I've previously been to Villa del Conde, and then been going to Costa Meloneras for about 9 or 10 years.. so decided to try Baobab for first time! All the comments about the stunning architecture, the trees and tropical plants, the African 'ambience' - its all true. A truly unusual, unique and stunning experience. As a single traveller, safety is hugely important to me, and along with the other 2 Lopesan's I have stayed at, again, the Baobab feels safe and accommodating for single travellers. I quickly realised on day 2 that the main pools have a lot of children (very young in some cases) and lots of noise, inflatables and so on. All to be expected in this style of hotel. So my discovery of the 'quiet' pool was a dream, and I spent every day there after that. No inflatables allowed, lol. As there was no music, bar etc - it was less interesting to kids, so tended to be just adults at that pool. And the drinks were waiter-served so even better! So glad I realised I could get to it by walking through the hotel (rather than the hot sun) - and going through the most stunning growing bamboo corridor, and the pools of turtles. If you don't find the bamboo and the turtles you're in the wrong direction! And loads of spare beds all day! I was getting there about 11.30 every day and could have my pick of a bed in sun or shade. Bliss! I ate every meal morning and night outside on the lovely wooden decked terrace. Perfect. The staff out there were just great, recognised you after a couple of days, and they even could recall my wine choice without prompting! My only criticism food-wise (compared to Costa Meloneras) was a lot of the meat at dinner was very fatty. Lots of gristle. Unsure why, or if I was unlucky, or if Baobab buy different cuts of meat to Costa Meloneras - but there was a noticeable difference since my last visit to LCM in 2017. But I could have got more or picked different choices if I'd wanted so not a significant problem. And there is a lot of choice! I think I saw smoked salmon and Cava at every breakfast, and huge King Prawns at every dinner - how can you complain? Yes, the hotel is huge, and there will be areas that are a far distance from the main restaurant/bar areas (by the quiet pools for instance) - so if been nearer to the restaurants and reception is important - request it! It really is that simple. If you want a kettle - ask for it! I sent a request prior to my stay requesting the position of my room, and that I wanted a kettle. And on arrival the kettle was waiting, and the room was in perfect location! So really, you just need to communicate with them and tell them your preferences... In keeping with previous years, I had a full Spa day at the Collalium Spa in the LCM - they can charge to your room at Baobab - so just take your room card. I love that Spa (as other reviews will have mentioned) and once again spent my birthday in there. The menthol steam room and floatation pool are the best anywhere! All for 45 euros and an exclusive pool and jet pool area outside.. Lush. I love the Meloneras resort and love the Lopesan brand.. so Im a happy customer once again... Just need to decide which of the 3 hotels I return to next year!
We loved our stay at the Lopesan Baobab, we arrived late, check in was quick and we were offered a free welcome drink (I went for the sparkling wine and it was gorgeous). We were given info about the hotel and a map, the hotel is big! Our room was lovely, we just had a standard room and it exceeded our expectations, we loved the bathroom layout, bath was huge! Balcony was a good size, we had room service one night and they set it up on the balcony with a proper table for us. We never had a problem getting a sun lounger, we tended to go out in the morning and came back to the pool in the afternoon and there was always a bed. Food was very good for all inclusive, probably one of the best all inclusive buffets I have ever been to, every night was a different theme and there was always 2 stations that they were cooking fresh meat. We didn’t try any of the restaurants that you had to pay extra for, we didn’t feel we needed to and if we wanted something different we went down to the boulevard in the town for a meal, very nice down there! Drinks are very reasonable priced, cocktails were about €6. Overall we had an amazing time and didn’t want to come home! Our only criticism would be that our room was quite far from the lobby and restaurant, we were in 2039 but it’s a big hotel and we soon found a way around and shortcuts. Not the end of the world. Would highly recommend this hotel and we both have very high standards. Enjoy :) :)
Just back from 10 days at the Lopesan Baobab Hotel and highly recommend it, from checkin offering a glass of cava to checkout offering us a courtesy room so we could make the most of our last day. The main restaurants were buffet style but the standard of food and variety was very good. Need to note that long trousers are a requirement for men at dinner and it is enforced. The complex is huge and can be a bit confusing but with signage everywhere you soon get to grips with it. We found the staff very helpful. The African theme is very tastefully done and the interior design is excellent. The only slight negative is, although it states you can’t reserve sun beds, people still were and we saw a number of reserved beds not occupied for most of the day. I would highly recommend this hotel and would certainly go back.
The Lopesan Baobab Resort is one of the most impressive resorts I’ve ever come across. The African theme and outstanding architecture makes every part of the hotel a wonderful place to be. The pool areas are brilliant, the staff are all so helpful and kind and speak a variety of languages perfectly. All of the grounds and buildings are completely spotless, and constantly being cleaned. All facilities you could want are available. The hotels most attractive feature is its decor and aesthetic, however this does at some points mean it is a bit dark. There are areas of minimal lighting which can be a bit strange. But this is mainly part of the charm of the building and is part of the character. Would recommend to anyone.
We rocked up one day late as we got the dates mixed up. Devastated as we were only spending one night we approached the receptionist and explained the situation. They let us change the date, Gabe is a free upgrade with a private pool as well as a late check out! Thank you Baobab! As new parents of a baby boy we got to enjoy the one night escape,as we were so exited about, after all! Excellent service, cleanliness and breakfast. We will be back!
A beautiful place to stay , great service the only criticism I have is the lighting which is low on the stairs and bathroom mirrors making it difficult to see at times. Fantastic food but no real vegetarian options , limiting me to pasta with cheese or pizza and salad for dinner most evenings.
4th year staying here - rang the hotel to ask about something we weren't particularly happy with for our stay coming up In December. Got told "if you dont like it go somewhere else" hardly screams excellent customer service and rewarding loyal customers
Was here last month on a family ( 11 people) holiday and had a fab time but that was due to the people not the place. I didn't ( and wouldn't have) chosen this place as I dont normally do big hotels, however as there was 11of us inc 4 children on a celebratory holiday I went with the group choice. So bearing that in mind I will try to be fair with my comments. The hotel has an impressive entrance and the photo on the internet certainly gives the wow factor but inside this hotel is dark and dingy and frankly a bit "depressing". I get the decor / theme but it serves to cover up the grubby bits and the areas that are in need of renovation and I didnt find it pleasant at all. I was very excited about being in a 5 star hotel and was utterly disappointed in that it never felt like that. Very overpriced I felt. Have been in much better 3 or 4 star places. Members of our party staying in 4 days cancelled and moved to a 4 star beach hotel for a third of the price. The bedrooms were dull , dim and the only place to do hair or make up was the bathroom. We had issues with leaks on first day and mistakes on rooms but they were dealt with quickly and a bottle of bubbly and chocs arrived from tui, fair enough. The room cleaning wasnt up to standard, (our glasses were never changed in a week) but they probably get away with it cos the room is so dark . 5 star hotels should provide tea/ coffee facilities and FREE bottled water. The dining experience was good, staff ok but not over friendly. The food was fairly good and varied but again , so dark in there, not as pleasant as it could have been. One of our party has sight problems and for that person there was potential hazards but even I couldnt read the food info. From the other side of the road the hotel looks like a prison, no wonder the website has so few pictures. On a positive note the pools / bathing areas were brilliant. The flowers and plants exotic and beautiful. Yes theres the issue of sunbed hogging but you get round it and they might just as well forget putting notes on the sunbeds, everyone just bins them. Entertainment was good, staff worked hard in the kids clubs too, the cirque du soleil a bonus, however the surrounding area in walking distance isnt very interesting. All things considered, personally i would never go back here.
If you like African style architecture you would like this hotel. A bit dark in rooms and corridors. Food choice is very good. The best things are swimming pools and crazy river especially. Gardens are beautiful as well.
Stayed at this hotel ten times over the 9 years the hotel has been built. The food has gone downhill since last year. It’s great for families the entertainment staff are amazing, lots to do for children. The Reception staff do go out off there way to help you and are friendly. Rooms in need off Refurbishment. We had several issues which where reported to guest relations and they tried to sort them out. Hopefully when the refurbishment is done they sort the leaking shower that floods the bathroom. The sun beds are also an issue, you need to be down for a sunbed for 7.30 am if you want one and wait till 10.30 has the hotel has a new policy or you lose it.
