Holiday Inn San Salvador3.0 out of 5.0

It's a Holiday Inn, don't expect more. Fortunately, it's a pretty good Holiday Inn. Room was clean. Breakfast was consistently good and varied from day to day. Check out was painfully slow, but Carlos got it done eventually. Close to the US Embassy, otherwise the neighborhood isn't anything to write home about.
Spent one night here. Basic accommodations. Good business hotel with bar. I can see this being a fairly nice and acceptable family hotel as well. Only downside for me was the location. There are restaurants close by which is a plus.I found the building clean and modern. No luxury but comfortable and safe. I would return.
As always the IHG hotels give an excellent service to their guests. The Holiday Inn in San Salvador was no exception. Located in a quiet area of the city, it is very convenient to go to different areas. The rooms are comfortable and spacious and the service of the staff is very good.
Service is superb, since everyone from front desk, to restaurant, room staff, etc goes out of their way to make your stay special. Apart from that, this is the usual Holiday Inn that you are going to get in any other city. Great for business and short stays, a little outdated and corporate for pretty much anything else.
It is very nice at our Room Pool Side. It's on the Ground Level a few yards from the pool so it made it very easy for me to get some Sun and Water Theropy ! There were a lot of Handicap Parking and Valet also . Service there is excellent all 'round!
I was about to give this hotel an "Excellent" review, but they decided they did not want one. Rooms were good (, please, just get rid of the outdated clock/radio), food was great with a different buffet every night, service was the usual excellent Salvadorian superb service (I mean waiters, room staff, front desk, etc.). Ok, so far so good. Then comes management... If having a noisy event right out the windows of half of the guests is more important than our rest after a busy work they, please let us know, there are plenty of other hotels in the area. Either the guest rest is number one or it is not. Amazing personnel giving their best, being friendly, helpful, until someone in management decides it is OK to sell an event in the guests ears. As unfortunate as it sounds, a devastaging earthquake in Mexico, as it was felt in El Salvador, made the party stop, and we were able to sleep. Sales from this hotel deserves a "Terrible" rating from all guests. The hotel itself and the employees deserve better management.
It was a nice experience. I went with my family and we have a good time. The service was great. We went to a party inside the hotel and it was really good. Food was great ant the party and at breakfast, everything was delicious.
The room was very clean and plenty of space for a two week Business stay. The Desk Staff speaks English very well. Some of the restaurant staff speak English. The hotel restaurant and bar serves some very good meals and they are very affordable. The internet was a bit slow but it is complimentary.
We stayed for a week here with a large group and enjoyed it. Air conditioner works great, clean rooms, great water pressure in the shower, tons of tv channels for unwinding at night (several in English) and great wifi. The food for breakfast was great with a buffet but also an outdoor chef doing omelets and papusas - the coffee is great too. There's also a Starbucks right across the street with other dining options as well. My only complaint is the elevators are super slow so just be prepared to be patient.
This Holiday Inn has had some major mileage to it. The bathroom is dark and has the design of a hospital institution. Plumping fixtures, sink, toilet, tub lasted from the 80s. Water pressure was good though and plenty of hot water. Housekeeping staff has done a great job keeping the place clean. However, I wake up several mornings finding roaches in the sink and bathroom area - see pictures. The hotel gets crowded on the weekend with wedding and other parties, generating a lot of noise late into the night. Making it worse, the lobby area opens all the way up to the top floor letting all that noise go up to each floor and down all the hallways. Pretty bad design I think. There was one window missing its glass in the workout room letting in all that heat, humidity, dust and diesel exhaust from the street. Wifi was good. Food was just okay and for the price I would recommend eating at the many restaurants right outside of the hotel instead. Bed and pillows were comfortable for my 10 day stay. Bath towels were a bit thin and old. AC was working properly. For the same rate, I would recommend staying at new hotels by other brands not far down the street by the mall. My colleagues mentioned that breakfast was even included those chains whereas my stay at this Holiday Inn did not include breakfast.
