This beautiful hotel has great facilities to really feel comfortable. In a luxury setting, with beautiful pools and dining outside in an impressive atmosphere. We sure will go back in the near future.
The hotel is in a lovely location and we had pros and cons with our comfort room. Pro: own private terrace. Con: on street, constant pipe hum from outside of the building, aircon is rather loud and the bathtub in dire need of replacement due to marks, position of shower (middle) and a lot of rust. So can't give the room 5 stars at all. I normally would complain and contemplated it but we were too tired on arrival. Housekeeping were good and it was clean which is important. Bed was comfortable enough. The whole hotel complex has a certain step back in time charm. Yes, some things need renovation. Yes, it's a series of corridors... can get confusing. Maybe more signs would help. The spa massages we had were great. The staff overall are nice, special mention of Fabio in the bar and Tomasso at dinner. Food was mostly very good but yes, pricey and excellent wines. The angus steak off the grill is simply superb! Breakfast is good (omelettes were great) but they need a new toaster! The screech is awful. There is ample parking and a lovely romanesque remains at the back with nice views...A major drawback are the families and kids. Well-behaved kids are one thing but parents letting toddlers do what they want at dinner is not acceptable! Not relaxing or fitting the thermal spa ambience.
Lovely building, great thermal bath's nice grounds friendly attentive staff , hopefully will be able to revisit sometime
This property has great potential, could be the next Splendido (Portofino) or Villa D'Este (Lake Como) if they tried to be. However, for now, you will find much better value for money elsewhere. You might pay more but the experience will be much better. So what needs to be changed: - the spa is spread over 3 locations in the hotel and has no manicure and pedicure. The treatment rooms are not inviting. In fact I felt like I would avoid a treatment there. - all the bath linens are worn. Also no face washers. When we asked for extra towels we could not get them. - the rooms are a reasonable size but really need a renovation, in fact that goes for the hotel overall. - the layout of the hotel has you going up (or down) then across then down (or up) - the hallways are dark, particularly as the lights do not stay on - the breakfast that is included is poor. Order fresh eggs!!! Don't go for the scrambled...I thought perhaps they were made from powder, the orange juice was watery and the pastries were burned. The tables are crowded in when the room was never full. Last but by no means least, the service is extremely slow and inattentive. Often there were no people in the breakfast room at all, so how does a person get a coffee. - the wifi service is spotty - there is no bottled water included with the rooms - variable mini bar. Literally different contents by room.
We came here for our honeymoon, and it didn't not disappoint. If you like, great wine, olives picked from the hotel grounds, natural spring spas, great food and absolute peace.. .then this is the hotel for you.
Incredible spas, and lovely staff. We stayed here a week and I've never been more relaxed. Easy to get to Pisa and Lucca for day trips to break up your time, but you won't want to spend long away from the stunning hotel.
Very comfortable bedroom if you turn off air conditioner, which is too noisy. Note there were more than 30º during the day. Beautiful architecture building. Nice food. The people were always available and nice. I did not enjoyed the warm outside pool, i would prefer to be normal temperature as the weather was too warm already. I don't particularly like to see people in robe in corridors and places all over the hotel. It does not look good to me, for instance, to be having lunch with friends on the beautiful terrace with people in robe at the next table.
This place is a hidden gem--well, not exactly hidden--close to the local rail line to Lucca and Pisa. The staff is simply outstanding--helpful and friendly. The spa treatments are as good as I have had in the US and many are better. The spa staff really attempts to fit the treatments to the person. It was a terrific 4 days of pure relaxation after an active hiking, biking, walking tour of Tuscany.
We had the most amazing and relaxing stay at this historical hotel resort spa! Our room was the best suite we ever had. We have been to so many hotels and spas but this place is really top notch specially for someone looking for relaxation, hotel quality, arts, history, healing and family time. The staff were super polite and helpful, the thermal pools are naturally hot at 38C and some has lower temperature whic are safe for our kid. The food is delicious and I am impress that they still use real silver cutleries and porcelain utensils. It is what it is claiming about, a 5 star hotel💫,providing everything you would need. The hotel is used to be the Grand Duke of Tuscany's palace so it is has a lot of al fresco on its ceilings, marbled corners and tables, a cozy garden, beautiful ancient architectural designs esp. at the hotel bar. Everything is just magical and grand. Lastly, for transportation, it is so accessible by train from Florence Italy station to Pisa, one can grab a Taxi from Pisa Station to the hotel which costs 20€ or take two trains for 45 mins and do a 5 minute walk when you reach Pisa. We are actually planning to go back very soon!
We stayed at the Bagni di Pisa for 3 nights at the start of a tour of Tuscany and wanted a base close to Pisa airport as we were arriving in the evening. A charming traditional Hotel set in the sleepy town of San Giuliano Terme it fitted the bill perfectly as there were none of the problems associated with parking in the centro storico of the larger Italian cities, so a great base to explore Pisa, Lucca and the coast around Viareggio. We loved our room with quirky mezzanine siting area reached by a spiral staircase and the bathroom was spacious with a separate shower and very well designed. We ate breakfast at the Hotel, and had dinner there twice - they kindly made us great mushroom risotto very late on the evening we arrived - and thought the food was very good as was the service. They have a serious spa with a full range of treatments and thermal pools - very soothing at the end of a day sightseeing. It was a very relaxing start to our visit of this lovely area.
