Two night stay. Pleasant place, good room with garden views. On site parking. Facilities are shared with the other Parador in Santillana. Nice breakfast but didn't try the restaurant as there are too many lovely local places to eat. Lovely old town to wander round.
Lovely hotel, located in the middle of the old town. Bar food good, and breakfast excellent. A pleasant welcome after a long day. Highly recommended. I look forward to staying here again very soon. ...
The Parador is harmonized with the center of this ancient, middle-age town, even if the building is a recent "hacienda". Only "defects" are the absence of an internal restaurant which is located in Parador de Santillana Gil Blas located a few meters away and a little noise from outside in the rooms close to the elevator. The good breakfast (served inside the Parador) and the warm welcome from the staff complete the Parador experience which makes this place a recommended choice for your stay in Santillana.
I staid there for business and it is really a trip in the past... The town is very beautiful place to visit and it is a very hold town where you could "smell" the flavor of the past. The Hotel is in a very hold style and the rooms are not so well soundproofed with a very noise parquet. Despite this the Hotel is one of the best choice you could do to stay in Santillana Del Mar.
Parador set in a charming old castle like building. Lovely decoration and friendly, helpful staff. Great location in medieval village. Good location for visiting Altamira Cave. Large breakfast buffet with many Spanish specialities such as Serrano ham, Spanish omelet, local dishes. Really excellent!
The Parador is 3* and does just what it says on the tin - no nonsense, comfortable, clean and quiet. We had a great room on the first floor looking onto the (small) car park, it was fine weather and we could have the doors open and sit out to read. We had a lovely welcome by the delightful receptionist. Santillana is a gem of an ancient town and close to the hills and caves and the sandy beaches.
Santillana del Mar is a quaint old town worth the visit for one night. The Parador is in the centre near everything. It offers large rooms with comfortable beds, a nice large bathroom and a view of the courtyard. A unique experience.
As with all Paradores I have visited, the building and contents are a delight. Very atmospheric and fitting in to the delightful town atmosphere. The restaurant with its view to the garden would be a delightful venue for a meal. Coffee was served in the bar by a delightful and friendly lady. Recommended for the peace and quiet and atmosphere.
I have stayed here a number of times over the years and the first floor landing in the main hotel in particular never fails to impress. The whole hotel is very pleasant and well equipped in both the main building and the second building (or second hotel, it is never quite clear which) The car park tends to get crowded, but in the centre of town there is not much to be done about that. There is nothing to complain about with the hotel restaurant but then nothing to get excited about either.
Although there are 2 paradores in town, this is the 3star variety. Still good quality for your money, free parking and an excellent breakfast. However apart from rooms and breakfast no other amenities. They should consider opening a bar
- Free WiFi in rooms and public areas
- Onsite dining
- Rooftop terrace
- Laundry facilities
