Our jungle oasis

The Maya Mountain Lodge was our jungle oasis. It is a two minute drive from Santa Elena and less than 10 minutes from San ignacio. We stayed in Agouti which had a good sized bedroom with a 2 person table, bathroom and a kitchen in the porch area. The kitchen was set up with a microwave , toaster, fridge, coffee maker, kettle, gas stove, and oven. We cooked several meals there which is always a welcome change from eating out all the time. We also had our own outdoor area with a picnic table and hammock. The grounds were a tropical arboretum with a lovely variety of plantings. We paid a nominal fee for a bird walk around the property. Levi helped us see 24 species including stunners like the collared aracari and the keel billed Toucan. The staff was very helpful helping us schedule outings, do our laundry ($10 USD) or recommend a pizza place. The pool area seemed fine but needed better seating. One night a concert in town was so loud that it kept us up until 3 AM - not the Lodge's fault exactly. Otherwise it was very quiet and restful.

Welcome to the Garden of Eden! This jungle lodge felt so lush and the grounds were absolutely relaxing and peaceful. Definitely an oasis. The shared patios, decks, and pool area were a highlight with gorgeous surroundings, bird sounds, and hammocks galore. Cesar was amazing in helping me book tours weeks before our trip, and coordinating shuttles, airport transfers, taxis, and pretty much everything we could have desired--our own travel agent with such quick response times! So grateful for him! Even when one of our tours was cancelled last minute due to a ferry malfunction, Cesar coordinated an impromptu cooking class that ended up being of of my favorite parts of the trip. Our only complaint was that the beds were quite hard, but otherwise, a perfect place!

Lovely property and excellent staff. They were extremely helpful with anything we needed. The rooms/huts were really cute and cozy. We would have liked a bigger bed but that’s the only thing I’d change.

Loved it!

The front desk was extra helpful in arranging transportation to outings and to the airport. They are very service oriented. The lodge is definitely a unique place of cabins in a jungle atmosphere with beautiful plants, but close to town. The 5 of us stayed in a 3BR family cabin. Two of us took advantage of having massages in their cute little spa, which was great. We ate dinner and most breakfasts at their little restaurant. Very good food.

Amazing spot close to town but far enough into the jungle to have a quiet getaway. Cesar helped us start to finish and ensured we had an amazing stay. The restaurant on site was fantastic and highly recommended. Really can’t recommend this place enough, if I’m ever back in this area of Belize, I will not hesitate to stay here again.

Great Service

If you stay here, have then arrange your tours. I used another service that wouldn't pick me up at the hotel. However, they called and got them changed for me. They provided excellent service. The hotel is outside of town so if you are looking for a quiet place located in the trees then I would highly recommend it.

Our family of four stayed in the family house and absolutely loved it. The staff was so friendly and attentive to our needs. The place was clean and the air conditioning was cool and there was space for all of us. We loved how they let us eat any fruit we found on the trees and on the surroundings. We found a coconut and they cracked it open for us too. It was so close to the town of San Ignacio as well. We would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a cute and quiet place in the jungle with the most friendly staff

Wonderful Lodge, Lovely People

This lodge was amazing, the room was clean and big, the whole site was gorgeous with so many huge plants and trees! There is also a small hike you can do around the lodge. The pool is great and the set up around it is really peaceful. The staff is really nice and so helpful. They gave us a map to walk downtown, which is 15-20 mins by foot. We were 3 girls and never got worried about walking around. We took a cab to come back to the lodge at night since it’s on top of a hill and it gets dark at 6:30 there. The taxi fare was pretty cheap, around 10-15 BZE (you need to ask the driver for the price and negotiate before you get in the taxi). Also the clerk at the front desk of the lodge booked all the activities we did during our stay. The company they suggested was very good. We did Actun Tunichill on the first day, Xunantunich and Nohoch Che’en (highlight of our trip) on the second day and Caracol with the Rio pools on our last day. The lodge also has a cute little restaurant that is managed by a separate group of employees. You can book the restaurant with the reception and choose your meal in advance so when you get to your table it’s almost ready and you don’t have to wait. This was very useful especially on the mornings when we had to leave early for our daily activities. We really enjoyed exploring San Ignacio, but it was also great to have a cool place to hang after our day. Would 100% recommend The Maya Mountains Lodge !

The property is beautifully maintained and the staff are extremely helpful and friendly. It's a little farther out of the "city centre" but taxis are easy and cheap. The rooms were very clean, excellent water pressure, pool was clean and the onsite meals were delicious and authentic. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Wonderful resort and great service; it was truly enjoyable. Jina, Levi and Cesar were great, as well as Tio and his wife at the restaurant. Thanks! There was an error with our reservation through the third party, but they were quick to fix it with no issues. Also, they assisted us and booked a tour for one day to Flores, Guatemala that went exceptionally well. Totally recommend this resort when you’re in the area! Cheers and thanks again for hosting us.
