Hotel Silken Amara Plaza

Stayed here while on business in San Sebastian, and in general, pretty happy with the place. It's just a little on the dated side now though, and possibly in need of a little refurb to really make it stand out in this day and age. The rooms are clean, and beds comfy with plenty of power points nearby. The bath/shower might cause a slight problem if for older visitors, but the arrangement isn't uncommon, so you probably know what to expect. Wifi won't set the world alight, but OK for browsing and email, television selection all Spanish, with no international options. Breakfast was usual continental fare, with a few hot dishes and good coffee. Unfortunately the whole stay was spoiled by the person in the room next to me dragging chairs and being noisy until gone four in the morning (working early the next day). Absolutely infuriating, and although the hotel can't really be blamed the stone/tiled floors turned my bedroom into a giant echo chamber, meaning i hardly slept at all. The Amara is also quite a walk from town (25 minutes at a brisk pace) which is obviously no problem on a balmy summers night, but a bit of a pain on a rainy February one!!

for what they offer very overpriced we live in mallorca where similar prices offer 4 star everything not just rooms the bar area istrying to be modern with a look of ikea rejects the restaurant looks like an aftertought if you can work out the aircon the room would be perfect we had to sleep with the window open so many sirens most of the night

We stayed at Silken Amara Plaza for three nights in january 2018 when visiting family in Donostia and the nearby area. We chose the hotel due to its proximity to the family home and also due to the hotels parking facilities since parking in the inner city tends to be very difficult. The hotel is located by the river side with a nice view. A walk along the river takes you to the very heart of the city and the beautiful beach walk in no time. The standard room provided were on the smaller side and with the baby crib provided the space felt quite crammed. The room and bathroom was clean but you could tell that the facility is getting old and would benefit from an update. The breakfast was good and the best part was the breakfast attendant who greeted us every morning with her warm smile! Overall a nice hotel but it lacked that ”something extra” that makes you want to return again and again. Thank you for having us!

We just stayed here beginning of January. First of all the staff are incredibly well trained and friendly. My luggage didn’t arrive with my flight but the staff at night and the morning shift had communicated very well regarding looking out for its arrival. The food at the restaurant is excellent (we ate there every day) and again, the staff were amazing. Rooms were comfortable and very clean. Overall I felt we got great value for the money.

Very good location, also with parking, we had a room with a view of the river We used the restaurant and bar and the staff were very good and personable, we could not stop for the breakfast, weather was not good but not the fault of the hotel

The hotel is not spectacular and nor it’s position, but it is a clean, cozy and nice hotel. Rooms are medium size, with all you need, stuff is polite and discret. The best part is the breakfast: so many good food and a variety of seafood and local dishes.

Hotel not bad, but if you go for Pintxos during the week end, if to far to walk from center. By car the acess is not easy parking is expensive. This Hotel should hav belong to another chaine before and know they have Silken brand.

Recently stayed here for a couple of nights whilst on business. Room was clean and well laid out. WiFi worked well. Breakfast was nice with good selection. Front desk staff were helpful. All in all, very good hotel. Only slight issue was a little bit of traffic noise in the night, but nothing too major.

This hotel is on the river side approximately 15mins walk from the old town and beach. It is well located if you are travelling out each day as it is easy to get to and from the hotel by road and there is a large car park located beneath the hotel. The rooms are reasonably sized although not large but they are well equipped with nice modern bathrooms. The hotel was very clean and the staff helpful. Breakfast was of reasonable quality with a huge choice on offer. There is a restaurant which is open all day and serves anything from small snacks to tapas and larger meals. There is also a friendly bar with drinks at very reasonable prices. Generally this was a very relaxed place to spend a few days.

This hotel is not more than average. Maybe you should go their for a business trip and not for leisure. Unfortunately, the rooms were not very clean and the overall atmosphere is not welcoming. There is no cosiness and the standard rooms are quite small. At least the breakfast was very good.
