In general it's a lovely hotel with an incredible view of the sea. It was amazing seeing and hearing the roar of the sea. The breakfast buffet was rich and diverse. Staff were helpful most of the time. Its location is midst most of Salalah attractions. Of course you'll need a car. Nothing is at walking distance. The overall theme of the hotel is orient designs and decors, but not very new. It looked classic. Our room was spacious and had a living room and a second bathroom. The overall theme of the hotel is orient designs and decors, but not very new. It looked classic. Our room was spacious and had a living room and a second bathroom. 2 problems occurred during our visit. One was the 20-minutes delay to check-in. Though we are a platinum IHG members. But apparently due to lack of staff, the only one receptionist, who was in front of us, was busy describing something about attractions to another curious guest. I thought it was the job of concierge. Plus, it was in the line of IHG members!! However, the guy at reception understood our disappointment and apologized and offered a complimentary breakfast too. The second issue was the tap water. It was out. Appeared to be a problem for the whole hotel, and it took them like less than 2 hours to fix. Other than that it was a very pleasant stay and we'd like to come back.
The room i s clean. It's time to do a renovation of the entire hotel as it starts to look a bit worn. We had all inclusive. The lunch buffet was usually better than the dinner buffet for some reason. But overall tasty food. Excellence service. Slippery floors all over hotel.
the staff make the stay wonderful. The room is clean and the bath room fine. If you have an one car it's not fare from the Center of the City and the moske. The beach is clean and you can walk for miles and miles.
We stayed at the Crowne Plaza 23-26th of Aug during khareef season and loved it! We opted for the halfboard so breakfast and dinner was included. Three things make this hotel, the staff are very pleasant and helpful, the food is incredible.. best i've had at a buffet, and the location. We have 3 small children who are fussy eaters and the staff happily made them childfriendly food every night. The room is a bit tired, but we didn't spend much time in the room. Two cons, because we have a stroller for our youngest we were unable to use the stairs and the walk to our room was right along their bar, with men smoking and drinking on the patio. Also, due to the misty air from the close location to the ocean, at times the floor in the outside restaurant is quite slippery. Our 3 year old had a hard fall one night and we saw a few others slip and fall during our stay. The hotel should invest in nonslip flooring, or at the very least a sign to warn guest would be benefical. A side from that, we slept very well in the quiet room with a super comfy bed! The buffet was sensational both morning and evening. The food tasted superb, hats off to the chefs! We did visit two other newer resorts during our stay and have decided will will be going back to the Crowne Plaza on our next trip. One last thing, try the house burger... it's fab!!!!
After a shaky start to our stay, things turned out okay. We had booked a meet and greet service and when we arrived at the airport we were immediately ushered to a waiting car. We were delighted! Until 5 minutes later when we were removed from the vehicle to make way for a family. We took pity on the family that had been waiting for 1.5 for the transport they were paying for! We were ushered to a shuttle bus and then left for 30 minutes in the heat with no explanation while the driver disappeared. Some persuasion was required to get him to take us to the hotel as it was now 9 pm. This bad first impression was wiped out by the duty manager Mohammed who was most apologetic and obliging and upgraded our rooms to a seaview. Nothing was too much trouble for him and his staff. He arranged a return shuttle for us suited to our departure time and was on hand to answer every questions with a smile. The staff in the dining area were also most helpful and met any need we had. great beach area and swimming too. Meals were good. One suggestion might be to send a waiter onto the beach to people to be able to order drinks. Yes, the bathrooms might be a bit tried but there is such a lovely ambience and grace about this old hotel .... it is one hotel to which I will definitely return given the chance.
I give five stars to the Crowne Plaza Salalah. The staff are friendly and welcoming, the setting is elegant, grand and beautiful. Very impressed with the lifeguards judgement as his priority is keeping people safe and is always keen to teach youngsters to swim or offer advice on the currents and rips in the ocean. Stunning beach resort
We just came back from four days staying at the crowne plaza and wasn’t impressed with the rooms. We got standard non smoking room ‘facing the garden’ which was actually the front of the hotel. On walking down the hall on the first night to the room, I noticed the untidy carpet and smell of must. My disappointment started there. The room didn’t fare much better with a strong smell of must and old furniture on entering. After flying all the way from Dubai and having stayed in lots of 5 star resorts, I was really disappointment. 5 star it certainly is not. Our only joy was every evening when we got to walk to the anantara which is located 10/15 mins walk down the beach and have our evening meal. That is also 5 star and feels 7 star. To add to our stay in the crowne plaza, the bed sheets felt damp as if condensation had caused it. The only part of the hotel we enjoyed was the pool facilities, although the pool bar looked tired and dull.
This hotel is truly Salalah's crowne jewel. Each and every employee will go out of their way to make your stay a memorable experience. The minute you walk in you are bombarded with genuine smiles and authentic greetings. When i met their general manager Mr.Manuel, i figured it all out, a professional and passionate hotelier with a positive and hands on approach that leaves no room for substandard service. The cheery on top of the cake was listening to a virtuoso Lebanese artist accompanied by his Oud at the Dolphin restaurant by the sea.
This was meant to be a trip to de-stress. The immigration at Salalah didn't help - took a bout an hour and a half to get the stamp - not beacuse there was a crowd, but because of the slow officials.. The hotel transport executive at the airport wanted me to wait for another passenger to turn up. Waited for 30 minutes, and when this was getting too much, I took a taxi and went to the hotel myself. I expected the hotel to reflect the transport executive's attitude, but I was pleasantly surprised - check was smooth, courteous and very efficient. The staff at the resport go all out to make you at home. Rooms are great, clean and quiet - a perfect combination for chilling out. The themed buffet every night is great - worth the money that they charge. Swimming poo was good, sea swimming was not allowed though. All together , a delightful experience.
A nice hotel (we stayed for only 1 night) but possibly looking a little tired around the edges. No complaints though, staff were friendly, accommodating and helpful. Nice and close to the airport, and easy to get around - we were travelling around the Salalah are for various trips.
