The place is great, we have been staying there for years. We were originally in a studio, but due to the heavy rains we had to move to the villa which was awesome. Friendly staff, great location, we will be back again, pura vida!
We staying 6 days in room 20. We had a private pool overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Workers very professional and nice. Restaurant was great. Must try the rice and black beans. Many animals like spider monkeys and lizards around hotel property. The area is close to all restaurants, bakery's and supermarkets. We will be back.
We traveled to Santa Teresa with our 12 year old son who is a wheelchair user. Despite the hotel being less than handicap accessible (which we were aware of before making our reservation), our experience was incredible. The friendly staff went above and beyond the call of duty to help us with anything we needed for our son and made sure our stay truly memorable. The food was fabulous, the beach was beautiful and the sunsets were perfect. Thank you for accommodating us despite our differences.
We stayed on the top floor of the beach house (room 21) where we had an ocean view and were just steps from the beach. Because the property is nestled within the very tropical forest, don't be alarmed by the iguanas, squirrels, crabs, and other fauna that scurry along the paths that interconnect the open air restaurant, yoga studio and spa. Service was lovely, accommodating and the staff were always incredibly friendly. This is an excellent location as it's just a short ride from many other beaches and cafes in the Mal Paìs and Santa Teresa area. Highly recommend.
We stayed at Tropico Latino for 11 nights so we really got a good feel for the place. Our stay started off a bit rough in room #23 - the entry level room that is very close to the beach and has a very big front patio with outdoor couch - but was very mildewy. We arrived late and exhausted, and decided to sleep it off and see how we felt in the morning. At which time we were awakened by noisy kids and realized our room backed up to the suite. So to reception we went to request a change. Evelyn took care of us, even letting us see a room that was better than what we booked, and off we moved to #7, an adorable stand alone cabina with a peekaboo ocean view. Here we stayed for 8 nights but we had to move for the last 2 as the other was booked, so off we went to #5 a very spacious attached bungalow. It's a small property so the moves were easy and we enjoyed the adventure of seeing three rooms. 8 and 5 are super, but I can't recommend #23. Overall we loved our stay - the beachfront location and proximity to town, mini super, and many great restaurants made our vacation so easy. We enjoyed lazing on the beach and hopping in the pool and grabbing a drink. All the bar staff was nice but we really liked Andy - genuinely nice guy. Can't say same for crabby chef :-( My favorite parts of our stay were the amazing hospitality we received from Evelyn, and her gracious help with our room changes, and the YOGA!!! Christophe was a truly spectacular teacher. My only suggestion to the hotel management would be to step up the beach front maintenance - there was a lot of trash and debris on the beach that was only raked up once, and the chairs and lounges need to be managed and moved about daily as guests drag them all over. OH and PLEASE put coffee mugs in the rooms - no paper waste and coffee just tasted better out of a mug. These are easy fixes, so I hope they listen. Thank you for a wonderful stay to all staff - Pura Vida!
Small boutique hotel right in the heart of this funky surfing village and right on the beach. The staff is awesome (friendly and professional) especially the receptionist Evelyn! It has a very rustic charm with various cabanas and standard rooms (well above standard in my book). The pool located between the restaurant and beach is stunning and the beach has lovely hammocks to view the breathtaking waves and sunsets. Unfortunately, it poured on my second day but the day was saved by the most amazing body scrub and massage in a spa right on the beach (ask for Mary). I tried the restaurant one night but even though it was beautifully presented I was a bit disappointed and frustrated that they charged me for tap water when there are water fountains at reception for guests to use as one can't drink water in the rooms. There are soo many awesome restaurants to try in town that this was quickly forgotten. A true gem in my book!
Wonderful time in Costa Rica! The hotel provided help with everything. Any activity you wanted, they were able to call and arrange for you which included horseback riding, ATV rental, massages, etc. Great surfing with mellow crowd located out front of the casitas. Highly recommend staying here!
I recently stayed at Hotel Tropico Latino with a Puravida Adventures women's surfing retreat. The staff at Hotel TL were extremely accommodating and I loved every minute of my stay. The front desk was always helpful and kind with any questions, the bar and restaurant staff were our friends by the end of our retreat... the food at the restaurant was amazing and fresh and the drinks were perfection. The spa is worth it - my masseuse was Gabby and I can't recommend her relaxation massage enough. I am a bit snobby when it comes to beds and I never would have thought that they would be so comfortable. Bring some earplugs for the occasional morning howler monkey, but otherwise the the rooms were quiet and tranquil. (And hey, it's a monkey call waking you up, how cool is that?) Will be going back for sure! Great casual place and completely happy with my experience.
Awesome rooms, quiet, peaceful, clean and comfortable. We stayed in a range of rooms during our stay and all were lovely - however No.20 wins! A private pool with the beach literally just in front of you = AWESOME! Definitely go to yoga with Jess - simply amazing!
Our kids surf in the national contests in Costa Rica, so we have been traveling to all the beach towns throughout Costa Rica over the past 3 years. Santa Teresa is top spot on the list for our family with beautiful beaches and great restaurants. This was our 2nd time back to Hotel Tropico Latino, and will definitely be our spot next time. The rooms/bangalows are quiet and comfortable with a/c. All of the staff was very friendly throughout; they even delivered food to us 300 meters down the beach while we were watching the surf contest. Their restaurant / breakfast spot / smoothie stop, which is actually on the beach, is amazing. After the restaurant, they have chairs & hammocks in the shade on the beach & next is the amazing beach with tide pools on one side & great surfing everywhere. Great Job!
