Very comfortable rooms. Dog friendly with nice little grass garden behind. Friendly, helpful and attentive staff and a delicious breakfast. Will definitely return to try their dinner menu, which looks wonderful.
Stayed in a very comfortable room behind the restaurant. It was a little drafty but that was why there was an extra heater. The evening meal was of a very high standard and the wine to match too. The cost was not cheap but the good food and good service comes at a price. Would dine again.
Checked in a couple of weeks ago with some work colleagues for a private function. We had a first class meal - fine dining at reasonable prices. Some nice touches like Home made bread and great attentive service made the night. A few of us stayed over and the rooms adjacent were very comfortable. One of the best hotel beds Ive stayed in ! Again great breakfast in the morning all super quality and great value. Deserves to be patronised !
We booked direct with the Horseshoe Restaurant. Our bedroom was in the courtyard building. Lovely high end décor and light and airy. The beds were amazing as the most comfortable you can imagine with wonderful bed linen, gorgeous duvet and pillows. Quiet and slept so well! Room spotless with turn down service while we ate diner. Diner was total delight! Delicious pre diner plate of appetisers followed by super scallops with black pudding and peas as our starters. Tasty lamb main course left no room for desserts. Beautifully served and presented with a notable fine dining French influence. Lovely breakfast to finish a delightful overnight.
Brilliant! Just what we needed... fabulous food and wine. The service was friendly and very informative. We had the 6 course taster meal and flight of wines. A little haven that everyone should try if they go to Scotland.
Well was a last minute booking so we could get into Edinburgh first thing tomorrow, wasn't expecting much. But we found ourselves eating exquisite food and fantastic bottle of wine. Classed as restaurant with rooms, rooms are in an old school house, bed are super soft duck down, once you get in there it takes some willpower to get out again. More than happy 💏
Is a small beautifull restaurant with very good service to have a dinner while you are in this area.the owner and the stag are very friendly and they know exactly what they are doing the rooms are cozy witthout special view.
We stayed for just one night having booked randomly through booking.com, we simply needed something in the area. However now that we've stayed and I've done my research on the menu, I wish we'd had longer so will have to go back. Our room was pretty small but clean, bright and beautifully presented. Well equipped despite being very compact, it had all that we needed. We had to leave before breakfast but a lovely continental breakfast was left for us - beautiful home cooked bread, a selection of berries (slightly ripe) and home baked breakfast muffins (would have liked a conserve and perhaps a yogurt to have with the lovely granola, and felt it was a bit pricey at £30 for a small continental breakfast for two). We could hear the chap snoring next door so a bit more sound proofing might be an idea going forward but then again he may have been particularly loud! We got a very warm welcome despite the unfortunate very late arrival and it is easy to find and park right by your room. It had a lovely ambience and I don't doubt that the food will be excellent, what we sampled was lovely.
My husband and I booked in here for two nights. The first night we had bed and breakfast, it cost £99. On the second night we had dinner bed and breakfast. That was £220. We had the taster menu. We could not find any faults with the food at all. It was all so nice. We were not rushed, having time to chat and relax between each plate of food. What was nice was once you were seated in the restaurant, the table was yours. The breakfast was as nice as the evening meal food. Hot fresh tasty, good quality food. The only problem we found, was they only sold one beer. And as my husband is a beer drinker and would have liked a choice of at least two or three different kinds of beer. Also they had a great selection of wine. But the cheapest bottle they had was £30. Makes it an expensive evening. But it did not spoil our stay. The rooms are small but bright and clean. With a nice bathroom and comfortable bed. It was quite and peaceful. A lovely place to relax. Would we go back. Yes we would. But maybe next time we would only stay the one night. And we would do the tasting menu again. I would definitely recommend the horseshoe inn restaurant with rooms. The icing on the cake are the lovely staff. So warm and friendly. They work so hard to make your stay a good one. Also you don't have to stay at the inn to eat there. So if your in the area and want a great meal. Give it a try. I'm sure you won't be disappointed.
It has been a while so we thought we would revisit, started with a half bottle of champagne served with lovely canapes, treated ourselves to the ten course tasting menu with wines. Interesting enough, chef showing off his various skills and techniques, some lovely dishes others nice but not to our taste. Wines again off our normal taste spectrum. Next time we will revert to the al-la-carte and really enjoy whatever we select from the menu. Really enjoyed the breakfast, and thanks to Horseshoe for the complimentary room upgrade. It will not be so long before our next return. Service as always impeccable by all who attended on us.
