Used this hotel 34 years ago, what a disappointment now, ripped curtains, shower hose with chrome plating peeling off, problems with dodgy locks and less than helpful staff. Great location, bit of noise from motorway, stayed in far better and paid less.
Thai green curry. My husband had gammon said he really enjoyed it. I would recommend this hotel the grounds are well kept. Also Sandbach is a beautiful town they have some great shops and the Sandbach park is very pretty.
The hotel is located in a lovely setting. It is just such a shame that our stay was spoilt by very poor service. Our first taste of this was a call to our room for a taxi which had been requested by another couple ahead of us at the reception when we checked in. Dinner is served in an open plan room which looks more like a canteen with scratched unlaid tables, with no tablecloths. There was no one to greet us to show us to our table and we watched and waited upto 4 members of staff chatting and laughing in the bar until our bottle of wine arrived some 20 minutes later. The requested jug of water eventually landed half way through the main course. The waitress came to take our order only to find we hadn't even been given a menu. She generously amended this with one menu between us. Sadly breakfast was no better with various items constantly running out and the staff reacting to requests for cutlery and crockery, bread, orange juice and milk. A fellow guest gave up and drank his orange juice from a mug. Such a pity as with good leadership and a rethink of the interior design this place could be so much better.
Lovely afternoon tea. We were made welcome and served promptly with a very tasty variety of sandwiches, scones, strawberries, cream and slices of cake. The staff checked several times to make sure we were happy and had got all we needed.
Very convenient for a night's stopover along the M6. Clean, tidy, quiet, relaxing, good sized rooms and friendly and helpful staff. One downside is the occasional loud bangs from the bedroom doors due to the force required to close them. Would definitely stay there again to break up a long journey.
Maybe I turned up on a busy day I don't know but I had to wait an hour for my main course and they ran out of beer. But hey we all have bad days. Offset that with a welcome from the team that was great, an ok room and an excellent location for M6 travellers. Will I return? Yes.
Would not stay here even if was free No duty manager on site & took my money on arrival from my debit card without asking & charged an extra £25 pound for arriving early as they new , hey the room was not ready & stunk of fags . So it got worse second room wallpaper hanging off the wall .
Pleasant hotel and lovely staff all making us feel at home. Staff go the extra mile to help. Room comfortable and clean. This is our 2nd week stay here Sunday to Friday and booked in again next week whilst we are moving house.
We use this hotel for our annual reunions and we are always welcome. It is undergoing improvements and so some allowances have to be made. The staff are marvellous and I cannot thank them enough for the way they rallied round and helped me when I was overcome by the heat. They also delivered the same quality level of support at all other times. Part of the time they seemed to be sparse in numbers, something for the owners to address. The food was good, the vegetarian Wellington excellent. Thanks to the staff for a relaxing stay.
One of the better hotels in Sandbach. Good breakfast and nice meals served. Lovely big light conservatory to eat and drink in. Rooms tired, peeling wallpaper. At time of booking we were told the bar is open late for residents. Last time we visited (November) the bar was open when we returned from a family party and we stayed up late, spent a fortune, service was good. This time we visited, after another family party, we expected the same again but the bar was closed when we returned just after midnight and the staff said they would not serve. When we explained that we had been told the bar would be available late for residents, the staff member was stressed out and unapologetic and even mentioned calling the police (there had been no bad behaviour or even a raised voice). Disappointing end to the night as taxis are so difficult to get in Sandbach so that was the end of a long awaited night. Won't return.
