We spent a lovely week in Sainte-Maxime in late September and stayed at the Hotel Les Jardins de Sainte-Maxime. The hotel was wonderful, a beautiful location on a private estate but well placed for the beach and Sainte-Maxime town centre. Really helpful staff, very clean rooms, great facilities (two swimming pools) and a well managed bar and restaurant. Already looking forward to returning early next year.
We selected this hotel as it had last minute availability and secure parking for our classic car (free at this hotel). Our room overlooked the pool, was clean, modern and comfortable. I was pleased to see a bath, a rare treat these days, but I do know that a shower over a bath can cause difficulties for some so I would recommend checking with the hotel if this is a problem for you. Coffee and tea making facilities was nice to have too ( still unusual in France) but the lack of fridge was a surprise in this hot and sunny part of France. It wasn't a problem fir us staying only one night but if I was there in high summer then I'd like to be able to keep water cool. The air conditioner was effective and the bed comfortable. There is an ample wardrobe for those who need it. The pool area is large, with plenty of sun beds. We didn't use the bar or restaurant so can't comment on them. The hotel is a 10 minute walk through the Saint Maxime Botanical Gardens which have plenty of shade and a play area ( I'd have appreciated this in the high summer with young children. Plenty of room to run around, open until 8pm.) to a sandy public and two private beaches. If you choose not to pay the €18 euro per head cost of the private beaches, you could use the free public beach and then take coffee, snacks or meals at the private beach's restaurants or walk 10 minutes towards the main town to a petrol garage and a boulangerie for supplies. Otherwise it is a good 15/20 minute walk into the centre of Ste Maxime with its shops, bars, marina, restaurants and beaches. This we did for dinner as taking the car prohibits the enjoyment of wine and town centre parking troubles are avoided. All in all, we enjoyed the hotel, gardens and nearby beach for the one night that we stayed there.
We stayed for a week at the hotel at the beginning of September as part of a group. We were allocated a room without balcony , when we asked to pay to upgrade it proved very difficult the receptionist really could not be bothered.it was only after we contacted our tour company and complained that we were moved. The rooms were clean but basic, with no fridge provided. The pool bar was closed and no bar staff on duty during a the day, difficult when you are on holiday and want to relax and you spend a lot of time chasing even basic levels of service. The breakfast service was a joke, in the 7 days we stayed, not once was our table cleared, most of the time not even set, we had to ask for basic items they were always running out of cutlery and items on the buffet. It was a shame as the location was perfect but really got the impression they were winding down at the end of their season and had cut back to minimal staff. Even though the hotel was fully booked all week.
Excellent service from a very pleasant and friendly staff. Room was very comfortable and impeccably clean and maintained. Long time love affair with the location. Least liked Nice Airport and unpleasant experience with Enterprise Car Rental return.
Good hotel, very clean and with very friendly staff. The hotel itself is a bit outside of the city center, which is fine because it also means the surrounding area is pretty quiet. From the hotel, you can walk through the adjacent botanical gardens and then you're at the beach. There are some beach bars there (Maxim Plage and Le Diamant). The beach bars are expensive (18 euros to rent a seat for one day and soft drinks at 4 à 5 euros can add up), but there is a Total gas station a few hundred metres further where they sell icecream and softdrinks at more democratic prices. The area of the hotel pool and its impressive trees is very pretty. The pool also has a bar where you can buy drinks and sandwiches. Noon is peak hour for sandwiches, because everybody who's hanging out at the pool wants something to eat then. The hotel should fix this bottleneck. Overall, we've had a very good time there.
Very nice hotel, amazing territory with swimming pools, and very good breakfast. Clean rooms with a nice balcony. Free parking. Highly recommend for travelers with a car. St Tropez is very close and St Maxime is just 1 minute driving, whuch is an amazing city. Thank you for everything!
I ha d an agreeable stay at St Maxime. I enjoyed the view from the room, the pool area and the park. A nice breakfast and I ha good service at the reception, although i witnessed that some others had not. Great to able to eat breakfast outdoors and to take a drink in the outdoor area in the afternoon.
Beautiful hotel just out if the main town but well within walking distance for the bars and restaurants. The hotel is very clean throughout including the outside pool and terraces. It is well worth a visit. Personally fur myself I felt the menu served in their restaurant was lacking content. The meals we had were lovely but a lamb shank on only a bed of cous-cous was not enough for me and I felt the entree selection was not good value for money. However the starter was a different matter. We had the salad and it was wonderful. The desserts too were of ample size. Overall apart from the entrees the meals were great. Staff were very welcoming and attentive to anything your asked for. Will definitely stay here again in the future
Beautiful surroundings, well kept hotel with very nice staff. Decent room, quite small but comfortable and classy. If you have a poolside room the view is absolutely stunning! Very close to the beach. The food however was not so good. Breakfast was mediocre and the lunchmenu was dreadful. All together I would recommend this hotel, we had an awesome stay!
