We stayed at Solemates over Halloween and had a fabulous experience! The house was beautiful, clean, and spacious. The kitchen was well stocked and the amenities were great. From the moment we landed, we were taken care of. Upon reaching the house, there was a full spread of food awaiting us. The fishing and snorkeling excursions were so good. The real highlight of the trip was Doris and her sister, Lily, who did all the cooking. The food was outstanding! Our favorites were the coconut curry lobster, ceviche, and conch fritters. Doris is absolutely irreplaceable. She made sure everything was top notch and special for us. She and Lily even taught me how to cook traditional Belizean dishes. I am recommending Solemates to all my friends.

The house was beautiful decorated, spacious and well equipped. The cooks Doris and Lily were amazing! They made our stay! They cooked anything we asked for-even made baby plates ( Mickey Mouse pancakes) for our toddlers. Golf carts were a big hit to tour around the island and fish while others scuba dive. Unfortunately the sargassum/bugs were present but we were able to kayak beyond out to the reef. The pool was a huge hit and esp safe for the little ones with the fence surround. I have no suggestions for improvement as it was just perfect for our multigenerational family vacation

We truly enjoyed our stay at the Solmates property. We were treated like family and everything was amazing. Doris and the staff were amazing and made the stay so much more fun! Oh and did I mention the food??? OMG it was awesome! Every meal was delicious! Doris even cooked gluten free options for a couple of our group! Overall 12/10!

We loved our stay at Solmate. The property was as advertised. Beautiful grounds and views of the water. The reef was very close and we snorkled often. We were met by staff with a wonderful spread of delicious snacks, fruit and refreshing coconut milk drink. Our cooks were exceptional! Everything was great. Would definitely recommend and would book again.

The home and grounds were beautiful! Mrs. Doris was amazing! She fed us and took care of any thing that came up. The seaweed was a bit of a problem but that was certainly not their fault! We went to Secret Beach several days, very nice down there! It was a great trip. But be aware the property is about 45 minutes out of town!

Family trip to Paradise!!!

What can we say, It exceeded ALL of our expectations in every way! Casa de Playa Solmate is one of our very best vacation get aways ever! The property is exceptional and just the right floor plan for our family group of seven adults. The location was private, just far away enough form the bustle of San Pedro and yet close enough by one of the properties golf catrs for a morning or after

Perfect vacation destination

I cannot say enough good things about our stay as Casa del Playa / Solmate properties. I went for my 40th and my mom’s 60th birthdays and it was just perfect. The customer service of the whole staff was top notch. Doris goes above and beyond - if she’s able to help make your stay better in any way; she will do it. Her skills in the kitchen are so impressive but we also loved having her around and talking to her every day. Hill, Emilio, and all of the guys were part of what made this trip so amazing. I would love to make this happen annually if at all possible. Long story short - If you are looking for a little slice of heaven away from the hustle of San Pedro, this is it.

Sol Paradise

We have found that properties often do not live up to the review hype. The Solmates house exceeded our expectations in every way. The house was clean and well maintained, the property spectacular, and the staff simply amazing. Chef Doris cooked meals to our liking that were all excellent and ensured our every need was taken care of. Hosts Pam and Bob stopped by to say hi and ensure we had everything we needed, but gave the house fully to ourselves. It was an incredible experience for us and our adult children creating memories for a lifetime. We cannot recommend this experience highly enough and definitely have it on our list to do again!

Wedding trip

We came to San Pedro for wedding. The event was on the South end of the island; Doris Hill and Barney was so great getting us there and back. They made it so easy with no stress. Doris was so amazing! She totally took the best care of us. Her meals were excellent. We felt like we were at a 5 star resort. We could not of asked for a better team. So well organized and the property was beautiful. Our host Pam was so easy to communicate with. We just love our time there. Wonderful experience we cannot thank you all enough.

Great Getaway

Great stay, great place, great people. Close enough to town to be accessable, but a bit of a drive. Hill's activities were top notch. Doris cooking was superb. Can't say enough about how well everything was taken care of. Definitely coming back to this one.

Remote beach house

This property is very special -- but it is not for everybody. The house is very comfortable and the location beautiful but very remote and isolated. Doris, the cook and housekeeper, is very accessible and an excellent cook --- she prepares all the meals. However, we did take the golf cart (extra weekly expense) to the pizza bar about 15 minutes away for lunch one day. Because you cannot swim off the beach (too shallow) you must arrange excursions by boat and pick up is at your private dock for snorkeling and diving. The excursions are costly (think several thousand dollars if you like to dive and snorkel).We were a three generation family of 6 including seniors in their 80's. We enjoyed our vacation but getting to San Pedro was arduous and costly for our family.I would highly recommend the property for a 50th birthday or wedding but not for a young family or older couples.

Belize Dat!

Stayed February 14-21, 2024, with 4 couples – an unforgettable experience!Pam, the property owner, communicated wonderfully throughout, answering all our questions and ensuring everything went smoothly from the San Pedro airport pickup to arriving at the property. We opted for a boat transfer with a store stop on the way, and upon arrival, staff greeted us with fresh drinks and appetizers. Doris even decorated the rooms for Valentine’s Day, adding a special touch!The property is impeccably maintained, and the staff reflects the owners’ dedication. They gave us a tour, including their workspace, which we found fascinating (especially as Midwest folks!).Doris, the chef, was exceptional—accommodating and creative, mixing Belizean cuisine into our meals. She was always prompt, shared local knowledge, and enhanced the experience.We loved using the new golf carts to explore and visit Benito’s, the nearby grocery store. Some of us went inland to explore ruins, see howler monkeys, and enjoy cave tubing—all planned seamlessly from the beach with an excellent guide.A highlight was leaving directly from the pier for snorkeling, including swimming with nurse sharks—unforgettable! Having the entire property to ourselves was peaceful, with only a few beach walkers seen in 8 days.The only con was bugs/sand flies at dusk, likely due to the neighboring property not being cleared, but it’s the tropics.I’d absolutely book again—it truly is paradise. Highly recommend!

Family trip to Belize

The property and home was beautiful!Incredible help with anything we needed. Doris was a fabulous cook!It was a long ride into town. Also the water had a lot of garbage in it, no fault of the owners! They cleaned the beach daily!

This property is lovely with many perks like a screen porch, pool, and swing on the dock perfect for reading and chatting. The most beloved part of our stay was the cook and property manager Doris. Everything we hoped for and exceeded expectations!

Belize had been on our visit list for years and we finally made it happen. The owner, Pamela, was great! Easy to communicate with, timely replies, took care of all our details. Doris, on-site chef and “boss” there on property, was outstanding! This was a wonderful personalized vacation property. The beach was clean every day, homemade food was outstanding, all the staff were very personable and we enjoyed all our conversations learning about life in Belize. Excursions were everything we hoped for, snorkeling, scuba, boating, fishing, kayaks, paddle boards, and reef diving. The owners are also rehabbing an old mining town hotel in Colorado, and we’re looking into visiting there now too. There were two families (8 of us) staying in Belize; would highly recommend visiting Belize and staying here for all your experiences.

Beautiful property, great chef

The property was beautiful! The pictures on the listing were pretty accurate. Very clean! Loved the art so much that I bought some. Pool was perfect temperature. The best part of the stay was the chef! The food was very very good and timing was exactly what we agreed on every single time. The Excursions were super easy to plan with Hill.

Best place to stay in San Pedro!

We were referred to this property by other friends who had stayed here in the past. They said there was no where better to stay and they were correct! The entire reservation and check-in process was seamless which made our arrival very pain-free. They handled the airfare to San Pedro and transportation to and from the airport which was a huge help. The entire staff was so friendly and accommodating. The chef, Doris, welcomed us with a buffet and some amazing coconut drinks which started our trip off on the right note. Throughout the week the food was amazing and we were never hungry. The property is a little bit of a drive from town, so would highly recommend renting the golf carts as it would be near impossible to get to town otherwise. I cannot say enough great things about the property and staff. If you are looking for somewhere to stay on San Pedro this is the place to book!

Solmate is an incredible home with top class service from Tropic Air bookings, transportation, Doris and team welcome. They took care of every need. Food was a delight prepared with love from Doris. Our UNBELIZEABLE Vacation

We had the most unbelizeable vacation staying at Casa de Playa Solmates. It was exactly as advertised but even more amazing than we imagined. The property was immaculate and the scenery absolutely breathtaking. The only complaint we have is that the days flew by way too fast, and we were not ready to come home. From snorkeling, fishing, soccer, volleyball, kayaking, paddleboarding, visiting Secret Beach, going to the mainland to go cave tubing and to explore the Mayan ruins, going into town for dinner at the Truck Stop, going to the chicken drop, having a massage at the end of the dock and exploring the surrounding areas to unbelievably delicious meals made by Doris and Lily. What a treat it was for me (mom) to not have to worry about cooking which allowed me to fully relax and unwind. They spoiled us each day with homemade meals that were absolutely fabulous. One of our most favorite parts of our trip to Belize were the people we met. Doris, Lily, Barney, Sebastian, Emilio, Walter, Hill....they work hard and go above and beyond every single day to make sure that we were having the most relaxing and enjoyable vacation. They are absolutely amazing, and we will cherish all the memories we made with them. It was definitely hard to say goodbye. Thank you to Pam and Bob for creating a hidden gem for others to enjoy. We will never forget our time spent there and look forward to one day when we have the opportunity to return.
