The food is well presented but aside from the salads extremely poor and at times inedible. Another couple even tried to give us part of an appetizer they had ordered to save us from wasting our money as they found it looked good on the menu but inedible. We have been to this property multiple times and it is one of the highlights to a trip to Costa Rica - including excellent massages, gorgeous wildlife, amazing rooms, overall a truly outstanding property. If you wrap your mind around the likelyhood that you will be disappointed by the food, certainly not fare you would expect at a 5 star hotel, then you will otherwise love the experience of being at Peace Lodge.

We went to Costa Rica and stayed at 4 different hotels, all but 1 were 5 starts. Peace Lodge was hands down, the most incredible hotel we've stayed at. The room was PHENOMENAL- so beautiful, comfortable, and just had so many magical touches. I loved the lighting options, the fireplace, the super thought-out and full mini bar area, the massage table in-room, the tub on the balcony, the fantastic bed- really, just a magical room. The bathroom is huge, and just super well-equipped: waterfall shower, tub, gorgeous design details, and everything about the room was really stunning. The facilities are fantastic- we enjoyed visiting both pools and hot tubs, the incredible views, the tours by John and Michael, as well as the excellent service by Jose and his team. Everyone was kind, helpful, and provided a fantastic experience. I definitely recommend taking the tour. We loved it so much, we have recommended it to family- a great experience in Vara Blanca!

We have just returned from a week long stay at the lodge. The hotel staff was extremely helpful and gracious. Most knew our names after the first day. The grounds and park are very well maintained by kind, informative employees. I found the staff very upfront about charges and taxes from day one. I visited the spa twice and both therapists were top notch. Many of the lodge employees have been there for over 5 years and they genuinely care for those they serve. We took a tour to Hacienda Azul to horseback ride and do the canopy tour, it too was great, with fun informative tour guides. They were very focused on safety and we felt we were in good hands. What you need to consider when booking the Peace Logde is that this is a small, intimate hotel. The guest experience is in the details and personal interactions. The setting is prestine and the care taken to preserve and protect the enviroment is apparent. If you are looking to be entertained non-stop and want 50 menu items this is not that place. It is in the rain forest and it rains daily. You can have as much or as little human interaction as you choose. If you are looking for a place to explore and enjoy the tranquility of the mountains this is your place. The Peace lodge is a very special destination in a beautiful setting.

This was an absolutely amazing stay at a breathtaking location. You can experience a lot of what Costa Rica has to offfer all in one place. The staff is simply the best. I want to give a shout out to Freddy, Andres, Henry and Jefferson. They enhanced our stay greatly. The rooms are amazing. Wait till you see the bathrooms!!! There's a waterfall and rain forest right in there alone! Beautiful vistas of the rain forest from your balcony! While you can visit La Paz Waterfall Gardens without staying at the Peace Lodge, it's a great value to stay there. And they definitely treat their guests with extra special care. With 5 Waterfalls and amazing animal encounters. It's a must-see for anyone flying into San Jose-- located just an hour north. One of the most special places we've ever stayed. I highly recommend for families!

This place was unbelievably gorgeous. Absolutely stunning rooms with everything you could possibly want and more.

My huband and I stayed at Peace lodge for the first night of our honeymoon. This is the most magestic, romantic place we have ever visited. The staff is super helpful and friendly, the wildlife on site is so awesome & the views & waterfalls are breathtaking!!! The food at the dinner restaurant is some of the best we have ever had as well. Our only complaint is that we only booked one night! This place is worth EVERY penny of the price per night. We have already started planning our next trip!

This was a great hotel with beautiful accommodations, great customer service, and so much to do. Even though my daughter and I were there with a 4 year old, and didn’t have a car, we were well entertained and had many personal experiences that we will always treasure. We fed the sloths, toucans, and hummingbirds. We watched the staff feed the wild cats and monkeys. We learned about frogs and toads and snakes. We had newborn butterflies sit on our arms before taking their first flight. We learned about all the stages of the butterflies and saw each stage. We caught rainbow trout. We hiked to 5 different waterfalls. The grounds are extroidinary. Any trip to Costa Rica should include a stay at this hotel.

This is Lodge is beautifull and luxurious. Great for families and romantic getaways alike. This was my families first trip to Costa Rica. Not only did we enjoy the room amenities like two jacuzzis (one indoor & another on our balonly overlooking the rainforest), waterfall shower, fireplace, hammock & more, but the grounds were amazing too. The staff outdid themselves and made us feel VIP the whole time. We had special access to animals, great photo ops & interesting info. We enjoyed feeding the sloths, toucans & macaws. And evan visited the jaguars and other cats in the evening when they were active. Quite specatular seeing the cats at night. The hike to the waterfalls were paved and easy but quite beautiful. The waterfalls were great for my teen photographer son too. The food was also great. Coming from a family a picky and spoiled foodies that says a lot.,We highly recommended the Peace Lodge and La Paz Waterfall & Gardens. A trip you will never forget.

We stayed at the Peace Lodge on our last night in Costa Rica since it is only an hour from the San Jose Airport. What a wonderful place to stay to end our trip. The staff was incredibly nice and helpful, we were upgraded to a deluxe room which was absolutely beautiful and the grounds, hiking trails, and waterfalls were amazing. Our room has its own waterfall, two hot tubs (one outside on the private balcony overlooking the the beautiful landscape) and a great fire place. On our balcony we watched the clouds and mist roll by. We also had our own hummingbird feeder which attracted beautiful humming birds.

My wife and I were extremely excited to go here for our anniversary. We spent two nights there and wished we had more time to enjoy all of the activities that they had on site. We felt a little rushed trying to fit them all in, in a two day time frame. Every thing there is extemly beautiful and better than the pictures show.

We spent hours in with the animals, and. Planned our das around the schedule for feedings which made for a once in a lifetime experience. The room, which they upgraded was first rate, yet the lodge still had a casual vibe that made for a relaxing visit. My 13 year old son summed it best with, "well Mom, I'm kind of mad at you, because nothing will ever be as good as this hotel, and it's kind of ruined everything else".

I had two nights at the Peace Lodge. It is a remarkable place. The rooms are very nice, and truly unique. I've stayed at a lot of places both for work and leisure and no rooms are like these. The staff is extremely helpful and the grounds have an amazing amount to offer ranging from very nice enclosed structures for Toucans, Macaws, Butterflies, monkeys, and cats (puma, jaguar, oselot, etc), a recreated old fashioned Costa Rican house and farm, a trout pond that you can fish, and, finally, to some amazing waterfalls. All very convenient. A great getaway, all about 1 hr to 1 hr 15 minutes from the airport (SJO).

Superb staff. Accommodations were even more luxurious than the pictures showed. Having the LaPaz Waterfall Gardens and animal center adjacent to the property was amazing. Highly recommend this resort! Totally enjoyed our stay!!!

The La Paz Waterfall Gardens and Peace Lodge is the most beautiful and awe-inspiring hotel we have ever stayed at. Each individual part—the stunning rooms, the amazing and over-the-top bathroom, the aviary, the toucans, the hummingbird garden, the Casita, the waterfalls, etc.—would each make this a unique and wonderful place to visit in Costa Rica. But, to combine them all in one place, along with the fantastic staff, makes this an unforgettable experience that has to be seen to be believed. It exceeded our expectations in every way, and truly made our trip to Costa Rica the trip of a lifetime. We will undoubtedly be back. From now on, every hotel that we stay at will be judged by the quality and standard set by the La Paz Waterfall Gardens and Peace Lodge. The rooms, especially the bathrooms, will astound you. The hummingbird garden will change your life. The butterflies and frogs are so incredibly neat and beautiful. The jungle cats are wonderful, and their exhibits are nicer than most zoos in the USA. The waterfall trails would me amazing on their own, even if they didn't include the most incredible waterfalls you've ever seen. And the hotel staff are absolutely top-notch--they could not be more friendly and helpful, and want to make your experience unique--especially Sylvia with the hummingbirds and John with the frogs!!

Everyone there is very friendly, especially Daniel the bartener was super nice all the time and even knew are names well. Roy the manager was nice also, the receptionis freddy was nice and also amanda the weeding coordinator made our ceremony & dinner excellent. John was also nice guy he took us to the volcano and coffe tour and to try some good food. Jefferson gave us a good tour around the hotel and showed us the nice waterfalls and animals they had. Jose took us fishing in the lake they had and then we were able to get the fish we caught, cooked for dinner.

Had an amazing time staying here. So many things to do and things to see. Food at restaurants on site are also fantastic.

We had an amazing time at the Peace Lodge. There is nothing I could complain about. Everything was perfect: the complimentary massages, the attentiveness of the staff, the fruit infused water at the pool, the fluffy robes, the waterfall in our bathroom, the design of the room, the fireplace, the golf cart rides, eating the trout the kids caught for lunch, feeding the hummingbirds & toucans, hiking to the waterfalls in the morning with no one else there, the hottub at the trout café, the café at the end of the waterfall hike with delicious desserts, the privacy and remote fell of it all, the clouds that came up to our balcony, the beautiful views, the animals, the customer service, and I could go on and on. We loved it and can't wait to check out their sister property at Arenal.

booked for the evening before our flight out of San jose to LAX. Could have definitely stayed a few days as it was a totally cool vibe up in the mountains

My husband and I spent our last night in Costa Rica at the Peace Lodge. The setting is beautiful, the staff were friendly, and the room truly luxurious. Highly recommended!

It is a welcomed first night or two especially if you are arriving into Costa Rica from the San Jose Airport

20 min from Poas Volcano National Park Vara Blanca Heredia
