My husband and I had our wedding at Alisei in July and the entire experience was absolutely perfect. My husband and I live in New York but we chose to get married in DR because many of his family and friends live there. We chose Alisei because we had spent Christmas on the same beach the previous year, and it was a very nice, yet affordable option for our guests. There were 105 guests at our wedding who traveled from Santo Domingo and various parts of the US. The staff at Alisei were very helpful with arranging accommodations and transport for our guests, most of whom stayed at the hotel. The hotel and area had something to offer everyone, from our single guests to our family traveling with small children, I didn't once hear a complaint from anyone. Everyone had an incredible time staying at Alisei, and had wonderful things to say about it. We worked with their wedding planner Francesca and event coordinator Alice to plan the wedding, and we only met with them in person once, about five months before the wedding. The rest of our communication with them was online, and despite our separation they handled everything beautifully. They were always very responsive to our questions and requests, were extremely detail-oriented and attentive to our personal tastes. It wasn't until the day before the wedding that we learned that Francesca was in her third trimester of pregnancy, which was incredible considering how hard she'd been working to plan our wedding. The ceremony was perfect, and the beach in front of the hotel was a beautiful setting for it. The reception in the hotel's restaurant was immaculate, and every detail was on par with what we envisioned. The hotel and restaurant staff were so hardworking and kind (special thanks to Enzo, Jeremy, Celia and José!) and we truly enjoyed getting to know everyone. The owners (a husband and wife team) were also present throughout the whole process, consistently checking in to see that we were enjoying the experience. All in all it was an unforgettable experience, and I honestly can't think of a single thing that I would have changed. I highly recommend Alisei to those looking to plan a wedding or other event, or to anyone wanting to vacation in Terrenas!
We stayed for 4 nights and really enjoyed it. Our allotted room on the ground floor was underwhelming but we asked if there was an alternate available with better views and they moved us to a second floor apartment which was great. In fact, this was typical of the staff, who were all kind, friendly and helpful. My wife grew up in the DR but had not been back for many years and she loved being able to order tostones (excellent), queso fritos, and a few other tastes of home that were not on the menu but the staff were very happy to provide. Food at the Baraonda restaurant was pretty good and we enjoyed the drinks and hospitality at the bar. Apartments are well laid out with a kitchenette, A/C in bedrooms and a nice balcony. Pool is small but adequate and the beach (ok but not the best the DR has to offer) is just over the road. It's not 5 star luxury, but a solid 4 stars, at a fair price. Recommended.
I've been there a few years ago and I have been really nice surprised. Excellent place friendly staff... Las terrenas is the place with soul and this place is making the staying even more pleasant... Great memories and people
I spent 3 nights for my son's wedding. All went EXTREMELY well. The rooms are adequate for a beachfront hotel with full kitchen, Wifi, AC and potable water dispenser. Room was ample and with a good bed. The hotel took care of all the wedding arrangements. The scenario for the wedding on the beach was beautiful and simple. The dinner for over 100 people was excellent: it was a buffet type... EXCEPT that the buffet with four main courses and sides paraded through the tables: pork, meat, fish, seafood. Something that stood out was the always present smile and great attitude in all waiters and managers... The pool and gardens were always clean and well taken care of. In general: you get the picture: and enchanting visit well worth remembering. Daily breakfast was generous and varied. In all: thanks to Alice and all the staff that did the most wonderful job.
We visited the Baraonda Restaurant numerous times during our month long visit in Las Terrenas. The food was exceptional and service from the staff was superior to most places we frequented here. Jeremy Stokes went above and beyond to make our stay not only at the restaurant, but in Samana, a vacation to never forget. We had issues with our rented villa and he contacted his people to provide advice and options for us since most people didn't speak English and got our issues mostly solved and made us feel better! As a matter of fact, we left our luxury villa the last two nights and booked at the Alisei Resort. They were ultra-accommodating for us! It was low season so we were able to check-in early, get an extremely late check out (out plane didn't leave until 8:45pm) and we had our cat with us, all of which was no problem for the resort. So a HUGE thank-you goes out to all the staff there, resort and restaurant, especially Jeremy Stokes, for making our stay fun, peaceful and unforgettable.
The most beautiful garden on the peninsula, very friendly staff, swim up bar pool, quiet private rooms, and for us the restaurant was very very good. For breakfast the buffet is the best value anywhere around. We went every morning, next the meals for dinner are very good. Don't be fooled by the flashy lights of the spots down the beach, the food is as good if not better than some of the "scene" spots in LT. We ate at the most expensive places in LT and had amazing meals at Alisei as well for half the price and fuss. If you are going to stay at a hotel in Samana, its hard to beat the access to Las Ballenas (the best quiet and relaxing beach in LT IMHO), the food, pool, food and location of Hotel Alisei! We will be back!
Yet again a wonderful trip. The staff are excellent helpful and friendly. The swim up bar a treat. Buffet breakfast outstanding. A short walk along the beach to restaurants, cafe and ice cream. Looking forward to visiting next year.
Beautiful location, great food, such nice staff and great units, whatever the size. For a large or small family, or a couple. The grounds are well maintained, the staff so nice, the food amazing. Just wish I could afford it more iften....
This is my second time at the Alisei with the family and we had a great time. Below is a link with my original review that describes the hotel in detail. The hotel/apartment set up works great for families and the location is great. Close enough to town and nearby restaurants, but far away enough from town to avoid the crowds and noise. Since there are no more flights to El Catey from NY, we flew to Santo Domingo and drove to Las Terrenas. We rented from Hertz at the airport and the drive took about 2 hours in a very good road (toll). Easy and convenient drive. There are many flights to Santo Domingo so I was able to flight early on Saturday and leave late on Sunday extending my vacation a bit. My wife went to Yoga classes with Imke every morning and really enjoyed the experience. She cannot wait to go back. We hope to return again next year! https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g259440-d643747-r350894139-Hotel_Alisei-Las_Terrenas_Samana_Province_Dominican_Republic.html#CHECK_RATES_CONT
This was such a great hotel to stay at. Such a good location, only a 10 minute walk from town. The pool was large and fantastic. I loved the room. We got upgraded to a 2 bedroom suite and I can honestly say that the pictures didn't do it justice. Comfy beds, nice kitchen and fab large deck. I took yoga lessons there just about every morning which I loved. The staff was fantastic. Always ready to offer drinks by the pool. Jeremy was a real gem there. He managed the restaurant but he was always around to help with anything we needed.
