Besides the charm of Ostuni and the well-appointed beautifully cared for hotel, the staff at the hotel is one of the best. From the front desk to the kitchen staff, all made us feel at home, welcomed, and well care for. The folks at La Sommita truly focus their attention to details.

We stayed here for a couple of nights on our Honeymoon as part of a tour around Puglia. It is a beautiful hotel with a stunning view, lovely staff and a great breakfast! Our room was lovely and nice and spacious. The restaurant is exceptional and worth splashing out on if you want a memorable dining experience. Loved it!

We spent two nights as a family at La Sommita in one suite. We received an intro email a couple of nights before our stay, and then discussed options with Lucrezia when we arrived. She suggested a great option for dinner, a place to go olive oil tasting the next day, and a beach club to visit. Her recommendations were the highlight of our stay! Breakfast is served outside/inside in their formal restaurant, which is in a peaceful setting amongst olive trees. There is a very small swimming pool that we did not use. If you are visiting the hotel, I would call in advance to coordinate where you should park your car. There is a garage that is easy to access, once you know where it is :). We spent a bit of time driving around, navigating pedestrian only/local streets to find the hotel, and if you aren't comfortable driving around it could make you nervous. One other note is that our room had a loft with a double bed upstairs, and our kids each were in single beds downstairs. The room was beautiful, but if you aren't physically agile you may have a hard time navigating the stairs up to the loft. There was not a handrail, so it would be easy to take a big tumble if you were going downstairs in the middle of the night to use the bathroom. The hotel is in a beautiful setting, and is small and quiet. We had to leave early after our second night, and the staff was very friendly and prepared food for us to go. We would highly recommend it as a base to see Ostuni or visit Puglia. You could also compliment a couple of nights at Relais with another option by the beach to see different areas in Puglia.

A lovely hotel away from the noise with a beautiful view from the terraces. We decided not to eat in the restaurant; whilst the decor is calm and minimal we felt it lacked the dynamic local energy that we had come to southern Italy for. Nice very clean room without a view at all so check first if you expect one. service is a bit hit and miss for the standard of hotel with the exception of Oronso who stood out in a great way - always cheerful and highly professional in his trips up and down the hill.

We stayed for one night and ate in the Michelin star restaurant. Upon arrival the reception staff were really great and gave us a glass of bubbly each and a short tour of the hotel. Do not get me wrong, the hotel itself is STUNNING both inside and out. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean, the bathroom was lovely. However, at both dinner and breakfast staff bordered on rude. The wine we ordered with our dinner we had to request to be poured several times and eventually I just walked to the wine location and got it myself. The food in parts was excellent, in other parts very much style over substance. The eggs benedict I ordered for breakfast was inedible and had to be sent back and the buffet drinks were warm and watered down which you just do not expect for a 5 star hotel. I had to ask for milk for my tea four times before it arrived with breakfast at which point the tea was cold. Other guests complained whilst we were there also. We did register our concerns with reception but they were brushed off. I would recommend staying here based purely on both the exquisiteness of the rooms and the location in the stunning old town and proximity to good bars and restaurants (our favorites were Caffe Cavour and Osteria del tempo perso). I would not recommend it if you are expecting five star luxury service and food.

My husband & I just returned from an incredible stay in Puglia. Our first stop was La Sommita for 4 nights, & we wish we could have stayed longer. The service was impeccable, the hotel beautiful, the location perfect & the town our new favorite in Italy. La Sommita deserves its 5-stay rating & the only thing that would make us return for a longer stay would be the addition of a "real" pool, since the one they now have only seats 5 people & is too small to swim in.

My husband and I visited La Sommita for just one night, and truly wished we could have stayed longer. The location, the grounds, the food, and the service were impecable. Maria at the front desk (with curly hair) was someone whom I wished I could have been friends with- her insights on the area, her recommendations for our excursion, and the attention to detail to making our stay enjoyable was outstanding. This hotel got it right all the way around and we truly hope to make it back! Maria- thank you for all of your help, you're a real gem!

Five star hotel which deliveres the high glass service expected. Do not miss to eat in the restaurant that belongs to the hotel, it is a great pleasure and higly recommended. The only thing which surprised us was the massage/cosmetics service. This venezuelan woman who tries to get some Euros more with the cheapest tricks does not fit to this astonishing atmospere. Apart from this we can only recommend La Sommita to you.

We stayed in La Sommita for 4 nights in April. The hotel is situated on top of Ostuni in old historical centre. Ostuni is very beautiful, it is a joy just to walk around the labyrinth of old paths and imagine you have travelled back in time. The hotel gives you stunning views all the way to the sea across ancient olive trees. The hotel can be hard to find, especially if you are using google maps to walk there like we did! You cannot drive there as it is in a very old part of town. The easiest way is to walk up from Piazza Liberta (there is a sign for the hotel). When you get to the top, keep walking to the right behind the duomo (past Gipas 111 which you will definitely want to be for a cocktail) and follow the small passage round to the left and the hotel is just a few steps along. Alternatively, call the hotel from the piazza and they will pick you up. Easy! After being greeted with prosseco, we were shown around the hotel to our room, Number 6. It's a small hotel with only 16 rooms. The room was impeccably clean, a king size comfortable bed and a fantastic shower with good products available to use. The view was gorgeous. The hotel breakfast is delicious with a wide selection to choose from, including fresh focaccia. The staff are friendly, helpful and offer excellent service to their guests. I would say the hotel caters best for couples. There are plenty of bars and restaurants nearby, although it would probably be wise to book in the high season. We didn't eat in the hotel other than breakfast. Why 4 stars and not 5? First, if I could give 4.5 I would! So, the hotel has air conditioning which is only turned on in the summer. When we stayed in mid-April, it was humid so we needed to keep the window open otherwise it was too stuffy. Only thing is, there is a bar/club directly below which thumps out loud music until 2am. It would be helpful for the hotel to consider turning on the AC earlier in the year. Other than that, I cannot fault our stay. Overall, La Sommita is a very good choice for couples staying in beautiful Ostuni.

Stayed 2 nights in the La Catthedrale suite which was very nice and spacious (on 2 levels with a very large bathroom). The terrace and outdoor sitting areas were also very inviting and the weather was lovely. Breakfast was also of good quality. Very close to Brindisi airport (25 minutes drive) so good if you are departing from that airport as we were.
