Captivating ocean views from high above the city lights of Santa Barbara meld with traditional east coast style making Prospect Hill a jewel among jewels on "America's Riviera." The views from here capture the coastline and Channel Islands' splendor. All bedrooms are en suite, and with an impeccably maintained and beautifully designed home, pride of ownership is palpable. The classic architecture is unmistakable, with wide trim molding, richly colored wood floors, white cabinetry, built-ins, and oodles of charm.
Behind the gated entry, the property's lush, terraced grounds are perfectly maintained with climbing roses, fragrant botanicals, various decks, and stone terraces. The front deck wraps around the home with seating and dining that is sure to be a popular place to unwind and enjoy the location high above it all. On the main level, the living room picture window frames the views; a fireplace adds to the room's warmth, while a flat-screen television creates a central place to gather and relax.
The adjacent dining room has an impressive antique dining table that can seat up to eight guests comfortably, while a built-in sideboard makes an ideal holding spot for the fabulous meal waiting to be served. The kitchen is a culinary showpiece with polished Carrara marble counters, a prep island, a farm sink, and a 48" Viking dual oven range. White and glass cabinetry is fully stocked with cookware, dishes, and service items to accommodate everyday meals and holiday feasts. Seating at the island offers a great perch to watch meal prep or enjoy coffee with an irresistible pastry from one of the award-winning local bakeries (Try Alessia, Renaud's, and Jeannines for starters!) In addition, several French doors here create indoor-outdoor appeal and offer access to the backyard terrace (detailed below)
Two bedrooms reside on this same entry level. The front suite is a sunny sanctuary with a queen-size bed, plenty of light, and an en-suite bathroom. Toss open the French to the front terrace, a perfect perch for a quiet moment just to take in the view. The other bedroom suite is just off the kitchen with a twin bed, a desk, and an en-suite bathroom outfitted with a drenching rain shower.
From the entry foyer, head upstairs. At the top of the staircase on the landing outside the primary suite is a built-in high-top desk that looks out to the ocean. Be warned; the view from here might be distracting if trying to get some work done! The suite with king-size bed is romantic and full of warmth and charm. French doors lead to a private ocean-view balcony making this a serene escape anytime of day or night.
The private, terraced backyard off the kitchen and dining rooms, designed with three separate areas, offers a variety of uses, from quiet moments to elegant entertaining. The dining terrace directly off the formal dining room has a barbecue and a large shade umbrella. Mid-level, just up a few stairs, is an outdoor living room with comfortable seating and an impressive stone fireplace to illuminate after-dinner conversation. The uppermost garden area, with two luxury chaise lounges, will be the ultimate place to nap or soak up some warm California sunshine. Remember the sunscreen, though!
And when it's time to venture out, the winding streets of the surrounding neighborhood offer heart-pumping walks on picturesque streets. The Santa Barbara Mission and Rose Gardens make a lovely destination for a picnic, July 4th fireworks, Old Spanish Day festivities, a lively game of frisbee, or just relaxing in the sunshine in a "local's favorite" park setting. The home is beautiful! The layout of rooms is great and the home decor is wonderful! Front decks are perfect for night time relaxing with amazing views. The landscaping is wonderful. We loved our time in Santa Barbara and so happy we stayed in this home

This house was exactly as it is described on line ~it was perfect for my needs.
This house worked out very well for us: walking distance to downtown Santa Barbara, lovely indoor and outdoor spaces, and a well equipped kitchen. We enjoyed our stay there and hope to return again!
