We loved Santander as a city and this hotel was just fab! To get into Santander town centre is either a 20-minute walk or hop on a bus (very cheap), there are lots of local shops, and a really good Chinese restaurant locally, additionally you can walk across the street and be right on the beach! Beautiful hotel, rooms were very well furnished, and were of average size. The restaurant was very nice, and almost empty which was great (we were only there for breakfast), very modern but nice food, some Spanish style some just traditional European. Overall lovely hotel in a beautiful town.
We had a room looking out over the bay & beach and it was beautiful. Perfect end to have 3 nights here before going home. Poor experiences at reception (gave us wrong info), the cafe and the main restaurant. All staff seemed very lacking in knowledge of the hotel or area. (Great housekeeping staff) Hotel position was superb.
Great 2 day business stay, location just outside town but in a nice spot opposite the beach. Get a sea view room for a great views. Very friendly and helpful staff. 15 minute walk along the promenade to town
This hotel is fabulous! After spending 3 nights in a cramped room in San Sebastian we traveled to Santander and checked into this place. Beautiful views with windows that opened up to the breeze and ocean air. The beach across the street is SO pretty. We could hear the waves all night. Definitely a romantic place to go! Very spacious room and bathroom with bathtub. Some cracks in walls, curtains a bit raggedy, but who cares with that view! Nice bar, beautiful restaurant and breakfast was good with lots of choices. Helpful staff made visit pleasant. Taxis showed up within 2 minutes when needed. Across the street from Hop on Hop off Tours and a great bar and restaurant on beach. Just a two minute walk from Casino. Santander is a gorgeous city and this hotel made it even better. Would stay here again for weeks! Great deal pricewise, too.
This is a well positioned hotel if you want to be near the beach. There are some restaurants nearby as well as the Casino. The hotel is clean and well maintained. We had a room overlooking the sea and the road. Noise was not an issue as we like to hear the sea and accept a bit of noise from cars. The room was modern and clean. The bed was comfortable. Breakfast was very good (included in our room rate).
The hotel was situated on the main beach front in the main area and was easy to find. You can park for free in the small car park next to the hotel or on the street. On arrival the man on reception was unfriendly and quite indifferent so not a good welcome. We took the lift to our room. The room was spacious, clean, quiet, comfortable and well maintained with two single beds. There was no coffee/tea facilities. The bathroom had a bath and shower and good toiletries. The room was nicely finished with a traditional feel and there were two very large windows overlooking the promenade and beach. Great panoramic view. No breakfast included. There was free WiFi but it was limited and weak. Good value and would highly recommend to other travelers.
We stayed here three nights and had a lovely ocean view. Check in was very efficient and the property has (very) small elevators. It has 'additive architecture' in that you have to be careful what elevator you get on because there are some steps to navigate because of different levels on each floor....not a big deal. Close to the ocean and within walking distance of a number of activities and sites in the area. Being vegetarians, we had some food issues, partly because most of the restaurants did not have vegetarian fare, but also because we were there during the Columbus Day holiday and lots of restaurants were closed. I think things would have been easier on a non-holiday. Some small convenience-type grocers were nearby, but closed on the holiday. I used 3 stars in my rating but I think 3.5 stars would be a bit more realistic. Overall, though, we had a good time in Santander and the hotel with its view was a positive.
It was not what we expected. Our room was nothing like those shown on the web site. It was an attic=like room on the top floor, with two small windows in the slanted portion of the roof. We had to stand up by the window to see out and even then there was no interesting view. The room was hot and there was no air conditioning . The lobby consists of two plastic chairs next to the entrance. I do no believe that this hotel deserves a 4 star rating.
check in was efficient but not friendly our room was directly opp.the lift, we had a small balcony, with beautiful views of the lovely busy beach, and of the gardens opposite. Room was basic, comfy but a bit dated , but a great fridge! but the most complicated safe to operate twice we had to ask for assistance to open it 3rd time we gave up. The hop on/off busstop is closeby and is a great way of seeing the city. The service buses are plentiful and near costing 2euro 60cents for 2 into Santander, buses can be very very busy, numbers don't seem to be limited! We were here 4 days during which time we were in and out of the hotel very often but seldom saw anyone attending the desk,if there was there were never any greetings or welcoming conversation from them! and since this was our last hotel in 3 weeks it was very obvious I also departed from this hotel with more insect bites than what I arrived with!!
The trip was a combined conference and holiday trip. When booking the hotel, it was advertised as "fully refurbished, great location". Yes, the location next to the El Sardinero beach is very nice and the view from our room over the ocean was lovely, but the hotel is in poor shape. Old rooms, horrible beds, far from refurbished. The first two nights were horrendous as the management had decided that the air-conditioning should be switched off at night. Hence, we had no air and a scorching room. After complaining on our third day there, the AC was reluctantly turned on. The staff at the front desk showed extremely little understanding and offered no consolation for two bad nights. The breakfast was poor, if you came after 9 am then the bread, cheese and fruit would be gone and nothing was refilled. Several of the staff in the breakfast room spoke no English what so ever. I can't understand how this hotel has a four-star rating. I would never stay here again.
