Casa Luna is a private two-bedroom villa tucked into the hills above Playa Hermosa, with beautiful views across the Gulf of Papagayo and the surrounding tropical landscape.

What makes this home special isn't just the view. It's the feeling of being surrounded by Costa Rica while still having all the comforts of a thoughtfully designed home. Mornings start with birds in the trees, you may hear howler monkeys nearby, and evenings are best spent outside watching the light change over the ocean.

The villa sleeps up to four guests and is designed for couples, friends, or a small family looking for privacy, comfort, and a quieter side of Guanacaste.

The Villa

Casa Luna has two private bedroom suites on separate levels.

The upper suite features a king bed, en-suite bathroom, and private balcony overlooking the ocean and treetops.

Downstairs, the second bedroom can be arranged with either one king bed or two singles. It also has its own en-suite bathroom and opens directly toward the pool and gardens.

Between the two is a comfortable TV room with a large sectional, 85" Smart TV, Sonos sound system, and expansive windows framing the Gulf of Papagayo and the distinctive Monkey Head rock formation.

The two-story kitchen is one of our favorite spaces in the house. It's open, bright, and designed for actually spending time together, with a separate coffee station and wine bar and plenty of room for slow breakfasts or dinners at home.

Pool, Gardens & Outdoor Living

Outside is where Casa Luna really comes alive.

The heated infinity pool overlooks the surrounding greenery and ocean beyond, with Jacuzzi jets and a cascading waterfall for relaxing after a day at the beach.

A large tree naturally shades the BBQ and outdoor dining area, making it a wonderful place for lunch, dinner, or simply sitting outside with a drink.

You'll also find tropical gardens, a quiet shaded reading nook, and our Sunset Terrace with comfortable nest chairs positioned to enjoy the breeze and views.

For beach days, we provide beach chairs, towels, an umbrella, and a cooler, as well as floats for the pool.

Your Own Private Gym

If you like to stay active while traveling, Casa Luna has an unusually well-equipped, air-conditioned private gym.

You'll have access to a Peloton Bike and Tread, weights, a workout bench, yoga equipment, and a speed bag—so you don't have to give up your routine while you're here.

A Little Extra Care

We want staying at Casa Luna to feel easy.

Daily housekeeping is included, and our local concierge is available to help with restaurant reservations, transportation, activities, private chefs, in-villa services, or simply recommendations on where to spend the day.

Breakfast service can also be arranged at the villa; guests simply cover the cost of the groceries.

The home is solar-powered and has a whole-house water purification system, so clean, filtered water is available throughout the property.

Close to Everything, Without Feeling Like It

Casa Luna feels private and surrounded by nature, yet Playa Hermosa is only about five minutes away.

The calm waters of Hermosa are perfect for swimming, paddleboarding, or simply spending an afternoon on the beach, and several excellent restaurants are just a short drive from the villa.

Playas del Coco is nearby when you want more restaurants, shopping, nightlife, or groceries, and Liberia International Airport (LIR) is approximately 25 minutes away.

From here, we can also help arrange sailing, snorkeling, sportfishing, surfing, ATV adventures, zip-lining, hiking, wildlife tours, thermal springs, golf, tennis, pickleball, padel, coffee and chocolate tours, and plenty more.

Or you can do absolutely nothing—which, at Casa Luna, is a pretty good option too.

A Few Things to Know Before Booking

Stairs & Accessibility
Casa Luna is built into the hillside and is accessed by a series of stairs from the parking area. The setting is part of what gives the villa its beautiful views and privacy, but it also means the property is not recommended for guests with mobility challenges.

Driving
A 4x4 vehicle is recommended for comfortable access to the property. Airport transfers are not included, but our concierge can arrange private transportation or help coordinate a rental vehicle.

Parking
The parking area is shared with our sister property, Casa Sol.

Children
Because of the open pool, terraces, and stairs throughout the property, Casa Luna may not be suitable for children under 10.

Nature & Wildlife
You're staying in tropical Costa Rica, and that's part of the experience. Monkeys can often be heard in the surrounding trees, along with tropical birds, and you may occasionally spot coatis and other local wildlife around the property.

Gated Community
Casa Luna is located within a private gated community, and safes are provided inside the villa for valuables.

Peace & Privacy
This is a quiet residential setting surrounded by nature. Parties and events are not permitted without prior approval, and we ask guests to be considerate of the peaceful surroundings, particularly at night.

Need More Space?

Casa Luna can also be combined with our neighboring sister villa, Casa Sol, making the two properties a great option for larger families or groups traveling together while still allowing everyone their own space and privacy.
