Hotel was clean and modern, staff helpful, good location for travelling to Pompeii and Amalfi coast. Restaurant not the cheapest but breakfast superb. Pool area very clean and safe. Really couldn't fault it
We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights and the overall experience was okay. The lady who checked us in was very friendly and helpful, she gave us all the information we needed to catch a ferry to Amalfi/Positano. From the hotel you will walk 10 mins to the train station and take the train to Centro which takes approx 15-20mins from there it's a short 5 mins walk to the jetty to catch the ferry to the Amalfi Coast. The hotel offers free underground parking which is great and has many trolleys available to move your luggage (no concierge). In the room you will find that the furniture is not new but not old. The mattress was very very disappointing being as hard as a rock and uncomfortable. The air conditioning in the room is underperforming, which meant we spent every night sweating as it was so hot. The view of the pool from the hotel windows is okay however the surroundings is rather unattractive. The room has the basic amenities needed (hair dryer, towels etc). Breakfast offered a decent but average variety. Lunch and dinner at the hotel is overpriced when compared to what you can get in town. The hotel isn't walking distance to main town Salerno, you can either catch a train or drive. The surrounding suburbs of the hotel are less desirable however you feel very safe inside the hotel. The hotel is overall clean. The pool is a great addition, however the hotel had problems with the life guard not showing up meaning guests could not swim until 11am (opens at 10am). Overall okay experience we where let down but the air conditioning and mattress (which are the two major necessities).
THe Hotel was exactly as expected. I travelled with my two kids and they fixed a confortable sofa-bed. Checked in by Alesandro, who was very helpful. Also Irma in the Front Desk was helpful giving advice of places nearby. But the best service was provided by Fabio in the pool. Very good with every guest, very attentive. An asset for this hotel. There is great idea the x-box and games for the kids in the lobby, thank you very much for that!!
One of few hotels which offer 1 family (2 A 2 C) in one room which makes the holiday very affordable! When that said the hotel restaurant prices are above average... Lifeguard Fabio made our stay even better with his engagement. He is very proactive, and all pool guest is met by a smile and fresh clean towels when entering the pool area. He will also move the sunbeds if necessary so families can stay together. We got tips & tricks from him about nearby restaurants and also about the Amalfi coast and Naples. In 2017 it is very rare that you meet a person so dedicated to his work even after several 10 hours shift (10AM – 8PM) during the pool season! :-)
We (couple with 3 daughters) flew into Naples and picked up a car rental (I'd suggest an Auto) and drove down to Salerno within an hour. The hotel is located around 5 km east of Salerno's centre so away from the club congestion. On our second day we drove to Amalfi and stopped off where we liked the look of the are. The roads are a tad precarious and the drivers don't tend to use their peripherals so just remember you're on holiday so drive with ease and don't rush - you'll be fine. On our 3rd day we drove to pompeii (don't get trapped into expensive tours as your standard ticket comes with a map and key site descriptions. Just be prepared for the heat (especially in August) and take plenty of liquid and supplies ideally in a ruck sack - just in case your 4 year old says she wants to be put on your shoulders :) I would also suggest driving up to Vesuvius as it's only 30 minutes away. Just take plenary of change for parking at Vesuvius and the toll roads. A drive to Sorrento took an hour and again very picturesque. We also caught a ferry form a port nearby today to Positano that took just over an hour. Tomorrow we intend to drive down to Agropoli as it will be the 5th beach we go and swim from. Every evening we tend to get back around 5pm allowing the kids to go for a chill swim in the hotel's pool and for us to have a relaxing glass of local vino we purchased on our 1st day supplies shopping trip. There's a great little family run pizza place 100 meters to the left when you come out of the hotel. If you have a family and plan on sharing a room then I'd suggest a suite. It's roomy and has a balcony. They only have 6 so I'd contact them direct to confirm this. A lady on the front desk; Enza is very helpful and has great customer service. She pointed out local eateries and suggested sound itineraries. All in all the hotel is very pleasant and in our opinion very well located. Enjoy the Amalfi coast as memories were made for our family.
I have been on hold with them trying to confirm the reservation I booked through tripadvisor and their system is not showing what my confirmation shows. I asked for a supervisor and she put me on hold to call the hotel direclty to see what the issue was. We got disconnected and when I immediately called back and asked for her, i was told that she had left for the day because her time was up. WHAT? A supervisor in the middle of helping a customer resolve an issue leaves? So I now have to go through the issue all over again with another supervisor to rectify my reservation at this property
Lots to do at the hotel for the kids, an Xbox 360 (only Kinect, no controllers), 2 computers, an angry birds computer table, some building bricks, two table football games and table tennis. Pool was small and busy but it was very nice. The room was a bit cramped, but with 2 kids that's the be expected. Air conditioning worked, tv had only Italian channels and CNN/BBC news. Bed was hard, but pillows were fine. Bathroom was OK, toilet flush button cover was broke, I fixed it myself instead of reporting to hotel. Bath was small and shower was only ok. The lift was not the easiest lift to work, and people often got in at reception, went down to the basement so we who drove in could not get in. It took over 30 minutes one afternoon to get in a lift and we ended up walking up the stairs instead. But this only happened once. The restaurant was fine, breakfast was the standard Italian buffet, lunch was "snacks only" but the pizza we got was big enough to share. Dinner was good, I had a massive steak dinner and was very happy with it. Waitor Daniel was a bit pushy for the house special but not ott. All in all 4/5 if they fixed the lift (made it more user friendly) and organised the breakfast then it would have gotten higher. B
Not bad hotel. Wish it was a bit cleaner floors and walls. Nothing to do around hotel. Pool but cold water even on hot days. Breakfast was delicious fresh baked bread, baguette and other pastries. Our daughter enjoyed the stay at the hotel.
It's a little bit off the beaten path, but not far at away enough to keep us from taking a walk to the beachfront cafes &/or restaurants. It's refreshing to feel at "home again" being 5000 miles from home, when you stay here. The pool & gym were a nice extra.
Visiting the Amalfi coast, Novotel Salerno was a good place to stay. Nice rooms with a view of the sea. Nice staff helped us with a birthday cake and to find a good restaurant for our daughters birthday. Nice pool area and ok breakfast
