I stayed there for just one night. Staff is great, very attentive and nice. The parking on the street is free, and it was quite easy to find a spot. The room was clean, good size and there were also nice ammenites and a robe. There is a restaurant downstairs, good food for a good price, I had dinner and a beer there. I stayed on the 2nd floor, and the wifi was not good in my room, but maybe I was too far from the router. Also, there are a lot of stairs, so, if you're traveling with a lot of bags, or with elderly or children, this is not a good option. The hotel is 10-15 min from the city center (by car).
Under ten minutes walk from the train station, fifteen minutes to the old centre. It is an old building with a quiet atmosphere. The rooms are all different and comfortable : as it is an old building there is the inevitable creaking and less than modern soundproofing, but it was quiet. The reception staff were extremely helpful on several occasions. Breakfast was excellent, with an unusually fine choice of three superb coffees, quality breads, home made jam, and some hot choices.
We very much enjoyed our stay in this hotel. The breakfast was more than excellent. Cava glass included. And salmon. And home made jam. And... The hotel has been decorated with taste. A few minor things could use improvement, like the lighting in the dining area and the rooms, but overall very very good!
Quirky and quaint it is, in an small area renowned for its period, architect designed houses, a fifteen minute walk from the town centre. Yes, the hotel looks a little tired but the owner, Patrick, and the staff are friendly and helpful. The decor is turn of the 19th/20th century with wonderful exterior design in the bricks and tiles and internally beautiful woodwork, furniture and decor. We had room 16 - no lift, so strong muscles needed to take the suitcase upstairs! - the bed was a double tester bed, a four poster, a tight squeeze with a large husband, small dog and small woman sharing it, but very comfortable, the mattress was perfect firmness for us, the pillows were the right amount of filling and firmness as well. The balcony was useful as the weather was warm and we took tea outside with a view of the greenery, a bit of the garden and some buildings, one of which is a school closed for the holidays. The shower was excellent, hot and strong. We had drinks in the bar, I had Japanese cherry tea which was delicious! After our return from dinner we had coffee and brandies with Patrick and discussed his love of Scotch whiskies! He has a huge collection and gives tasting sessions! We ate in town as the restaurant was closed for chefs holidays. Breakfast was continental with some hot dishes, cold meats and cheeses, fresh fruit and yoghurts, bread and pastries, fruit juices and 3 types of coffees! Absolutely delicious, and included in the cost of the room!
A charming old-world hotel in easy walking distance to the center of old Zwolle. Each room has something to charm you. We had a four posster bed. Each room has a nice bathroom and a terry cloth robe for each guest. Breakfast was excellent. There is also a very pleasant outdoor terrace - if the weather permits. The manager recommended Poppe's restaurant in town (a short walk) and it was excellent. We very much enjoyed our short visit to Zwolle.
This hotel has been operating for 25 years with the current family. It has been a Best Western for the last five years, and soon will be a private hotel again. All of the staff here have been wonderful, and willing to accommodate our needs to ensure a pleasant stay. WIFI is free throughout the hotel. We were here for 4 nights in April. This is a quaint building, reminiscent of a country inn. The wood carvings, furniture, etc. throughout the building are interesting. There is a laptop and printer available in the reception area. The lounge is quiet and comfortable, and if you enjoy Scotch Wiskey, the bar here boasts 420 varieties, and offers tasting sessions. We had room three on the first floor (that is the second floor for all us Canadians). There is no elevator and the staircase is twisting as is the case in most Dutch homes. It appears that this hotel was once three separate homes, now joined together to offer about 21 rooms. Our room was wonderful, it was large, spacious, a comfortable queen bed, two armchairs, a bedside table and a desk. We also had a balcony with a table and two chairs. The bathroom was fine for us, and there was lots of hot water and great water pressure. We were at the back of the hotel, and it was very quiet. There is a school behind the hotel which might lend to more daytime noise, but it was Easter Break when we were here, so no children in the schoolyard. The breakfast is included, and has cheeses, cold meats, fresh fruit, cereal, breads and pastries, scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, bacon, hot tomato and mushrooms, and a bread which has bacon, melted cheese and tomatoes. Juices, yogurt, milk, coffee and tea round out the buffet. The dining room is excellent, and the meals we had here were superb. My only complaint about the food was that there was always too much of it. This hotel is a short 15-20 walk from the central train station, and about a 15 walk into the center of the old city center. There is a Jumbo grocery store close by if you need anything. Yes, the room could have used a touch up, but we enjoy staying in quirky places. If we wanted the North American style hotel experience, we would have booked somewhere else. This is a jewel of a find, and will definitely stay here again if we return to Zwolle.
My stay at this hotel was really nice. I have experienced details which normally I don't. As example: the softness of the towels or working with the laptop by the fireplace, in front of a big window in a calm atmosphere. The hotel is an old and charming building, which is kept in perfect conditions, bathroom is renewed. Amenities include sleepers and bathrobe. Breakfast ok. 10min walking distancie to city centre. Staff professional and helpful.
I got a room on the first floor no. 100 or 101. King size bed was comfortable but bathroom and furnitures out-of-date! Breakfast acceptable with limited selection. Coffee below expectation. To be honest, the certificate of excellence is history... Next time I 'd choose another hotel.
This hotel is quietly situated in a residential neighbourhood and close to the town centre, indeed it strikes me as three residential homes forged together. Reception is friendly and adequate. Room #18 is a few steps up from the ground floor and sports a door that is a little tatty from the outside. The room has enough space but no comfortable chair. The shower is clumsy and cramped. It makes a right mess in the bathroom, so best brush your teeth, shave and wash before taking your shower ..
I was pleasantly surprised by the elegant building and cozy, traditional interior (though some of the rugs on the stairs are worn). Friendly staff, though I had to wait a bit for my tea at breakfast. No lift and no one offered to carry my suitcase upstairs. Biggest problem was that my room was piping hot, despite closed curtain. Fan helped a bit, as did opening window the small bit possible (I thanked God for the Bible, which could prop it open). Virtually no water pressure so the shower was a lame trickle. Wifi ok, bit on and off, but can carry a Skype call. I guess it's ok for 85 euro, but had expected more quality control for a Best Western.
