We stayed in this hotel for a week during our stay in San Sebastian. The hotel is about one kilometer away from the old town of San Sebastian, so prepared to walk or come with your car. They have garage but it costs about 25 euros per day. We had a nice sweet with two terraces and a living room and a bed room that were comfortable and decorated in a quite nice modern way. One shortcoming was that during the cleaning someone took a piece of our property from the room. The hotel replaced it per our request but it did not feel good that someone comes to your room and takes your stuff. The terraces were ok but in this kind of hotel you would expect that they had put something more there - now it was only concrete floor, cheap chairs and some broken tiles on the wall, no plants or anything that would make it look more cozy. The staff was ok but not great.
good hotel with efficient staff who were helpful and professional. The hotel is in OK location with a pleasant 15min walk to the centre. It is a bit pricey and car parking charges should be made clearer when booking
Recently visited in July, sadly had a rainy stay .... Overall a good hotel modern, clean rooms with nice toiletries. A bit far to walk to the downtown area (a good 30 min. walk) Staff is friedlly and breakfast buffet is very good.
We stayed at the Silken for three nights on a great package deal through Taylor made rail holidays which included, bed and breakfast. The lobby is very modern. The room was very large with very comfortable bedding. Bathroom was large with lots of amenities. We were on the 5th floor and had the gorgeous river view. It was great waking up in the morning to see the sun rising. The front desk and all the staff were very accommodating and friendly. The walking distance from the hotel into town was about 20 minutes. You can also catch the bus from across the street from the hotel and it takes about 5 minutes. I can recommend the travel card you can purchase at the front desk. The walk along the river was lovely and there were lots of cafes and restaurants in the hotel area. Buffet breakfast was excellent! San Sebastian is a beautiful city with lovely people, we will be back!
We picked this hotel for two reasons - A) price (hotels here are very expensive in high season - this place was the most reasonable option we could find) and B) they had a car park (19 euros a night) We stayed for 2 nights and I requested a room on a high floor - we got the 7th which was great. Room had a lovely view down the river, bed was comfortable and we had all we needed. Breakfast was not included but there are loads of options in this city so we ate out. Check in and out were seamless - staff not over friendly or helpful (no offer of a map or anything) but professional and pleasant enough. The car park is under the hotel and is the usual Spanish offering of v tight spaces and concrete columns so be careful. Hotel is a 15-20 minute walk from the centre but it is a pleasant enough stroll and you can either walk down the river or down the main roads past shops and bars. San Sebastian is a great city and well worth a couple of days of anyone's time - a pretty little old town, fantastic beaches, wonderful sunsets and loads of eating and drinking options - the pintxos bars (Basque tapas) are fab. This hotel is really aimed at business travellers - it is a bit beige and bland but it worked fine as a base for us and ideal if you need the car parking as we did.
We stayed (3 of us ) four nights in the hotel. It's clean , bed is comfortable , room size ok and bathroom was big enough. We didn't book a breakfast so can't comment on that. There is a good size eating area where they sell breads and coffee for breakfast. It seemed like there are tour groups staying there because the cafe was busy in the morning we wanted to buy something. I didn't check if they serve dinner .My only regret was I didn't take the time to check out other places that could have been nearer to the town center. It's around 15-20 minutes to old town . The walk is not bad , but the weather was unexpectedly cold the week we were there . There's a mini mall around 5 minutes or so where you can rent a car. The staff is friendly and helpful. Train and bus station a short distance away. Overall, I have no complaints with the hotel.
Stayed here for three nights for a birthday treat. Hotel was clean, bed very comfortable, the staff very helpful and the gin and tonics were huge! Great town to visit for a short break, bring comfy shoes we walked miles. The beaches are lovely. Hit and Miss with the food, but mostly a hit and not a bad glass of wine to be seen or tasted anywhere.
I booked to stay at the Silken Amara Plaza with my colleagues as we were working in San Sebastian. However I am writing this review to let you know that the water in the hotel is very dirty. After a hard day working in the town I returned back to my room and ran a bath. The water that came out was yellow and murky with thick brown scum around the edges and a damp smell. I went down to the reception to let them know and they told me someone would come up. No one ever did for the duration of my stay. The following day, the water was the same so I went down to reception only to be told as no managers were in as there was noting they could do. I was outraged. Myself and my colleagues were over professionally on business and I have spent over 2k with the hotel in rooms with no discount offered on account of not being able to wash in clean water. I have since emailed the hotel asking for an explanation. They have told me that it isn't there fault, and the town hall have confirmed the 'water was fit for consumption'. I certainly wouldn't advise drinking that water! I did not expect this from a 4 star hotel. I feel really cross that they treated me so rudely. I even asked the girl in reception - 'would you wash in this water' and she honestly replied 'no i wouldn't'. Please if you like clean water and polite helpful staff do not stay here!!
With parking underneath the hotel, this was easy to drive to for a stopover in this city. The hotel is modern and with an easy 20 minute walk to the beach and old town. Pleasant and comfortable room, although we had the window open as the air conditioning wasn't fantastic.
A little bit far away from the old town but good location in fact, it takes nearly 20 minutes by walking to the center, breakfast is very good, room is large,I recommend the hotel to everyone visiting San Sebastian
