The best thing about this hotel is it's location, on the river. Very clean but simple. It has a dining room and the food is adequate. I would not stay there again. The people were friendly and nice but did not go the extra step.
Centrally located hotel. Enjoyed taking a walk after dinner. Breakfast and dinner superb and definitely highlight of our stay. If you can afford to, stay in the main building. Being in a standard room with a view of the car park wasn't anything special. Would consider staying again or at least eating in the restaurant.
I had one night where I could not find other accommodations, so I chose this hotel (not completely randomly) to stay at for a night. It is more than I wanted to spend (even with Thursday rates) but since it was only one night, I didn't think it was a big deal. I phoned ahead a day before to ask them if I could leave my bags with them since I was already in town but check-in is not until 15:00. The staff was nice about allowing me to do that, and when I finally did check-in they upgraded me to another room with two beds on the top floor overlooking the river. My bathroom lacked a proper shower. The tub is nice, but due to the canted angles of the roof, I was more or less forced to take a bath. I know, it's a European thing, not an American thing but I didn't care for it. The bathroom, though it does have a heater, was very cold because the vent fan leads directly to the outside (could see light peeking in and hear people outside) Breakfast was included in my rate; the salmon scrambled eggs were absolutely to die for. This is in the restaurant just down off to the side in the lobby. Years ago, under a different name and head chef, this is one of the many places Gordon Ramsay shot an episode of "Kitchen Nightmares" ..now you know.
The Glenmoriston has always been our favourite choice and we have stayed here numerous times. We always book a lovely room with a delightful river view. We look forward to it. I rang the hotel directly, 4 months before our booking, to request one of our favourite rooms, Room 30 or Room31. Executive doubles. These rooms are high up, sunny, with gorgeous river views. The receptionist duly booked us in to Room 30. On arrival, we were so dismayed to find we had been allocated Room 18. (Apparently an executive double) This is the complete opposite of our requested room. It is on the ground floor, at the back of the hotel, on a level with the car park. People outside can see into the room. It is dark and miserable. We tried to change rooms, but all had been allocated. We were moved to a river view room on the 2nd night. We were charged the same price (as agreed on booking) for both rooms, which just don't compare! What gripes, is that we booked months in advance, for a particular room, which did not materialise. I am sure many of the other guests in river view rooms had booked later than us. Then to be charged the same price for such a miserable room, adds insult to injury. We have tried on more than one occasion to politely bring this matter to the attention of the manager, through the receptionists, but to no avail..... Nobody really cares... (I would rather voice my concerns to the manager privately, than on trip advisor.) We are back in Inverness in October, February and May, but sadly we will no longer stay at Glenmoriston Townhouse. We feel so let down and disappointed.
This hotel is described as high class and romantic. We certainly hoped so, having paid more than £220 for the room, for one night only. The actual room we received was a different story. Lit only by extremely cold led lights and with a "lovely" view on the parking, the atmosphere was more morbid than romantic. The similarly lit bathroom, with its clogged sink, was not any more inviting. The bed was broken which made us sleep with our feet much higher than our heads. Additionally, our room was situated in an unattended side building whose front door's lock was not working. When we mentioned those problems during check-out, the only answer we got was "we can't please everyone". The only redeeming quality of Glenmoriston Town House is its restaurant which, while not cheap, serves good food. By far, this was both the most expensive and worst hotel we experienced during our trip in Scotland
Glenmoriston is priced too high for what you get. Had to wait 30 minutes for the restaurant because they took in a tour bus for dinner (not guests). Prices in the bar are out of line for the area, and the room was so small we had to move a chair to get out the door. The room also had several maintenance items that needed tending. The staff is most pleasant, and the breakfast good, but we will go somewhere else next time.
We were in the annexe of the hotel. The room was spotless, unfortunately there was no mattress or pillow protectors on the bed. There were a few niggles in the room that based on the price I would not of expected. These were left on a comment card. We didn't have breakfast as room only basis. We were told at reception if we booked breakfast it would be one prove if we just turned up in the morning it would be another. For the price of the room breakfast should automatically be included. The hotel was a 5 minute walk into town. I would recommend the hotel
This was the final hotel for our trip on the North Coast 500, and was a great way to spend the last night. The hotel is beautifully maintained and presented. Professionally done, with efficient engaging staff and great facilities. The view over the river were lovely. Without a doubt, this was one of the best sleeps of our trip. We had a spacious and comfortable room with a bed that you just didn't want to get out of. The room was big enough to have a putting green in it (not joking here either !). The ensuite was large and roomy and was well laid out. We started the evening in the cocktail bar (great way to start), and were then offered a private dining room for our party. Food was excellent (although some felt the portion sizes were a little small). Breakfast we cooked to order and was of the highest quality. We found the staff to be engaging and positive. There were a couple of gremlins in the visit, however these were quickly and efficiently dealt with by the team and did not affect out enjoyment.
Service was great. Rooms are new our bedroom a little small but had great appointments. Bathroom was huge and also well appointed. Breakfast was excellent, bar gets very busy at night so get there early. Hotel us close to foe town about a 7 min walk but even better it is on the river walk. Only issue was because we were over bar it was fairly noisy until bar closed.
The price/performance is questionable. My room was tiny, I travelled off season and still the price was 120UKP for a night excluding breakfast. The location is nice though. Pictures show an impression from the (roadside) terrace.
