Patria Palace is situated in the very heart of Lecce, once there you can let the valet park your car and enjoy walks around the narrow streets. We had a standard rooms, which has view on the back street but was large enough. Mattress was a bit old but not uncomfortable. Value for money is quite ok given the prices in southern Italy in August. Breakfast was complete enough, with a vast variety of teas and delicious local pastries. Would be very nice to get an access map before hand, it is tricky to reach as hotel is located in the historical center. Staff is effective, especially restaurant and valet personal.
This hotel really got our holiday in Puglia off to a good start. We got lost in Lecce centre as we tried to navigate to the hotel and after a quick call one of the staff walked to our location and directed us back to the hotel. We had a wonderful room overlooking the square and with a view to the Basilica. All facilities were good although the neither the bedroom nor the bathroom were very large they were perfectly adequate in size. The bed was comfortable, air conditioning effective and the mini bar was reasonably priced. Breakfasts were excellent with a wide range of fresh fruit, cooked meats, cheeses as well as the local speciality of soaked bread, tomatoes and oil. Staff were charming but not intrusive. The real plus is of course the location right in the centre of the town opposite the basilica and a few minutes walk from the amphitheatre. Lots of good restaurants and cafes nearby. There is a rooftop terrace on the hotel with excellent views over the city. Heaven.
The only downside to this hotel is finding it. Our satnav left us in pedestrian roads blocked by bollards and the hotel website's printed instructions were rightly dismissed by the hotel porter as, well, rubbish. However, it was worth the challenging journey. The hotel is in the old city, all the sights are within a short walk and it exudes charm. The staff are all terrific. It is an old palace, well converted. There is a large upper terrace with a garden and our room also had a terrace overlooking rooftops and spires of the old city. It was extremely quiet despite its central location. Worth the extra for a third floor room with terrace. Breakfast had plenty of variety but the quality was a bit disappointing. The room had a good bed and was attractive, nice bathroom, but as so often the cupboard was badly designed. Why won't hotels grasp the fact that shelves are easier for the traveller to unpack into than tiny drawers. We are travelling for a couple of weeks and prefer unpacking some of our stuff to leaving in cases and rummaging. But here there was only about enough space for one person for one night who only wanted to hang skirts or cut-offs. Trousers trailed on floor, Otherwise a great two days, hotel restaurant produced a delicious dinner - recommend as a good hotel in a great location.
Lecce is relatively new on the tourist map and has few major hotels The Patria is right in the centre just steps from everything The welcome is friendly and the rooms are comfortable and well equipped Breakfast is fine and the staff are helpful even if the English skills of some is not great Nothing to really complain about Be aware if driving to the hotel there are lots of restrictions and one way systems Once you arrive they will park the car for you in an underground car park Lecce is a one visit city which takes about two days to see fully
Situated in the centre of Lecce, close to everything, this beautiful hotel, previously a palace, with its large, beautifully appointed rooms and very friendly and welcoming staff feels like a privilege to be able to stay there. Probably the only down side is the lack of any view from the windows (our room was on the 1st floor) but the room definitely makes up for that.
You get everything you pay for & more at this beautifully restored & appointed small boutique hotel right in the centre of the old town. I'm so glad we paid the small extra for a Superior Double room (lovely large room 3rd floor- with wonderful large balcony - view of top of Basilica Di Santa Grocce & other roof tops) BUT there are no better views as all buildings are jammed in close together. Lovely to sit out in the cool breeze late afternoon & night! Room has huge bed - excellent firm mattress- great tea/coffee making facilities & wonderful big bathroom with bath. Huge TV with Skye. - with all channels Breakfast is good. Staff can't do enough for you - everyone is super friendly! We drove to Lecce & parked our car alongside a huge green park in city centre & walked to hotel (through the park & other side of Basilica Grocce - staff marked on a map how to drive through old city to the hotel!! Can't recommend highly enough.
Charming older hotel in the old city center of Lecce. The rooms were well appointed, quiet and spacious. The hotel was easy walking distance to the duomo, restaurants, shops and the Roman amphitheater. The staff was friendly and accommodating. We had a very early departure and the staff had laid out a simple breakfast on our behalf.
This is an elegant hotel, perfectly situated. The interiors are beautifully appointed and gorgeous. However, you will be lucky to find a room with a window that looks out on anything other than a wall. We switched rooms a couple of times to try to improve the view, but the best we could get was to look out on an alley and the wall of another building with just a peek of sky. We did notice there are some rooms at the very top that look out over rooftops. These were probably above our room rate. Still, you can't beat the location. You are just minutes from all the restaurants and shops. And the breakfast was amazing! What a treat.
We spent four nights in this majestic hotel which could not be more central in Lecce. The room was spacious and comfortable. The pubic areas are classical Italian the breakfast is varied and of good quality. The staff were very helpful both at the reception and also the breakfast room. I would recommend this hotel without hesitation!
The Patria Palace is a beautiful, old hotel in a super convenient location in the charming, baroque city of Lecce. The room was very comfortable (We had a superior room on the 3rd floor, with a large terrace). The hotel is located across from Santa Croce Church and a short walk from the main square. The breakfast buffet was very good.We had an excellent 3 night stay at the Patria Palace. I would highly recommend this hotel in Lecce.
