We loved it and cannot fault it - everything bright and modern and warm! - breakfast buffet 7-11 was fantastic - lots of choice and great quality - lovely walk around the lake - spa is great - if you want to swim 50 laps then it is not for you but for children and chilling after a day in the snow it is great great clean and modern changing rooms and sauna - our room had its own heated and ventilated cupboard for drying - all and I mean all staff were amazing- very helpful and knowledgeable - we used the Ski bus to Ruka which took 20 min but is expensive for the 3 of us (we may hire a car next time) - every few days they have outside sauna and lake swimming (dipping) for 7E - we ate at o'learys twice and it was good American food in a nice atmosphere - also there is a small hire shop by Angry Birds where you can hire nordic skis and stuff The skibus (to Ruka) stops at huskies and reindeer farm but we were not sure how you got from the bus stop to the actual place ( I am going to post a forum post to ask people) All in all a lovely stay - the only thing we missed was a bath in the room but I think they are pretty rare anyway! thank you - we will be going back next year!

The hotel itself is nicely decorated and the staff were extremely helpful. The room we stayed in was a 1 bed timeshare which was pretty standard but did the job. Our issue with the hotel is that nothing was included. They charge €18 per day for the spa area which is great for kids and also has a sauna and steam room. The jacoozis are cold (the same temp as the pool) which I think is a European thing but never ceases to disappoint me! There’s a nice “Irish pub” with good food and the angry birds area looked good for kids. We went in Dec so it was snowy. The hotel don’t loan skis so you either need to bring your own or drive to Ruka (about 20mins) to rent some. The surrounding area has a lot of cross country ski paths and walks!

The hotel is part of the Holiday Club chain with many hotels in Finland and a few in Sweden and Spain. I understand they are in a kind of time sharing business. Modern nice looking reception area. We received a room at ground level, but people occasionally walk by the window, which requires the curtains to be closed for privacy also during daytime, if desired. The spacious room has some (out)dated furniture and the room smelled a bit musty. 'Airco' by a separate fan on a footstand. No minibar or fridge, only a water cooker and some paper cups; no coffee or tea bags, though. Those had to be purchased from the shop in the lobby. Well, there's a first for everything. The room had a big enough flatscreen but the on-screen hotel info was empty. The bathroom with shower was clean and spaceous. Breakfast up to standard. Altogether not worth a full four stars, let's say three plus (3+). The room gave right of access to the spa. This looked nice and modern with different connecting pools, even a waterfall which looked really nice but we missed a part to make some real swimming meters and one corner pool had a strong nasty (urine?) smell. There also is a gym and lots of other activities in the hotel, and an adjacent Angry Birds centre, which must be nice for kids of all ages but not used by us.

Fantastic hotel, new rooms are nicely renovated and the location is fantastic for snowy winter fun. The restaurant has a good range of food on offer and the Angry Birds site is amazing and the kids had a great time. We also struggled to pull them out of the indoor pool! A great, family focused hotel.

I stayed at this hotel with my girlfriend for two nights. The location: Since we were on a road trip on our way up to the North Cape, the surroundings weren't all too important to us so we don't really know what's there to do in this area. We hiked the "small bear trail", which is about half an hour from the hotel. Driving in, we saw some stores and supermarkets. The room: Absolutely standard, clean and comfortable. The bathroom is semi-open (door for the toilet and glass door for the shower) and the mirror in the room makes it almost impossible to get some privacy in the bathroom. If you're not comfortable seeing your travel companion naked, I recommend getting separate rooms. The restaurant O'Learys: We ate at this Boston-themed restaurant and bar both nights and were very happy with the food (burgers, ribs, chicken wings, etc.). There were a LOT of kids (some screaming). My suggestion is to go as late as possible to try to avoid the families, even though I'm not sure why people would take kids to a sports bar anyway. Other hotel services: We didn't use the spa or pool, so no comment on the other services the hotel offers. While we stayed here, there seemed to be some renovations going on. To get to our room, we had to pass through a construction site corridor, including workers both working and taking breaks. That was a bit uncomfortable, it would have been nice to have received some info on this when checking in. When mentioning this during check-out, we got a very sincere apology and a 15% discount in our bill, which was very nice. There is also a small kiosk located next to the reception that sells snacks and drinks. It's overpriced, so I recommend stopping by a supermarket to get these items for the room. Breakfast was okay, nothing special, just a basic buffet and juice. In general, I definitely recommend the hotel, we had a pleasant stay!

I was hoping for so much more about this hotel which ended up as a disappointment. First start on the road with a poor signalisation. A big board has been seen a couple of hundred meters before turning out of the main road and then disappeared. R-kioski entrance, who is not familiar with R-kioski I am sure might get confused, why isn't simply written 'entrance' and separately on the window or higher a sign for R-kioski? The reception was noisy, many information to digest and understand 'There is a own entrance to the other aisle of the building' we told us at the reception; but outside no sign for second entrance. We finally find the 'second entrance', ready to get to our room at the whole opposite of the aisle. There is a door in the corridor giving to the parking lot but you can only use it to go out, not in, after what you get locked out and need to pass all the way back from the reception. Once in the room, poor maintenance: misplaced paint on the entrance tiles, dirty curtains, lot of bad scratches on the floor, a super slow drying in the bathroom which let a huge puddle after your passage to the shower and the hairdryer not working. The only information flyer I find is the emergency guidance and the rates for laundry services, hidden in the closet. No map for the hotel to find where are the two restaurants, the spa entrance nor the breakfast room. There is in fact a small, compact flyer with poor information given at the check-in. A phone is at disposal but no numbers indicated. Room service? Guess there is no. The center of the aisle disposed of several games: motorbike and car driving simulators, shuffle puck board, billiard. Which is a plus to entertain the evenings or free time in rainy days. There is also a gym but if we didn't run on the sign we would not have known about it. No fees nor opening hours information can be found. Finally the supposed to be the highlight of the hotel is the spa. I have to say that spa/swimming pools are not my taste, but I decided after a while to give it a go. I should say this didn't improve my perspective on this 'hobby': it is super small, only a tiny Jacuzzi and no swimming area. Few relaxing places, and some massage waters way too strong to be enjoyable. The indications in the spa were so poor, not being familiar with the customs of Finnish swimming pools and spas, there was nowhere to read a little information on how to process, and the lockers system missing instructions were really uneasy to use. Not worth 20e entrance fee. The area, though of the whole resort is really nice, lots of trails going around the forest and passing near lakes, giving good place for golf and frisbee golf infrastructures as there are.

Our visit in hotels spa was quite divided experience. Everything seemed to be ok but surprise was when we came to mens locker room. Over hundred lockers and one bench which was obviously fully booked. My father-in-law had to undress and dress by standing and he is an old man. I had to fetch a handicap chair where he could sit. Next surprise was showers. If there was a hundred lockers then in shower room were only 15 hooks and lockers for towels. Towels were lying on wet floors. Come on people, can't you count? Actual spa was ok but bit worn out. Staff was constantly fixing the all important traffic light of water slide. For some reason hot tub wasn't hot. It had the same water temperature as rest of the spa. There was lots of room to just float around but no place to swim. Our kids have just learned to swim properly and I know both HC Saimaa and HC Peurunka have this opportunity. When we were leaving the spa I asked the reason from reception and they told me that the renovation was not complete. Wonder why they let people in to unfinished spa? Money? Greed? It will only cause negative reputation.

We rented a villa, there were 6 altogether,3 couples. The villa was new, clean and we had everything we needed. Your only a 2 min walk from the hotel where you have a spa, pool amongst other things, there's great ski trails,We did go bowling, that was good fun and I'd recommend it for a laugh. The staff at the hotel were very helpful. We only had a 3 day visit and there's lots to do in winter time so I'd say go longer if you can! We liked it there so much, the peace and location that we will definitely go in summer and check it out. If your traveling with children there's plenty to occupy them, even in winter. I'd recommend it here especially an apartment or villa, very relaxing and really helped melt away those winter blues:-)

An excellent variety of facilities are crammed in, including a fantastic swimming pool complex with waterslide, plus a fantastic sauna with a window overlooking the snow. There isn't much space for swimming, but lots to do for a family. There is an "R Kiosk" shop stocking simple supplies, and a direct ski bus to Ruka for 7 euros each way.

We stayed in the hotel 14 years ago, which was nice. Not a lot has changed: the pool is entertaining for the kids, the Sauna is still very hot. The restaurant now only serves breakfast and lunch, for dinner you have to go to O'learies which does not have a lot of capacity. Breakfast is ok, price is a bit high for a family of 4 (38 EUR a day) The houses (rantropiki in our case) are modern and very comfortable for a family (two bedrooms). The small Sauna indoors is nice. Equipment is very well thought of, No need to buy stuff to do the dishes etc... Due to the included bikes a trip to the supermarket is easy and makes lunch served out of the fridge easy. Better is to have car of course.
