tucked off main road. Enjoyed fishing in pond, starlit nights, and warm fire. Close to the hiking trails we wanted to do. Had some ladybug friends join us but owner was on top of it. Would highly recommend

We had a great time! The cabin was clean and owner very responsive. The hiking in the area was amazing, especially Garden of the Gods. The only feedback I’d give is that the cabin is two bedrooms with two additional sleeping areas within the main living and dining areas. This layout worked well for two families with small children.

Visiting son at SIC

The cabin was very secluded and quiet! I guess the whole county had no internet service, so the first night we had no tv and we couldn’t get anything with our phones. Luckily it came back on Sunday mid morning, but we had to go to Carbondale to watch my son play baseball for SIC. We came back watch some tv and went to bed. The place was very cozy!

Great little getaway!

We had a fabulous time staying at Wonderlust! The only complaint is that the listing states there are 4 bedrooms and that simply isn’t true. One of the “bedrooms” is the dining room and an other is the living room. There are 2 real bedrooms, and the rest is shared space that doubles as sleeping quarters if need be. The dining room would have been nearly impossible to use as a sleeping quarter considering some of us stayed up late playing games every night. Thankfully we didn’t need the bed in that room so we could just use it as a dining room for the weekend. Otherwise everything was great!

Motorcycle Trip To Shawnee And Surrounding Area

We really enjoyed the stay and accommodations. This is a secluded property in the middle of the woods. Very clean and well maintained. Jared was responsive to every question I had. He also owns a local restaurant called Shotgun Eddy’s. Had both breakfast and dinner. Both were very good.

Great Secluded Cabin!

This place was awesome for our stay in the area. It's located centrally to a lot of the popular areas in Shawnee National Forest. The property backs right up to the park and there's a small creek with rock overhangs back there.

We stopped for a night on our way to a family reunion. We were not expecting to have such an amazing stay. The property is clean, updated and it's private and so scenic. The owner was beyond accommodating and kind. We did a fire, roasted s'mores, swung on the porch swing and truly enjoyed the beauty of the outside. We didn't want to leave. Recommend!

R&R in the Shawnee National Forest

Appeared to be newly remodeled log cabin nice features and tastefully decorated in serene quiet setting. Loved the wraparound deck for views, deer watching, butterflies in beautiful tree, natures night music and the ramp making it accessible for my friend in a wheelchair. We loved eating out on the deck. There’s lovely fire pit too. It was great location for day trips to various area of Shawnee Forest - each beautiful and unique - more to see than time! Owner Jared helpful and accommodating to my inquiries re accessibility. And we did enjoy eating at his restaurant Shotgun Eddys. Only thing is if you are spending time indoors no great space indoor for group meals or games. Otherwise Highly recommend unless indoor gathering space a priority.

Beautiful property for nature lovers!

This property is wonderful! The cabin is well-kept and comfortable and in a fabulous location for viewing wildlife, hiking, and quiet relaxation. Without even leaving the house we were able to view deer, hummingbirds, bats, butterflies, turkey, and so much more, plus the surrounding hiking trails are spectacular. The host was very responsive to a need that arose while we were there and was quick to remedy our situation. We plan on returning soon!

The Palace in the Forest

Cabin was top-notch and modern with central air conditioning, gas grill (propane provided), washer/dryer, etc. Very,very clean. It has all the amenities provided. Only have to bring food and drinks. Everything else is provided. Owner was SUPERB with fast communication. Area is extremely secluded and pristine. Wonderful backyard deck with fire pit (fire wood provided as well). EXTREMELY wonderful!!!

If you’re headed to Shawnee to hike, this is a central location to several of the local area highlights. Nights were delightfully dark and noisy, joined by all kinds of wildlife in the area and no other people. It was the perfect quick getaway for a family of six.

Clean and well-stocked. Having many beds makes it economical for larger groups, while spacious grounds offer a variety of hang out spots. The living room is cozy but small, and larger groups will have difficulty comfortably watching movies.

Wonderful cabin

We had amazing 2 days at this cabin, which is located in a very secluded and scenic place on the edge of the Lusk Creek canyon hiking area. Cabin has everything you could wish for, is very clear and beautifully decorated.
