This hotel is on the river side approximately 15mins walk from the old town and beach. It is well located if you are travelling out each day as it is easy to get to and from the hotel by road and there is a large car park located beneath the hotel. The rooms are reasonably sized although not large but they are well equipped with nice modern bathrooms. The hotel was very clean and the staff helpful. Breakfast was of reasonable quality with a huge choice on offer. There is a restaurant which is open all day and serves anything from small snacks to tapas and larger meals. There is also a friendly bar with drinks at very reasonable prices. Generally this was a very relaxed place to spend a few days.
This hotel is not more than average. Maybe you should go their for a business trip and not for leisure. Unfortunately, the rooms were not very clean and the overall atmosphere is not welcoming. There is no cosiness and the standard rooms are quite small. At least the breakfast was very good.
visted San Sebastian last weekend and stayed at the silken Amara hotel. Nice hotel with good buffet breakfast - situated by the river and a brisk 20 minute walk through a linear park takes you to the old town and the beaches. Helpful staff and relaxing atmosphere
Stayed here for 4 nights and found hotel large, clean, spacious rooms. They have 2 elevators and when they have groups, which we saw no less than 5 tour groups, it makes for busy time. Small check-in area though they can and do set up group check-in area. Elevators however, became almost impossible. You just have to deal with it. Location was good, about 15-20 minute walk to beach, bars, cafes, restaurants. Very little good places around hotel. If breakfast included, which we had, you'll be really pleased. Had best display of just about everything you can think of. Ate in the bar one evening and it was pretty good as well. Parking is chore and not cheap. About 20 euro daily in a place you don't need (or want) a car. Can walk everywhere. All in all, yes, we'd come back. We enjoy the comforts of modern hotel at fair rate.
modern, classy, nice rooms, amazing buffet breakfast. it is a mile or more into the old city but worth it to me. Quiet, not too many restaurants in the immediate area but the hotel is so nice it is worth it. About a 6 euro taxi ride into the old city, or walkable if you are fit and the weather permits.
The public areas of this hotel are beautifully decorated and the bedrooms modern, spacious and comfortable. Staff are lovely and very helpful. Just a 15 minute walk from the harbour via shopping area. Big benefit is Parking under the Hotel.
Modern hotel ten minutes walk from the beautiful bay and old town of San Sebastián. Friendly staff and good food. Recommend for a couple of nights. Take the the train to Bilbao if you want to see the Guggenheim museum
On arrival we were initially impressed by the cleanliness of our room. The bed was really comfy and the room was spacious. However after heavy rain on the second day of our stay we returned back late to our room to find that the room had started to flood through the 3 window seal/frames and staff had entered the room while we were out and filled the inside window ledges with towels which were soaking wet by that time. This happened twice during our stay. They were obviously aware of this and no mention was made on the hotels part about the situation which we found disappointing especially as the hotel is supposed to have a 4* rating. I would suggest that in future known repairs are carried out before letting the room to guests as this would definitely make me think twice about returning or recommending the hotel as an option to stay in to others. Other gripes were the only mirror was in the bathroom along with the hairdryer (which was absolutely useless...bring your own!). I had to stand for 40 minutes trying to dry my hair with the equivalent breeze of a gnat's fart! The shower was also weak with minimal pressure. Good points; Comfortable beds, 15 mins trot to the Old Town, Nice staff and clean rooms.
Hotel is nice. We were on tour during august and the air conditioning was not cold. You can not control it in the room. It is universally controlled. It was never cool In the room. Rooms were clean and staff was very nice. A good location to get to many attractions and restaurants.
The room was good for European standards. The staff very attentive. The location is a bit far if all you want is to be at the beach and relax (about a 20 minute walk). The air conditioning didn't work (for us Americans) and the shower was not very good. The water will get hot and cold at any moment for no reason. All and all, and ok place. Will try to stay at the Gros area next time.
