I emailed twice to book secure garage parking and did not get a response. Arrived and told there was none available. We were lucky to get parked 5 mins outside on the street which was not guaranteed secure. Birds roosted in the trees above our car and it was a total mess the next day. Staff not friendly. There were no street plans or information on Chalon. Very basic place. Walls need painting and carpets stained. Bathroom plug did not work. Room was tiny. I do not recommend staying here because for the same priced we had a fabulous B&B on the down to the South. No wifi in the room it is in reception and you need to ask for a code downstairs because they do not tell you.
It is located near the station and it provides value for money. Do not expect 24/7 help desk as one has to manage after office hours without any front office. The room is good. Kitchen is adequate. The rest rooms are big. There is a working desk and a sitting area. As you get down you have restaurents, banks and railway station.
A major reason to consider this appart'hotel is the secure underground car park. For me, it was the only reason. There was otherwise no way I would have booked an apartment in a slightly edgy neighbourhood near the station. Driving back to the UK from Italy, I had plenty of wine and olive oil in the car and other lovely things that I wanted to be sure would be safe. I booked and paid for the apartment - and most importantly, the parking - nearly four months before travelling. But when I booked in, the receptionist denied knowledge of my car park reservation... and said it was full, anyway. Disaster! Catastrophe! How many journeys did I have to make back and forth to empty my car? I lost count, but I will never forget the hatred I now feel for the Appart'City group. If you are the kind of old fashioned person who values old fashioned things like getting what you pay for, and place value on people and organisations who deliver on their commitments, then AVOID this place like the plague. Oh... and if you like your walls not to bear the bloody remains of squashed mosquitoes, or for bathroom fittings to be present (eg. a toilet-roll holder, or a bracket for the shower head), or even for there to be adequate cooking equipment, crockery and cutlery for three people (in a three-person apartment), then AVOID this place like the plague. There are plenty of places to stay at which are cheap and clean and well-maintained. This ain't one of them.
My family of 5 had 2 rooms booked at this hotel on the way down to our snowboarding holiday this half term. Both rooms were supposed to have 3 single beds. Unfortunately the rooms we were given both had double beds, so we went back down to reception. As it was a very busy Friday night they didn't have any spare rooms but managed to upgrade us to King size beds. They said the hotel didn't have any rooms with 3 single beds, so I don't know why they said they did on Expedia! Although they had king size beds they obviously couldn't afford sheets to fit over them. By the morning our sheet was barely on the bed - not helped by the fact that my 9 year old son had to sleep in our bed with us! Not the most restful night's sleep. The kitchens are small and basic, but fine for a snack dinner/breakfast. We managed to park in the street right outside without any problem and there was a large supermarket about a 5 minute drive away. There was a bit of a lingering smell of smoke. It was OK, but I don't think we'll be visiting again.
The staff were very rude and unhelpful, the room was dirty and smelt of smoke. No WiFi in rooms in 2015 this is really lame. kitchen sink and hob were grimy, thick dust on skirting boards and mildew on the ceiling. Shower was broken. I can't express enough how disappointed we were by the hotel and the rude receptionist. Stay at the ibis instead, much better. also building work going on from 6:30am they were drilling. AVOID
We stayed over for 3 nights here as a base for exploring the area by car. The room itself was fine as was the small but functional kitchen. The bathroom was reasonable. There was no airconditioning and so one had to open the window as it was hot. The apartment itself smelt badly of tobacco smoke and there were no other rooms available but the receptionist gave us an air freshener to help. Opening the window was a problem as the room overlooked the square outside the station and it was noisy throughout the whole night. This is a big problem as far as we were concerned. However with the warm temperatures one had little choice but to open a window. The bed was a bit of a mess as they had hooked two biggish singles together and then put a completely too small sheet over the top! We "obtained" two single bed sheets and unzipped the two mattresses and covered each with one sheet. When you get the room check the bed carefully. Parking was available under the hotel and it was pricey at Eu6-50 a night, but was secure. The wifi was poor as it was weak and unsecured.
For once my sat nav actually found the right address. The receptionist that we dealt with spoke very good English although she was quiet appreciative that we tried to book in in French. She only went into English when we asked about where's the best places to eat and drink as some route were complicated, but she provided us with a street map and off we went. The room is a good double size with a small kitchen area complete with pots and pans for two, cutlery, microwave and fridge. It had a very clean and well thought out shower room. The beds were comfortable and the room we had overlooked a rear courtyard so was quiet. Parking was easily accessed once the BIG white door was found (fob operated obtainable from reception). For once the parking spaces were large, you can open all the doors fully and still be within the bay. Our room was clean and tidy however we are not furniture removers so did not look under the beds as some previous reviewers have. If we were to be working in Chalon-sur-soane for a short time it would be a great place to stay. My wife, who does work a lot in France, has since found a similar set up in Lyon and now stays there when she over there. Breakfast is reasonable for France a bit expensive but we have yet to find a cheap breakfast in a French hotel even in formula . We would not hesitate in returning and probably will.
So disappointed! Really great reception staff. Parking is a lottery unless you have booked the underground parking at the hotel. Good bathroom, beds and linen fine. We had a tiny room and had to move a twin bed to sit properly at the table for dinner. Filthy thick dust under the bed. That and the awful state of the kitchen area gets the 2-rating. I had to wash ALL items prior to use from the kitchen, the dishwasher needed replaced it was so bad and a horrid used pot washer. Even the coffee maker was not cleaned out properly. We had been on a self catering holiday so were equiped to deal with the kitchen. Yuk! What is really disappointing is that the previous 2 nights we had been in another Appart'city hotel which had been fantastic; absolutely spot on all round.
Our overnight stop returning from Spain, driven well over 1,200 kms and wanted a good bed. The staff were ok but the room was not the cleanest we have stayed in. The beds were uncomfortable and there is no air conditioning and it was really hot Sorry hotel but I would not recommend this one
It's dirty but you can manage for a night. Good location not far from the motorway for an easy stopover. Nice duvets, furniture modern. Reception was meant to be open late but they sent a mail to say it would be closed after 9pm. However they also send codes for a safe and it all worked ok. the bathroom was dirty with hair and dust and a load of wood shavings behind the sink where it was coming away. Bearable for a night but certainly wouldn't want to stop here. Managed to park outside on the street and since we were leaving the next day at 7am it was free, Really was a quick stopover so the price was the best we could find.
