The hotel urgently needs renovation - the furniture is ancient, the carpets are dirty, the beds are small. WiFi is not available at all times, and when available is extremely slow. My biggest struggle was the amount of bugs and huge spiders I had in my room every day. When I asked to be moved to another room the answer was "It is complicated". I understand that the hotel is on the river bank, but the hotel management must do some pest control treatment to make sure the guest are comfortable opening their windows. Overall it was an awful experience and I would not come back.
The house/rooms/facilities definitely needs renovation. I definitely get a better place in Meissen or Dresden for less. Smelly rooms, old bathroom equipment, dirty carpet on the floor. Breakfast is good. Staff is friendly.
Rooms are quite large and work there is possible. Bathroom is also on the good level and nothing I can complain if checking cleanness. Something called 'river view' is not exactly what I have expected. This hotel's gable wall facing the river. From other rooms you can see the river, that's it. No terrace or balcony. Breakfast is very average and without touch of a good cook. Staff is partly friendly and partly very uninterested in guests. Parking next to the hotel is free from charge but not watched. On and on - no issues. It is also nothing special and outstanding.
Part of our first Elbe, East German exploration . We chose this hotel as it seemed off the beaten track yet adjacent to the East German equivalent ..sort of magnificent metal sculpture .."angel of the Elbe" but a massive oak tree hinting @ the towns metallergic past. ....it is twinned with Rotherham!! It is a std biz hotel with t and coffee facils in the room but if you get a deal online it is amazing value, coz it comes with free sauna , free swimming at the local olympic 50m swimming pool (2.5 hours pass) and free bike hire....we availed ourselves of last 2 and cycled to the cathedral city of Meissen. Staff were uber efficient ..allowed early check in, sorted bikes and were always very courteous and spoke English. By using the Cycleway it is easy to get from the train station to the hotel. There are also buses from the station.
This hotel is aimed at business travellers including those at the nearby convention centre. There were no such events during our visit, so the hotel was very quiet and the prices were low. The rooms are fine and the service is good. There's an adjacent restaurant which is not so good.
We (myself, DH and DD) recently stayed at the Mecure while my DD participated in the IDO Tap Championships this December. The room was spacious - we had a triple occupancy room which provided a french bed (a double with individual duveas) and an additional bedroom which was a couch that converted to a double bed. My DD loved having her own space in the hotel room to sleep. The rooms are dated compared to what we are used to in Canada but the spaced served its purpose. The bathroom was large and had a great shower and amenities. The staff were very helpful - their English was better than my German but was limited. The location was wonderful it was an easy walk to the downtown mall and there is a Netto (a smaller grocery with beer and wine) basically in the parking lot. Great to pick up bottles of water and snacks for our days at the Arena. There is a 24 hour lobby bar which we enjoyed each night - a glass of wine (or 2) to wind down after a long day of watching and being stressed out about dance! The staff did their best to keep up to the large group of Canadian's that would descend each night. The restaurants seemed to close earlier than we are used to - it was hard to find a meal late at night, which was a bit frustrating at times. Again - just what we are used to more so in Canada. The daily breakfast that was provided was fantastic - a wonderful start to our days!! I'm happy to answer any questions - feel free to send a DM!
Very comfortable, spacious rooms well presented and stocked. Breakfast was amazing with a huge amount of choice to suit everyone, the view from the breakfast room over the Elba just made breakfast a wonderful experience. Easy to find location, with a choice of eateries very close by for convenience. The hotel will also take a dog !
Location - close to motorway, easy access and less than 10 min on foot to the small pedestrian area of town. Free parking outside the hotel. Mine room was fine, a bit dated but clean and had everything including tee/ coffee facilites. Wifi worked well. Beware, some rooms are smoking rooms, be sure to specify no smoking if you don't like smoking. As usual at Accor hotels, breakast was quite poor in quality. Staff not particularly welcoming but I had no issue. Quick and easy check in/out. Two restaurants are in the same building, enough choice I guess for a couple of nights.
The Mercure Riesa is a basic accomodation with not the most modern rooms anymore but still not yet rundown. Convenient location with two restaurant attached and a 10 min stroll to oldtown ... what hasn't much to offer anyway. Rooms are airconditioned.
Hotel was clean, quite basic with sufficient parking. There is two good restaurants in connection of the hotel. The price level is a little bit too high compared with rather simple rooms - and not very comfortable beds.
