I stayed for one night, business visit next day in Le Mans, I have stayed many times in the past, they have improved the restaurant and bar area , it is really bright and modern, breakfast buffet was really good with hot and cold food, the rooms are a very high standard and air conditioned. service is very good, friendly and helpful, over all a great hotel only 5 minutes walk from the main Le Mans centre.
Liked Location is within walking distance of the old town - very interesting old buildings and the cathedral is amazing inside. Friendly and very obliging staff. In common with many hotels we have visited it is clear there are one or 2 key staff who really keep the place running and provide great leadership to the rest. We stayed in the privilege room on the 2nd floor - spacious with a window over the street. It was quite comfortable - bed good and bathroom ok Delighted to have tea and coffee making facilitings in the room Gripes Very cheap and nasty paper cups for tea / coffee in the room - staff gave us proper cups for our stay The room wasn't quiet either from the road noise or the hotel operation - we were woken up by the reception phone ringing frequently around 6:30am - the old fashioned doors of our room opened onto the staircase where reception was 1 floor below. This also was a problem when at around midnight on our second night some furniture moving went on for 1/2 hour and sounded for all the world like an a train was coming through our room! This disturbance compounded the amount of light coming into the room as the curtains enivitably stand off the wall at the top of the window and there is a lot of light from the outside of the building. Carpark is pretty tight getting down the ramp ok otherwise but does have a dank smell Finally we quickly learned you need to be there for the earlier breakfast sitting as arriving at 9:30 as we did on the first day, your choices are somewhat limited and even crockery and cutlery was in short supply. This was better on the second day but we were there much earlier. Finally, Finally I'm often disappointed at design details of hotel rooms - often its not a matter of spending money - just being more thoughtful at the time of construction or renovation. Such thinking could greatly enhance the customer experience. This room wasn't the worst but certainly not the best from this perspective.
Very nice hotel! The hotel is at walking distance of town centre and old town. Good and secure car parking possibility. Very friendly staf. Nice and clean building and rooms. Buffet breakfast is excellent.
The hotel is located in the center of town, close to the cathedral and the old town with cobbled streets. Personalized and very courteous welcome. We leave with good memories. Car Park underground and perfection breakfast.
Typical Mercure hotel. Rooms are quirky but this one (see other post) was not like a premier inn. Same price as hotel in Rennes but bigger room, bigger bed, better bathroom but no mini bar (not that we use them). Staff were helpful. Breakfast was fine with plenty of choice. Underground parking available.
Very poor customer service. Room was exceedingly hot, over 30c- on asking about the air-con was told it was not yet switched on, Web-site says all rooms air-conditioned, not just some of the year! Reception told us all the other rooms would be the same, there was nothing she could do, suggested we opened the window. We did this but had to go out as it was unbearable in the room, we had been driving all day and had planned to rest before visiting the city. On check-out we mentioned again how hot the room was and she said we should have called down again - why? She had told us there was nothing she could do. We asked her to pass on our comments the manager, he has our email address but has not bothered to contact us. Mercure hotels offer free breakfast to over 60 year olds, she had looked at our passports so knew we were but when checking that it would be free her answer was no. On telling her that Mercure offered this she begrudgingly said OK. This is a Mercure standard, customers should not have to ask, and certainly should not have to tell staff about it. The bathroom is certainly not 4*, the towels are very thin, and we have never seen a soap dispenser other than in a 2* hotel, no other toiletries at all. Only paper and plastic cups/glasses - again not even remotely 4*. Rather than the trite replies the manager puts on reviews maybe they should fix the problems!
Stopped for 1 night en route to the South of France. Hotel is tucked away a short walk from the Old Town in a very handsome building. We parked our car in a very tight and small underground parking lot. Check-in was quick and easy. Priviledge room booked was pleasant but the safe was locked and not bolted down. After an hour or so without a fix, the Hotel moved us to a Suite (thank you Antoine!). Huge comfortable room with seperate shower and bath. Couldn't get the A/C to work properly and slept with windows open which proved to be a mistake as the local hot-rod kids used the outside drag for racing into the early hours! WiFi although free, is a little spotty. Breakfast was nice with a reasonable choice. Would consider staying again if we were in the area.
The hotel has a rather grand main entrance and reception area. Our room was quite small but well appointed and quiet with an average size good quality batnroom. It was all well presented, clean with a very comfortable bed and a good shower. Located about 10 minutes walk to the cathedral and very beautiful Old Town - well worth visiting and offers a good selection of restaurants and bars. There is often a very good evening light show set against the cathedral but dates and times seem to vary depending on the season so best check your dates. The hotel staff were very pleasant and welcoming, offering local advice and directions. We will stay again when in town. The hotel has a secure underrground car park (extra charge) - be careful if your car has low ground clearance, particularly between the road and roller door entry/exit point!
Although ideally situated close to the town centre with ample secure parking and a grand entrance.. wasn't too impressed by room we were given for the price we paid. To top it all room service was diabolical.. ordered a cheese platter, a bowl of fruit and a glass of wine ..waited an hour and a half only to be told that he was the only one on duty and was also checking in customers.. unacceptable ...sort your hotel out Mecure.
great hotel, well located, staff friendly, rooms are big and clean, and the internet is fast and free the only minor downside is that my king bed was actually 2 small bed put together, but beside that, i had a very nice stay
