Pros: - Great location, central to transport, the sights, downtown and shopping - Room service, the food was very good, the service was great and the wait was no problem - The hotel has a pool - Most staff were very friendly and helpful. - Laundry service was pricey but worked well. Cons: - There was no help with the luggage. The curb is not lowered but there is a ramp for wheelchairs. The ramp though is blocked off with a chain. We had to drag our luggage cart up the curb (like literally lift it up the curb). - You feel gouged: a) the parking is very expensive, b) the pool costs Euro 5 per person per visit (not per day but per visit and person) and c) there doesn't seem to be any lenience as it relates to later checkout. I found most hotels are usually accommodating but this one is only interested to nickel and dime you. - The air conditioning is not the greatest. It does cool down the room but not enough. - The pillows were not great. - It generally seemed that there was not enough staff. - The pool was very dark as they used dark wood and it had very little natural light. It also has no steps to get in and it is the same depth everywhere. Not a good pool for people with handicaps or children. - The internet was terribly slow but that seems to be a general German problem. It would be a great hotel but some of these small things make a big difference. Stop charging me for everything. A pool is a standard feature for this class hotel and there was nothing else that we used that justified the charge.
The hotel has a clean, modern foyer and reception area. Our room was very clean and well appointed. This hotel has a convenient location and is close to public transportation. The breakfast is served in the restaurant on the mezzanine level. The staff in the breakfast room is pleasant and efficient. The food was of good quality, and there was a nice variety of items (full English breakfast).
I stayed for 3 nights in the Westin Leipzig as one of the officially invited attendee of the International Transport Forum. The hotel is centrally located in the Leipzig city and close to all important places. It's also close to public transport like tram, the central train station. It's very good if you want to go around in the city. Rooms are clean but not very luxury as I saw in far East hotels and I think thanks common in german hotels. Food was good and staff was helpful although we faced some difficulties with reception girls.
I had a very bad experience in my stay at this hotel, which was duly complained, but I wouldn't recommend it anyway. They have no respect for the client, the service is nonexistent and when you ask to speak to the manager he's not in, and then you ask for the duty manager, and he's not in either!!!!
Our experiences at the Westin can only be described as “mixed”. For example, the foyer and reception area is large, bright and well furnished - but it was frustrating that a raucous male group was in the process of checking in so we had to wait some time because there was only one member of staff on duty. We’d reserved a double room – but found that it had only been prepared for one person so we had to ask for additional bedding, towels etc. It transpired that they were available in various cupboards in the room - but it should not be our job as guests to have to search for them. Our deluxe room was well appointed with good city views – but minibars had been taken out when the rooms was recently re-furbished. There was a note explaining that this was all in the interests of efficiency and modernising – but requiring guests to obtain minibar-type supplies from what is essentially a vending display in the foyer is not acceptable in what claims to be a five-star hotel. The foyer (Shinto) bar is relatively small and lacks any sense of ambiance. Service there was good – but it shouldn’t be necessary to ask for a bowl of snacks. Breakfast is served in the first floor restaurant and provides good quality and variety – but it’s a shame that the cups for tea and coffee are a rather heavy chunky type one usually finds in cheap cafes. This hotel has some good qualities – but there are too many small omissions or failures which let down the overall experience.
I just could not imagine such a luxury and great design inside this hotel, for the price great value, very chic and nice interior design. Looks like they have renovated all the rooms with modern design, close to center just walk everywhere or take train or metro. Free breakfast with your SPG member
The hotel is very well located and is even visible from the central station. You can simply walk over there from the station in a few minutes. The hotel is great - lovely reception, ambience, facilities. Rooms were fine too. You can get wifi if you book the room directly from their website - otherwise you pay extra. Spa and pool facilities can be used by paying 5 eur extra per session. No minibar or tea/coffee making facilities were provided in the room. Breakfast is pricey-like the other Westin hotels though it is possible to order some breakfast items in advance. For meals, I preferred going to the centrals tation or nearby market area - the station is huge and has all sorts of restaurants/bakeries/stores etc.
The hotel is in a good condition with its modern architecture . Lobby area is huge . I was expecting better breakfast & more free space in the restaurant. Room is nice , but bit small, however to reach my floor is an adrenaline experience getting in the elevator :) There is M.I.C.E. business facilities at the hotel on a professional level...
The short walk from the train station was the main reason why we choose this hotel for just one night. As has been mentioned already by others: no coffee facilities or fridge in the room, although what we had was not a standard room on 23 th floor with a grand view into the zoo garden and the city centre. Since the hotel announced they had a pool, I was eager to have a swim in the afternoon. But be aware: you have to register in the reseption and get a special key card for the pool and spa. And do be aware: they charge you € 5 for using the spa facilities. Which changed my idea. I have been staying all over Germany in hotels with pool, and this was the first time ever there was an extra fee for clients. The interior in the reception and the breakfast room was rather dark and grim. Nothing wrong with the breakfast buffet, you just felt it was not meant you should enjoy for it too long.
This Hotel is nearby City Center for short buys. Try some restaurants there. Hotel does not provide room self making café or tea and no small refrigerator !!!!! If you get a room in high floor you may have a nice city view though. The Japanese restaurant was not as expected.
