The hotel is just at the side road near the Basilica. Clean and very roomy. Breakfast is plentiful and relaxed. Could do with a drinks machine at the lobby dispensing hot and cold drink. Plenty of cafes around but need to walk some distances which is hard for those with physical disability unless they got companions to assist them. A big thank you to George at the reception and the other man for helping us. i hope I spelled the name correctly. They are pleasant. The other man had to go up and down to fetch a hairdryer as the hairdryer in the bathroom is not working.
The best part of staying at Hotel Cruz Alta was it's proximity to the Fatima Sanctuary and Fatima Basilica and Church of Apparitions. We went in the night to pray at the church of apparitions and say the rosary and take part in the candle light procession where pilgrims from all corners of the world come to honor Our Lady. Our hotel being so close to the church was a real advantage. Besides the proximity to the church what we liked were the spacious rooms and a good spread for breakfast and dinner. For dinner they would offer a complimentary bottle of wine on every table which was very welcome !
This hotel is right next to the Fatima Shrine. It's a stone's throw away from the Holy Trinity Chapel. It's relatively new, considering that there's a niche for a refrigerator, but no refrigerator yet. We were there Oct. 12 and 13 and we saw new furniture delivered on the 13th. I like it for it's convenience and the food is not bad. This hotel is walking distance to a Pingo Dolce (grocery) if you need to buy salad to supplement your meals, as well as water to drink. The hotel offers wine and water for a fee if you don't want to look for Pingo. It is also within walking distance to the Stations of the Cross as well as the houses of the three visionaries. This is a long walk so one can take the minitrain for 2.50€ if one does not feel like walking. There are handcrafted items for sale at the village of the three children. The prices are very reasonable. The workmanship of the poncho and tablecloth that I bought was impressive. If you are lucky you can meet St. Lucia's cousin, Maria de los Angeles.
Excellent hotel just across the street from the Basilica. Within minutes of everything. The room Was Very spacious and comfortable. With a corner balcony Was a great stay. The Breakfast Bar was very well stock and was delicious with good coffee. The staff, was making every effort and going out of their way to make sure you will have a nice stay. Mr. Jorge is a big asset to this establishment. He was so friendly as he even tried to fix my broken luggage. He show me where are the attractions and how to get there. I had a great spiritual pilgrimage to Fatima and this was one big part of it. I really appreciate your great attention to details. Thank you very much.
I booked this hotel like many others from reviews I had read and found it to be a little gem. It is so convenient to the grotto and services just out the front door and across the road and You are there. The rooms are clean comfortable and very spacious. The breakfast is continental style but delicious and more than you could possibly eat and just like being at home. But what really makes the hotel special is the friendly welcome from reception and assistance With anything your require. On the morning of our departure the gentleman on reception Jorge was so efficient ensuring that everyone was looked after for breakfast, also checking people Out and was so helpful and nice. I would highly recommend this hotel for a visit to Fatima And was such good value. It's sister hotel up the road is also to be recommend for evening meal We went for the buffet for around €16 and was great value. One word of caution re Fatima and indeed Portugal in general and something I experienced for the first time this year is to beware of Fares being charged by taxis. I had bad experiences in Quarteria, Fatima and Lisbon in this regard. Check out what the going rate for your trip is with your hotel and don't pay them roughly anymore than that. We had a taxi in Lisbon demand €15 for what was a €5 trip, needless to say he did not get it ...we also had a taxi driver in Fatima request €7.7O for journey from hotel to bus station a journey that cost €5 on our way in. However this is no reflection on this hotel which as it say is a gem.
The four of us had a very nice stay at the Cruz Alta. The front desk staff Debora, Samuel and Jorge were very helpful, polite, with a pleasant personality. It was nice to be greeted by their smiling faces. Jorge had a lot of knowledge of all the important places to visit and gave us some very valuable information. The Hotel was very clean and well lit. The best part was the close proximity to the Basilica - just a few minutes away. The inclusive breakfast was substantial which was good value for the money. We will definitely come back and would recommend this chain of hotels to our friends. The only negative was that there was no mini fridge in the room at the Cruz Alta but I've learned since that their other hotels are equipped with it. All in all it was a enjoyable stay.
We had 3 rooms for 2 families. The hotel was clean, functional, ideally located, with a place to opark the cars in the shade. Breakfast was appreciated by all. Note that there is no restaurant in the hotel and that WiFi, while available, could be improved (the hotel people told us they were working on it).
I learned about this hotel from here and it turned out to be wonderful. It is right across from the Shrine (the new Holy Family Basilica to be exact). The breakfast was very nice and we felt it was a great value. The rooms was a very good size for the price. Overall, a great hotel if going to the Shrine.
A clean and comfortable hotel with good amenities and facilities that's a short walk away from the church/basilica complex entrance. The staffs were helpful and friendly and, as the hotel had another property a few hotels away, the staffs at the sister-hotel was able to deliver meals from their hotel to ours. The only complaint we had was an unknown insect that snuck into our room. We didn't know how since the room & restrooms were spotless but the front desk told us that our description of the dead insect (we killed it) sounded like a "centipede" type insect that lived in the the grounds of Fatima. Overall, the stay here was pleasant and the hotel is situated in a more "upmarket" area of the town so the street was quiet and there were less tourists roaming the streets in front of the hotel. Although there are some stores located beside the hotel, the town is livelier in the area around the other entrance to the church/basilica complex (where some wax museums are located); there are more stores and eateries at lower prices around that area. However, for an "upmarket" hotel, the price offered excellent value when paying in Euros. FYI, you may want to contact the hotel if internet is free for the wi-fi or not as the PC provided you need to pay.
Clean and spacious rooms which were better than the 3* advertised. Free car parking (limited space). Kind staff. Worthwhile booking breakfast. Would book again if travelling to Fatima. Easy to find from the motorway.
