There's a lot of very good things about this hotel including the stunning location, beautiful buildings, very peaceful gardens & swimming pools plus a high quality restaurant. It is easy to see why it is so popular with guests. We were initially put in a room above the restaurant building and it immediately became obvious that this was not the quiet room that I had requested because of the very noisy kitchen fan, the restaurant telephone and the general noise of people moving around below in the restaurant area. To their credit the hotel immediately offered us an alternative room in the other building which was much quieter (Kandinsky). Kandinsky is a good size with a decent shower room and a nice terrace bordering one of the pools. Breakfast was a typical French affair with good quality food but if I'm honest it became a bit repetitive after a week as very little changed except the type of tart that was offered. There is also no bar area after 19.00 which is strange for a 5* establishment. A drink service is on demand but it's not quite the same. Overall we had a very enjoyable week at the Villa and would visit in the future but I'm not sure I would go back again for such a long stay without a car because of it's location. The on site restaurant is very good but limited in choice and expensive. Locally there are a couple of decent places to eat but otherwise it's a good 45 minute walk to St Raphael. Taxis are an option but then it's another 30-40€ on top of your meal. Finally we had one another issue with the restaurant. We had wanted to dine on our first evening but we're told it was booked for a private function which is fine if alternative arrangements are then made for guests. There is a garden bar which does food until 19.00 – why that could not be extended until later is beyond me and I think it was poor not to offer guests an alternative option.
There is only one word to describe our wedding day - perfect. From the moment of the bride’s preparations to the evening party everything was just as we had hoped, and more. The setting and the rooms are truly beautiful. The staff was smiling and tactful, Manon and Louise went beyond themselves reassuring us during the pre-wedding meetings and on the day. Special mention goes to the cooking chef – what a talent! Everybody’s still talking about his “oeuf parfait” which was a part of our wedding menu. All accompanied by an excellent wine choice. Words can’t express how grateful we are for being able to have our wedding reception at Villa Mauresque. Thank you!
What a wonderful hotel. We stayed for 4 nights as part of our 25th anniversary celebrations. From the moment I started to contact the hotel by email they could not have been more helpful and once we arrived we found all staff to be really attentive and helpful. The hotel is so well kept with beautiful gardens and stunning views of the sea from almost every angle. The view in particular when eating breakfast was breathtaking and added to the very enjoyable long leisurely breakfasts we enjoyed. It was great to be able to cool down in he pool also overlooking the sea. Our room was excellent, great shower, with separate bedroom, sitting room and terrace for soaking up the sun. A great location for exploring this amazing coast line, will hopefully return again as we were both mesmerised by Villa Mauresque, a big thank you to you all...
A wonderful places which has had much history...actually the lady I came with there had come in her childhood when it was still a private demeure. Quiet, efficient, very nice metal work details. Particularly recommend.
A high-class luxurious hotel in beautiful surroundings, yet relaxed and peaceful. The staff is service-minded and discrete, and we had excellent dinners at the restaurant. Thank you so much La Villa Mauresque!
We visited off season so it was very peaceful, quiet and private atmosphere. The room (deluxe) that we had was quite small, and the bed might have been softer, but the room plus was bubble bath. The small heated pool was somewhat dirty, but the big one was too cold to swim in yet. The breakfast could have been of a bigger variety, but I assume that was typical French breakfast- lots of pastry, and not a single vegetable in sight. We did not have a car, so went there by train to Bolouris- which was 10 min walk away. Overall- would return again.
We spent a week on the French Riviera and chose this gorgeous boutique hotel as our base of operations. As a former get away for such famous people as Somerset Maugham , Winston Churchill and Ian Fleming, the villa and grounds are breathtakingly beautiful, complete with a choice of two pools and two hot tubs. This exclusive property, overlooking the sea provides a ski boat, kayaks and other water sports for the benefit of its guests. Sadly the water temperature in the pools and hot tubs was cool to cold; not to North American standards. Our Van Gogh room was spacious with a cavernous shower / bath. We were provided with high quality Hermes bathroom amenities. There was a large in-room safe and were provided with good quality robes and slippers, as well as a Keurig coffee maker. We were treated very well by the staff who were impeccably professional. Louise at the front desk and Valdine, our chamber maid, were both a joy to deal with and went out of their way to accommodate our wishes. Surprisingly, there was no hotel services directory to provide basic information. Le Bougainvillier restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating is very romantic on a summer evening under the palms. Unfortunately our meals did not match the ambience, notwithstanding the high cost.
Perfect location, excellent accommodation, friendly and attentive staff. Idyllic. Hot tub and swimming pools were clean and well maintained. Coffee and tea facilities were constantly stocked. The turn down service in evening was a bonus. Location was perfect for major routes and airports, as well as gorges de Verdon - well worth a trip! Hotel offers a perfect retreat if you require class and luxury.
I stayed off-season, so the area was generally quiet. The villa was in reparations preparing for the high season but the hustle was compensated with attention and service. Not much going on around, places need to be reached by car or taxi. Highly recommended!
From the moment of our arrival until our departure two days later, our experience staying at this wonderful gem of a property was superb. We were warmly welcomed by the staff who were incredibly attentive with a service level rivaling that of luxury five star hotels - while we were expecting something special, it exceeded our expectations. The views from the main pool area was postcard perfect and the secondary pool was spectacular with the abundance of bougainvillea surrounding it - it was a beautiful spot to escape to. The food in the restaurant was divine - we ate there for lunch and enjoyed breakfast by the pool. If anything was disappointing, it was the rooms - they were tired and in need of an update. For example, the sofa in the room appeared unkempt, was sandy and had stains in several places. The furnishings and other appointments did not come close to matching the other elements of the hotel which surpassed expectations. All that said, we have no hesitation in recommending this property highly and would return again.
