We stayed 11 days at this location to celebrate our 30th anniversary with family. The home provided privacy, stunning views/wildlife, lots of spaces to connect, relax and recharge. The drive to the home is an adventure and something we started to look forward to each time we left for an excursion, shopping or meal out. We spent alot of time in Dominical, playa Domincalito and Uvita. I highly recommend the snorkeling at Cano Island and trip to Nauyaca Waterfalls. One restaurant we loved was La Parcela - recommended by the host. Eithne and Amanda were very responsive to our questions and requests. We left knowing our group would try to figure out a way to get back to this home.

Stunning Property!

This house has it all: an incredible view of the Pacific, privacy, beautiful and comfortable furnishings, and amenities. The outdoor space is breathtaking. The first day we stayed, we saw a monkey in the trees and toucans on the branches. We also spotted a hungry iguana and a mama deer and her baby. The house was incredibly clean, and the beach items were so helpful! (Beach bag, boogie boards, etc.) Also, they have binoculars which we used daily to watch for wildlife! There were games we played as a family, and there were even books provided to read.Management was incredibly quick to respond to my questions (no hot water due to a breaker tripped, but thanks to quick communication, it was easily resolved.)The minutes-long drive up and down to the main road was absolutely worth these stunning views! Highly recommend!

Uphill to Paradise!

The house and property are amazing! Toucans and Parrots by the deck. We had a great time and the view is amazing. The owners and Amanda were responsive to every question and gave us advice on where to go and what to not miss. Matapalo is quieter and laid back and the traffic is much better. It’s central to Quepos and Dominical. Very convenient! So nice to have the boogie boards, soccer ball and ice chest for the beaches. Do Not forget your 4wd, it’s essential! 1st trip is a little overwhelming but after that it’s a breeze!

Adventurous for sure

This is a beautiful property. The owner is fantastic, friendly and very responsive. We loved her recommendations of places to go and was overall so helpful.We had a lot of issues with no hot water or no water at all. The power would go out daily (sometimes for 15 mins and other times 12 hours). The owner was always sending help right away. We loved the view and the peace and quiet. The explanation of the property explains that the Hill to the property is very steep and this is very true. I’m very glad that I had my husband driving me because I was very nervous about it.The property was very centrally located to all of the things that we wanted to do. We did an Atv tour through the rainforest. Dominical (15 min drive) was really fun to visit and eat, grab a coffee and we visited the BM market daily. The owner also recommended La Parcela a restaurant nearby. That was absolutely fantastic with incredible views.

Vacation from Hell

Though the property was pretty, the location of the house was highly inconvenient and difficult. The property was smaller than advertised. It’s located a little less than 4 hours from San Jose and it’s at least a 10 minute drive from the major roadway to the property. There were insects all over the kitchen sink and under the counter.

This is the perfect house.

My daughter nailed it when she said “mama, this house has everything!”. It really does. The kitchen is very well appointed, the beach toys and supplies are such a nice touch, the house is clean, the rooms are comfortable, the outdoor seating is lovely, and that pool … the house is flawless. We truly didn’t want for anything. And having access to a washer and dryer allowed us to travel lighter. Thanks for sharing such a beautiful home with us!! Note: you do need a 4x4 vehicle to access this house.

Peace and Tranquility

We greatly enjoyed this property. The natural environment is gorgeous. I would recommend for anyone seeking a quiet place to relax and enjoy the surroundings. We heard the howler monkeys, visited by white face capuchins, entertained by a friendly coati and spent time identifying many different birds. I was nervous about the driveway from the reviews. Don’t let that hinder you. It is totally doable! The fresh fruit was a welcome touch.

We had a fabulous stay at Ethna and Tim's place. I can't say enough about how beautiful their place is with it's gorgeous ocean views and an array of visitors that included a band of coati, toucans, hawks, and monkeys on our last morning there!

Best Vacation Ever

My wife and I stayed here with our 3 children, ages 7,9 and 12. We had the most amazing time. The view of the jungle and the ocean were beautiful. Our kids loved swimming in the pool. We loved all the wildlife, we saw Toucans and many other birds. There was a Coati that came by a few times that our kids named Buddy. We even had a family of 5 monkeys playing in the trees on our second night. The house was very clean and everything was there for us to easily make our own meals when we wanted. The outdoor grill was also very easy to use and very clean. There are also many great food and attractions very close to the house. We spent a good amount of time in Dominical which is just 10 mins away. They had lots of great restaurants and shops for souvenirs. The beach at Playa Linda was wonderful and not busy at all. Our kids loved playing in the ocean and using the boogie boards that were provided by our host. This was our first trip to Costa Rica, we are hoping to plan another trip and stay at the same house. This has definitely been our favorite vacation to date!

Stunning Jungle Oasis

The property is exactly as advertised, stunning. Great location - situated between Quepos and Dominical. Our Host was wonderful and added so much to our experience. The reviews that mention the driveway are spot on, but all it takes is one or two successful trips and it is a snap after that.

Jungle top paradise

The house is just beautiful from its spacious indoor/outdoor layout to its beautifully appointed decor. Every room has a breathtaking view including one of the bathrooms. Our family loved sitting on the top deck early in the morning and at dusk looking for the toucans, the white-faced coatis and the agotis that would come into the garden. My teens would hang out on the lower deck and said they felt like they were in a Tarzan movie with all the lush trees and jungle sounds. The house even had an outside bathroom with a large glassed-in shower that was used every single day. Portions of the drive to the house and especially the last 100 feet to get to the house were not for the faint of heart especially the first time, but we got more comfortable as the week went by. We would return to this house in a heartbeat. Management was easy to work with, had a lot of great tips and were quick to respond. The bugs only came out late and night and a little Off spray did the trick. Unlike our previous rental home in Uvita, we loved that the entire house was air conditioned. With floor to ceiling windows, we had the best of both worlds as needed. Make sure to eat at the Feliz Langusta which is located at the foot of the hill. The seafood platter was amazing.

Beautiful house and location, but property management needs improvement

I'll start by saying that the house is in a beautiful location on a hill with wonderful views of the forest and the ocean. The outdoor space with the deck and the pool is incredible and very peaceful. All the rooms have glass doors so you feel very integrated with the outdoors .It's also close to some secluded wonderful beaches. The drive up can be a bit scary on the dirt road especially in the dark so keep that in mind. The reason for 3 stars is a property management issue we faced - when we arrived we were told by the manager that the dryer had stopped working and would either be replaced by the next day or our laundry would be taken care of same day. Having a washer dryer was important to us as we had been traveling for a week and we had packed light , knowing we could do our laundry at the house. The next 2 days were spent in numerous messages to the property managers assistant trying to coordinate the laundry pickup and drop off. Communication was poor and not proactive. Long story short , our laundry was not done for the day, the dryer was not replaced , we had to change our plans & I spent hours trying to coordinate all this while I should have been enjoying my vacation. I did communicate to the owner about the issue and they were apologetic. Anyway, laundry was done after multiple delays but this could have been handled so much better. I hope they are able to provide better customer service in the future. If they fix that. I would recommend folks to stay here.!

The view

This house seemed all about the view. The beds were comfy and the kitchen was great. The outdoor space is the best as the acoustics in the house seemed like we were yelling to hear each other, especially when raining. I was not a fan of the muddy road going up nor the steep driveway but again it was all about the view once you were there.

Beautiful and private space to enjoy the pacific coast

We had the pleasure of staying at this amazing property for four days. The house and grounds match the photos exactly and if anything the pictures don’t fully capture how stunning it is. We were a little unlucky with some rainy weather but having this place to stay/return to every day was a joy. As others mentioned the drive up to the property is a bit of a stressful experience initially, but after the first few times we got the hang of it and it became another memory/part of the adventure. Finally the communication and support from the owner and property manager(s) was top notch. Highly recommend this property for anyone looking to enjoy the pacific coast of Costa Rica.

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING HOME. Best home in Costa Rica! The view, the villa, the pool was perfect! Little scary to drive at first but once you get the hang of it it’s fun! Must have 4x4! Every morning was like waking up to sounds of the jungle and enjoying the view! I wish I could have stayed for another week. Our house managers were super helpful and the owners are Amazing! Sent me recommendations and helped me with my itinerary. My 30th birthday was extra special because of this house. Thank you again! Can’t wait to come back! PURA VIDA!

Beautiful home overlooking Pacific

We loved our time here! Our family of 5 enjoyed surfing in Dominical and exploring Manuel Antonio Park. The house is perfect for getting out during the day and cooking in at night. The view is spectacular and we enjoyed waking to birds and wildlife every morning. The driveway is steep so be prepared and definitely have a 4 wheel drive vehicle. Ethna was extremely responsive and easy to communicate with anytime needed. We were grateful to have Amanda meet us upon arrival to follow up the driveway and show us the house. We loved our time here and hope to be back very soon!

wunderschönes Haus in einzigartiger Umgebung

Wir, eine Familie mit 4 erwachsenen Kindern und Schwiegerkindern haben den Aufenthalt in der Villa von Anfang bis Ende sehr genossen. Die Lage und der Ausblick sind atemberaubend und das Haus bietet alles, was man für einen entspannten Urlaub benötigt. Täglich kamen uns Tukane, Papageien, Greifvögel und Nasenbären besuchen - einmal sogar eine ganze Bande von Kapuzineräffchen und ein junger Weißwedelhirsch. Der wunderschöne weitläufige Matapalo-Strand, wo wir uns gerne Surfbretter ausgeliehen hatten, ist mit dem Auto nur 5 Minuten vom Haus entfernt. Dort findet man auch Einkaufsmöglichkeiten für den täglichen Bedarf. Ein kleines Problem gab es dann aber doch mit dem Gästeservice: Als wir beim Haus ankamen funktionierte die Overflowfunktion des Pools nicht. Wir haben dies freitagsmorgens an die Hausverwaltung weitergeleitet, die das Problem aber wohl schon kannte. Trotzdem dauerte es bis Dienstag und brauchte einen weiteren Anruf unsererseits bis das Problem behoben wurde. Alles in allem tat dies einem wundervollen Aufenthalt in dieser wunderschönen und modernen Villa keinen Abbruch.

Toller Rückzugsort mit wunderbarem Blick!
